I am only doing returns remotely. I have been preparing returns via the cell/internet for many years now. It works quite well and I still talk to my clients via the phone as often as it needs to be. I have many Thumbtack clients from all over the country and the world.
I try to establish a personal relationship with my clients. The more I know about may clients, his or her business, and family situation, the more I become not just a Tax Preparer, but a Financial Advisor.

When it comes to Business Preparation I am knowledgeable on the various accounting programs that you might use-Quickbooks, Xero, or Wave, Zoho, or Freshbooks. I can review your books but I don't do bookkeeping. I help my clients choosing the best type of entity for their business snd work with a company that will setup your LLC or Corporation for very reasonable pricing.
Taxes are getting more complicated and a Tax preparer must stay current. I attend many seminars and listen to many webinars during the year to keep up-to-date on the latest tax happenings. I belong to a mentoring group that goes over many sticky issues. If you are in California and other states and you have a Pass-thru-Entity there are new developments that can save you money if you have a decent net profit from your Partnership or S-Corporations. Also I can help you reap the benefits of the new laws if you want to increase your retirement savings.
I am also the Treasurer of our local Enrolled Agent Group. We regularly interact with the IRS in putting on seminars and sharing input from our clients on how to improve the tax system. Because of my involvement in the EA group I have many resources to fall back upon when confronted with a difficult issue.
I have extensive experience working with clients who have not filed tax returns for many years. I run interference so they do not have to talk directly with the IRS. Being helpful to my clients. I am available all year for anything that comes up outside tax season.
I also learn a lot from my clients from their experiences. I am proactive with my clients especially when it comes to explaining why they owe so much money after the tax return is completed. They want answers and I supply them with the answers they need to tax plan for the next year.
Many of my clients become friends because I stay in contact all year not just during tax season. I have a 90% retention rate of clients from one year to the next.
