Concrete tile roof with a couple tiles completely gone and a dozen cracked. Responded within an hour to my call for help. Made an appointment to estimate job and showed up on time. Walked the roof thoroughly listing all damages in about 30-40 minutes, and gave me a very reasonable price quote I feel. Didn't try to up sell me. Got all the needed material together and knocked the job out in less than four hours. I've worked in construction and building and facilities maintenance for over forty years, and I can tell you these guys are expert, honest, open and straight forward. I highly recommend Alvarado Roofing Service for any roofing work you may need. Great price, great service, expert high quality results.

We hired Roger to build a wood playset in our backyard. He was on time, very professional and did a very clean job. It took him about 8-9 hours to build the playset but he made sure that the playset was secure and safe for the kids. We are so pleased with his work and his professionalism. We will definitely use him again for other projects. And...he has the best price!

You know how they say when it rains, it pours? Well... El Nino Rains plus our 30+ Year Old House equals ROOF LEAK. We needed a Roofer. We got three referrals here on Thumbtack. Of those three referrals, it was obvious that Erik Havens and his Advanced RoofLeak Solutions business was the roofer we should go with. Doing our own research on the referrals, we found that Erik's business Advanced RoofLeak Solutions Inc. is definitely a licensed contractor whose contractor's license is, yes, actually for roofing. The state contractors database confirms this. Also, we noted that Erik's roofing business is an "Inc." meaning his business is incorporated as a corporation. We liked that because to us that meant Erik most possibly had a smart stable business. The state corporate database confirmed his business' active corporate status. As for Erik himself, don't let his youthful looks make you wonder about his experience. This 30 year old guy knows his stuff. Roofing runs in his family. Erik has been working in roofing since high school. My impression is that Erik knows how to run a quality roofing business. He is very respectful and honest when dealing with his customers. And he takes pride in his work and is thankful for his customers hiring him to do the work. We never met Erik before. But if you talk to him for a while, then you may see the same forthright excellence that we see in Erik. So, what did Erik do for us? We had a leak in the roof. This was for the roof on top of the garage for our 30+ year old house which has a red tile roof. Erik went up onto the roof with his ladder and immediately pointed out a row of tiles that were sliding down opening up an exposed area where the rain came in. That exposed area then affected an 8-ft by 8-ft area. That effect was obvious to us from inside the garage looking up at the underside of the roof where we can see a big wet stained area. Erik's work included disassembling the tiles for that section on top of the roof, putting in new underlayment material, applying roof mastic sealant, and then reassembling the red tiles back in properly aligned rows. (And there were lots of hammer pounding and other loud noise while he was working up there on the roof.) And afterwards, while he was still up there, Erik additionally checked the rest of the roof, he resealed any vent pipes (and whatever else) that needed new sealant, also checked the stability of the sun roof up there, and looked for any other potential problem tiles that could possibly be sliding out of place. There were a few other tiles beginning to slide down a bit. Sliding tiles seem to be a typical potential problem for old tile roofs. Erik secured those few other tiles pushing them back into place. Erik said the underlayment for those few other tiles was still fine. One other thing that Erik did was to clean out the gutters and make sure they were secure. Yes, imagine that: a 30+ year old house with gutters that have never been cleaned out until now. One of the gutters on the second story roof was full of leaves. Erik cleaned that out. So, Erik did a really complete job and more! My impression is that Erik is a busy roofer who is in demand. In my conversations with Erik while he was up on the roof, with myself watching him from down below, Erik mentioned how the El Nino Rains and Winds have been bringing him so much business going his way. (My guess is that this was even before El Nino as people wanted to secure their roofs in time for when El Nino arrives.) Yeah, Erik is apparently very very busy. Meanwhile, our neighbor was also looking up watching Erik and was apparently interested in also hiring Erik to work on his roof, and ended up having their own conversation as to when Erik would look at the neighbor's roof. So, Erik is apparently a busy guy, who does quality work, and is in demand. He works on roofs all over San Diego County. He goes wherever the work is located. If you are considering whether to hire Erik, we would strongly say that based on our experience to give him a call or to send him a message here via Thumbtack. Also, definitely give him your phone number and your address so he can figure out when to schedule a visit to actually look at your roof in order to give you a proposed written estimate. Erik's proposal for fixing OUR roof was a good reasonable fair price. My suggestion is to NOT go cheap in repairing your roof. The two other referrals that we got from Thumbtack would have been cheaper and would have undercut Erik's proposal where one thumbtack referral was from an unlicensed roofer who was not in the state contractors database and the other thumbtack referral was from a solar guy whose contractor's license was for electrical. For our roof, we were willing to pay a little more for a quality roof repair by a licensed experienced roofer (whose contractor's license was actually for roofing) and we expected the roofer to stand behind his work. And we indeed got a qualified licensed experienced roofer in Erik Havens and his Advanced RoofLeak Solutions business. Thanks Erik.

