Introduction: I strive for allowing the song and artist to shine, instead of overproducing something to where the production takes over. Whether I am producing, tracking vocals, tracking an instrument or a full band I make sure every musical decision is necessary for the song; if it is not crucial it most likely does not belong. I am a musician myself, I play piano and trumpet so if my clients like those sounds I can arrange, then record the parts myself. When it comes down to engineering, sonic quality is vital in order for the listener to be fully engaged and emotionally attached to the song. That's why I make sure YOU, the artist, are happy with it before we declare a song finished. Before we start I like to get a good idea of who the artist is, what the project is, how they want it to sound, who needs to be involved, etc. Getting in the artist's mind is the key to creating. As a producer/engineer, my job is to support the artists vision by carefully choosing how I approach the song.
I love uniquely combining different palettes of sound to evoke a specific emotion; notes, frequency, dynamics, fx, etc. There are endless possibilities and there is no feeling like writing, producing then mixing a song that sounds amazing, yet, like nothing I ever heard before. It comes from the heart.
