The work was excellent: all was done quickly and satisfactorily. We had a confusing issue with closing out the bill, however: we didn't discuss parking in our downtown office building beforehand - so we weren't upset - but there was some confusion about it afterwards; the three parties (us, the handyman, and the company) were all confused about how the handyman was billing the parking to us and how we might reverse the billing after we provided partial parking validation. Ultimately, it was all good.
Amin was great! He was very friendly and efficient in mounting our 65" televisions without much help. It was a difficult task to mount two 65" TV's in a commercial building but he faced the challenge and we got it done! He also came very prepared and offered specialized screws and port covers to ensure for proper and safe installation. Overall, great experience working with Amin.
Great job and very fast with our island install. Looking forward to working with him again on some other house projects
Roger put together a queen size Murphy bed from Costco for us at an extremely reasonable price. He was very professional, thorough, punctual, and talented! He is a perfectionist so made sure that everything was done correctly and looked great! He was more than willing to come back the very next day to help us with some other projects- building and hanging cabinets, assembling a toddler bed and hanging drapes and pictures. All A-plus work! I am looking forward to hiring him again to build a closet and mount TVs for us next!! I don't think there is anything Roger can't do, he's super skillfull! Would highly recommend him. :)
We had the very best experience - I can't begin to tell you how nice our sofa's and lounge chair came out. Tony even made an extra cover to cover the lounge chair as the dogs use it as a launching pad to gain access to our bed. The follow-up and response time was unbelievable - if Tony was in commercial real estate I would recruit him as quickly as I could. Tony is welcome to give me as a reference. We hope to use him in our new house.
Mr. Eckel discussed a deck building project with me. Mr. Eckel was on-time for our meeting and provided me with a number of options. I did not end up going forward with the project because of other factors, but I would work with Mr. Eckel in the future, and would certainly recommend him to others.
I hired Robin (MFP Construction) to install a post mounted mailbox at our office. We immediately ran into unforeseen issues, like a gas line and buried concrete in the two places I wanted to install the mailbox. Robin was flexible and innovative with solving issues that arose. He has an incredible work ethic, while waiting for the concrete to set, he cleaned out a rock bed adjacent to the project removing debris and rearranging the 200 pounds of rocks, this was not part of his scope of work, he did this instead of having downtime. When he was done, the building front looked like it did the day we moved in, clean and professional. I could not be any more impressed with his finished work or his work ethics. I would absolutely hire him again for any project that requires his expertise.
The project was to move a door in our master bedroom and change it to a pocket door. It required him to build new supports, install new drywall, paint, etc. Oscar did a great job and was very responsive to all of our questions. He even went to Home Depot to pick up all of the necessary materials. Will be looking to hire Oscar the next time we have a project at our house. Thanks Oscar!
American Castles Mike To the RESCUE!!! The water heater at my rental property burst on a Friday afternoon causing some major damage to the house. The renters were furious because their items got damaged and the house wasn't inhabitable after that. On the inside, the bathroom wall and under stairway closet were all soaking wet and drywall/carpet/padding had to be removed immediately to prevent mole build up. On the garage side where the water heater located, the entire wall was destroyed. so I called my home insurance who provided me with their preferred plumber who quoted an additional $540 out of pocket on top of what the insurance was going to cover just so he can bring up the water heater installation to code! He told me that it will take him 1+ week to order the water heater (duh...get one from Home Depot take only 1hr...which is what Mike did) and that he can install a temporary water heater and will charge $137/wk! He also referred me to a water damage restoration company which I was not too happy with either. Since it was an emergency and I went with that company. They came in and ripped out all the wet drywall without caring for any molding; especially for garage doors and closet doors! It seemed like what ever the water heater didn't damage, they did. They also broke my water heater intake shut off valve. damage the water heater over flow copper pipe. All I can say is I will not use them again! Back to the plumber, something was smelling fishy about his quote and so I called and questioned this plumber. His response was "Well, I will need to flush out the gas line and calibrate your water pressure...upgrade to the new California safety quote...put in earthquake straps...install new vent line since the new water heater nowaday don't use the old vent line!". I was not convinces so I started to Google for good local contractor and AMERICAN CASTLES (Mike Tay is the owner) came up from Thumtack along with few others from other websites. I contacted them and they came in and provided me quotes. Mike was the last one I contacted. He arrived within 30min. He checked out the damages and explained to me what needs to get done sequentially to get everything back in proper operation for my tenants. Mike is very knowledgeable and very patient in explaining things. I told him what the plumber had said, he laughed and told me the whole thing was a rip off and a scam! Another crock of bull**** and advised me against it. He told me to