I hired Julio to re-roof my enclosed patio. He was the third person I had quote the job. The first 2 quotes where more expensive, but most concerning was the fact that neither would give me the total price in writing. Julio sent a detailed job summary and cost directly to my phone. The job consisted of: Removing and hauling away the existing roof (shingle material), Removing & replacing a 10 foot section of dry rotted wood, replace entire fascia, and Install a Granulated Torch style roof. Julio was able to schedule and complete the job on the weekend which was great for me. They were on time, and everything went as planned - no surprises or added expenses. What impressed me the most was the work he preformed that wasn't on the contract. I had a problem with excess water runoff where the garage and house roofs met. If I didn't put a barrel there it would enter & flood my garage. He showed up Sunday with a gutter system that would redirect the water away from the house. Even though I offered to pay for the materials and/or time it took to install he put it up at no charge. I would recommend using Julio for any roofing or repair job. He does quality work at a great price and has integrity.

Martin and his team were referred to us. We closed on Friday, we fumigated over the weekend, and they had our 1200sq ft house apart Monday morning. Here is what they did in only five weeks: Exterior: -Repaired the fascia -Replaced my window trim on all windows, and two of my windows entirely. -Painted the exterior -Poured a patio -Replaced a large side gate -Built and painted a picket fence -Installed a mailbox -Helped me assemble my patio furniture in their down time -Hauled away two truckloads of garbage from the yard and garage that the prior tenants left -Trimmed the trees to keep the off the roof -Patched the roof -took care of the loose wireing in the garage Interior: -Scraped all ceilings -Ripped out all flooring -Ripped out the tub and shower -Ripped out the vanities -Ripped out the toilets -Ripped out all base boards -Retextured the walls and ceiling -Build two doorways -Built a small wall to fix the hall -Reinstalled the bathrooms with new fixtures -Replaced all the ceiling fans -Replaced two doors to the exterior -stripped my sliding glass door of that terrible fogging-effect plastic - hung fresh bedroom closet doors -new carpet in two rooms -new laminate in the living room, office, hall -new vinyl in the kitchen and bathrooms -new baseboards -new kitchen cabnet with counter to match the others -re hung kitchen cabinets to match the other side (they were low) -full paint -smoke detectors -fire extinguishers -re-wired my unsafe attic -new switches and plates Basically, They made it turn-key, from a total dump. And they stayed within my budget. But what will always stay with me is the sense of deep care and respect I felt every step of the way. Our first experience. Never were we blown off of treated like novices. Every time I share pricing with friends who have had work done on their homes, their eyes bug out at how wonderful our pricing was! They always went above and beyond. Like, meeting other people (the surveyer, the city for utilities, the garage door guy, the Apliance delivery guy) so that I didn't have to take work off. Like lending a hand with our last few boxes when we were moving in. Like staying around until my husband made it home on they day he got lost so that I wouldn't be alone in a new neighborhood after dark. Like working weekends to get it done. Like touching base every day with updates. Like helping me spray my yard with flea killer. Like always having a good laugh ready to share. Like answering my stupid "what-the-heck-is-this" calls weeks later when something native to the neighborhood would turn up (mostly bugs). I am so grateful. Also, It's been months and nothing has gone wrong. Our life carries on (knock on wood), and we don't think about trivial house stuff because it's all done.

Creation Builders Inc did my kitchen remodel, and it turned out outstanding! Easy to communicate with, they went to several tile vendors with us to helped pick out flooring and wall tiles. The work is excellent, met our budget, and on time. Can't wait to hire Creation Builders Inc for a major project.

My wife and I are very pleased with how our project turned out. Yyon with Buckroff Carpentry was at our jobsite from start to finish and did an excellent am impressive job. We had him install windows, build a custom cabinet for our garage, install crown and floor mouldings and replace some interior doors along with our closet doors. We have called him back now to do a small backyard fence for us. I already gave his number out to 3 people, because it is so difficult to find someone that does good work, won't overcharge and is honest. That is why I recommend Buckroff Carpentry.

After shopping around on CraigsList and Thumbtack, I found Troy McDonald and hired him to lay laminate wood flooring in my guest bedroom of my mobile home. We're trying to make improvements so we can sell our place. Troy came in on time ready to go, repaired and patched the subfloor, and then laid the laminate flooring that I had bought from Home Depot. He did such an outstanding job that I'm going to hire him to do the flooring in my kitchen, master bedroom and both bathrooms. Troy charges a very fair price and really cares about giving you a great end product. If you're smart, you will hire this guy. On a scale of 1 to 10, he is an 11!

I have seen Brian's work on several occasions, and I know he is a very capable, knowledgeable, thorough, and efficient computer expert in addition to having multiple mechanical, construction, and carpentry skills under his belt. He has fixed cars and motorcycles for me and did an excellent job, and he is also my go-to-man for any computer-related issues because of his extensive experience and knowledge of both hardware and software. Brian is known for his honest work and fair pricing, both of which I appreciate, and I highly recommend him for any and all future work.
