- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge by minute of video or audio files. There is a separate fee for true verbatim (it includes the uh's and you know's), for time code and for multiple speakers. Pricing also depends on the speed with which you would like your transcript completed. Background noise or bad audio are also figured into the pricing.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
A producer friend of mine was working on corporate presentations and asked if I'd like to start transcribing because I'm such a fast typist. The rest is history.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Recently, I transcribed an audio file of two people commenting on the video they were watching. Going back and forth between speakers is difficult, but I managed to get it right.