call my insurance company to inquire about using other plumber. Sure enough I was offered the "cash out" option which I didn't even know was available. I took that option and went with Mike for the repair. Mike knows how important it is for my tenants to get the hot water running again once the water damage restoration company completed the clean up/dry out the area (took 1 week). As soon as that company removed their equipment, Mike had his crew come in the next day (Saturday) to repair the garage dry wall and finished the installation of the new water heater and brought it up to code on safety on Sunday! He even added the water pan and installed drain pipe for me. I didn't even know such a thing exists (talk about quality...he treats it like repairing his own home!). The best part is his charge for the whole job including new water heater, earthquake straps, valve, drain pan, vent and new connection is far way less than what that plumber was going to charge me. I loved the fact he took the time to show me how things should be done up to code and what works for my situation instead of just giving a price and walking away. He did an awesome job! Unfortunately my landlord insurance's deductible was so high, I asked Mike to give me a quote for fixing the damage in the garage and inside the house. Mike's quote was very competitive and the best part is he is always willing to work with me knowing my situation (thx Mike). My bathroom paint is 16 years old so it was a challenge to match the paint for the new wall. After only quoting me for painting a small wall inside the bathroom, Mike decided on his own to paint the entire bathroom without charging for it. Now that what I call TAKING PRIDE IN YOUR WORK AND STICKING TO YOUR WORD!!! My summary is, Mike successfully completed the entire job and installation in four days. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone and will definitely be using and referring him to everyone I know.
We hired Jerry to do some drywall work and to build a bookshelf in a pony wall and paint. He was very easy to communicate with, was always very prompt, often arriving early. He took pride in his work and did a good job.
I am having the best handyman experience of my life! We have a few properties and we've been through a few handymen and Hanssel is the best in the business. He quoted about 12 things on a punch list from building kitchen cabinet inserts to installing doggy door and he did it all on time, quality work and was cost effective. He is very professional and polite. I will hire him again and again!
Ross did great job with my roof that I needed to have fix to comply with our city building department. He was efficient and completed the job within a few days. I would definitely use him again.
Thomas was a great communicator and did an excellent job building and installing our gate. Plus his pricing was very competitive. We definitely recommend Thomas and plan on using him for future jobs.
Johnathan was very helpful in completing some last minute projects around my condo. He has a wide range of skills so I would definitely recommend him for any one who needs a handyman to complete work for him.
We are so happy that we chose Scott and Victor to tile our bedroom floor. Great communication and punctual and attention to detail. Very conscious about cleaning and noise control. Absolutely no issues. Thankyou Scott and Victor. Look forward to hiring you again. Tamara
Our residential interior design firm has used Tom on several projects in Hidden Hills and Encino. The outcome has always been to our satisfaction. He built a custom kitchen island for us, custom built ins with floating shelves for a family room, built in cubbies for a playroom, a buffet built in for a dining room, and an amazing custom bookcase for a double story circular entry. He is a craftsman, problem solver and delivers in a timely manner. Unfortunately he does not do his own finishes. He does however have finishers he recommends and coordinates with.
Mike Lindsey is a superb craftsman, a hard worker, and a good guy. I couldn't recommend a carpenter more highly. We needed a fence built to replace our old one that had been damaged by a hit and run driver. We had several "fence builders" come out to talk about the job and give us an estimate. They never even called back. The excuses went on: the job was too complicated; it would entail a finish carpenter that the company didn't have; they couldn't take on the job at the time. I almost gave up, then thought to search for a carpenter instead of a fence builder. That's how we found Mike. He worked with us to create exactly what we envisioned and offered suggestions that greatly improved the look and quality of the fence. His approach and pricing strove to make the job as fair as possible for himself, for his workers, and for us. He found us the best wood possible. The skill he has shown and the care he has taken in building the fence and swinging, saloon-style gate are remarkable. At last, we will a magnificent fence that will last for years. Soon, I'll be posting photos of the finished fence and gate.
The Egal Construction team was one of the most down-to-earth, honest contractors I've ever hired for a job in our office building. When we ran into an issue, they jumped on fixing it in an impossibly timely manner. Five stars, 10/10, all of the accolades I can give. Hire these guys!
I sold my house and only had 10 days to move into my new home. With a tight timeline and all the work that needed to get done at my new house, JDA was able to get it done and on budget. They handle everything from the flooring, trim and painting, updating my kitchen, mounted two TV's to the final clean up after construction. Highly recommend!
He was very professional and friendly his work was very good my door opens and closes like a new house and my house was built in 54 he added dead bolts on 3 doors now my house feel and is very secure, I recommend him to do any home I am VERY happy with the work.
