Renas lessons completely changed how I engage with my voice and the confidence behind it. The techniques she teaches help expand your understanding of the art of singing as well as how your individual voice works! I've never taken lessons before, but I feel as though I've already improved a lot under Rena's tutelage. I'd highly recommend her to beginners!Nov 9, 2017Verified
Reena is a fantastic teacher and, as a person, a pleasure to work with. She has deep, understanding – on both technical and intuitive levels – that one can only earn throughout a successful career. After about a month I feel that I have made substantial progress, and look forward to where we go in the coming months.Nov 8, 2017Verified
Rena is great. This is not just singing songs while someone plays the piano. She is very focused on technical skills of singing and able to articulate how to access and manipate your instrument. Highly recommend.May 2, 2015Verified
Rena has been fantastic so far! I've had 6 lessons with her and we've already made some considerable progress. She is classically trained and has lots of experience in opera, so if you're looking for a teacher with those kind of chops, she is a must see. However, I also have to mention that she can work with whatever repertoire you are interested in performing. She tries to lay a solid singing foundation at first (which is so important) and then builds off of that to cover whatever you are interested in doing. A very good teacher, highly recommended!Apr 1, 2015Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?$60/hr for the first month of lessons. After that it is $70/hr with the student preferably coming once a week if possible.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? If the student has never sung, we simply start at the beginning with the basics. Even if someone has sung before it is good to review the basics. Then after a few months for a beginner we start on simple songs to put into practice what we've worked on. Singing involves muscles and coordinating various body systems so the learning takes time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have an MFA in vocal performance and have done a lot of performing all over the world. I also took a course in grad school on the anatomy and physiology of voice which really helped me to understand what is going on when one phonates (makes a noise) which includes, of course, speech and singing. I also continue to go to workshops for teachers sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing. I am NOT a guitar or piano player who came to teaching voice because i can read music and do some singing myself. I love finding a singing voice in someone who thinks they might have one but just isn't sure. It is a very exciting journey of discovery for both of us.
