Steve started workin with me in May 2013 hoping to lose some weight, but what happened was a change in lifestyle and wellness. I am 25yrs 5'9 150lbs and was previously 185lbs the most overweight I have ever been in my life. He got me on a strict and health diet that I know follow religiously and love! I have never been the strongest, but I have gained muscle, in the weight resistance training and I lost the fat through fun cardio sessions. I highly recommend working with Steve, he is very knowledgable about diet and nutrition, with an emphasis on a hollistic and organic all natural approach to supplements and meals.

I've been working out with John for over 3 years, and he has transformed my body. He helped me lose about 13 pounds before my wedding. He's more than just a personal trainer - he's a life and health coach as well. I know if I have any questions about health or what I should be eating, I can always send him a note, and he'll respond. Every workout we do is always different. He keeps things interesting, and I always leave feeling good/sore. John is the best!

Justin is AWESOME. Working with justin has been a lot of fun. Not only with strength trainining, but flexibility and core training with yoga and acroyoga with my girlfriend and I. I go to justin to boost my workouts and mix things up. I'm a functional movement based sports doctor and I can tell you that I'm impressed with Justin's approach to exercise and wellness. No matter how much you think you know, you'll still learn more, reach your goals faster, and benefit from seeing an experienced and knowledgeable trainer like Justin. He's also big on nutrition, which is fundamental to being and feeling healthy. His company Kula Wellness also does meal prep which is pretty cool. 5 stars!!

Sean is an amazing healer, life coach, therapist, and body talk expert. He was able to bring peace to some old emotional wounds that I hadn’t thought about or even realized were still there. I went to him because I felt “stuck” and was searching for advice on my life purpose. After just two months of sessions, I already felt much healing and therefore more joy than ever in my daily life and am also able to express myself better and see more clearly changes to make to encourage my happiness and growth so that I may pursue my dreams being more in the flow and in the spirit of love.

I am a teacher and a mother of two with ADHD. I attended several group classes/coaching sessions with Leslie. I found her to be a warm, caring person who cares deeply about others and is dedicated to helping them improve their lives. She listens carefully to each person's needs and issues, and offers helpful suggestions as well as new ways of looking at your situation. She helped me to gain perspective on my situations and provided a framework to begin working with my ADHD. It is a pleasure to work with Leslie, and I would highly recommend her.

The best thing about Debi’s coaching abilities for me is that she made me feel so comfortable from the moment I walked in. This really helped me get to the deeper issues because I was so at ease. Even though I can only see her when I am in San Francisco periodically, it makes the trip worthwhile! She honed right in on several challenges and even recommended books for me to read since I cant go all the time. The books were perfect! I really feel she has an intuitive sense that allows her to move swiftly right to the issues that I couldn’t see. I highly recommend her.

I am so grateful that this amazing healer was put in my path. In our few sessions, I have been given a sense of well-being using tools from Jacquie and her healing work with my spiritual team that I have been seeking for decades. Jacquie is very intuitive but it seemed that every time we worked together, the results were better and better. From our first session, I felt a sense of feeling lighter, more connected to my higher self and able to ask the questions and receive responses to continue our work. She is a healer. I am so impressed with her skill and dedication to me individually. I hope you will give yourself the gift of experiencing the healing Jacquie has to offer. You will be so glad you did.

I worked two and a half years with Eva. It was a really great experience. Her technique was one of the reasons I stayed in therapy. She was always ethic but at the same time, you could feel the way she cared about your wellness. She was always available if you needed her. I am a psychologist too, and the way she helped me find my way thru made me the professional that I am now.

Pastor Ama Zenya is a true blessing. She brought joy, warmth, love, happiness, and beautiful light to our wedding. We felt so secure with her as our officiant. She provided us with the comfort to be present in every moment of our ceremony and feel all the love and support that was with us to celebrate our union. She met with us several months before our wedding to get to know us, both our individual personalities and our personality as a couple. She understood well what our wishes were and tailored the ceremony perfectly to meet our needs and include family traditions. She was very responsive, patient, gentle and kind with any questions we had. She was also very active in helping with details regarding the ceremony, and was very prompt with the official paperwork, as well as helping us rehearse our vows. There aren't enough words to describe how grateful we are to have had her as our officiant. We would highly recommend Pastor Ama Zenya to other couples looking for an officiant who will work with you to create a beautiful ceremony filled with love and tailored to your relationship.

Nicole is one of the most thoughtful, savvy individuals I have had the privilege of working with. She is masterful at listening, reading between the lines, and suggesting powerful tools that will help advance you toward your goals in new and thoughtful ways. Nicole cares deeply about the individuals she coaches and the rapport you build with her is one-of-a-kind. Nicole has provided me with extensive support as a new manager and helped me successfully navigate a transition to a new company. Her support is immeasurable, puts me at ease, and I highly recommend her to provide a refreshing lens through which to experience your career journey.

Arya is a master counselor and life coach. He brings a potent combination of skills into his work: a sincere heart, a highly intelligent mind, and a wealth of professional training and experience. Every session feels expertly held in a professional yet humane container; the real issues are addressed, directly and sometimes sternly, but always with an authentic kindness and care. Arya has helped me to: -cut through my insecurities and obstacles around my artwork -focus in on and take more action with my career in more ambitious and visionary ways -navigate very old and difficult patterns with my family -recognize and begin to authentically relate to things I was avoiding about myself/my life in a way that has led to way more relief, freedom and positive action -and just more generally, being someone in my life I can trust to help me through the ups and downs of being a human I'll share one more thing: though I didn't experience this directly, my dear friends went to Arya for couples coaching/relationship counseling. They said they received incredible benefit from their work with Arya, and that if not for his intervention, they don't know if they would have made it. They spoke about his acute attention to detail, especially in tracking the subtle habitual ways that they would shut down or leave their hearts, while giving them practicable alternatives to create the kind of connected, intimate, and fulfilling relationship they were longing for but couldn't find. There's a reason (many reasons) why Arya is at the top of this yelp list. He is absolutely worth it!

I am currently a special education teacher looking to move into an administrative position. Leanne was a huge resource with assisting in locating resume examples and educating me on what a professional resume should entail. She proofread my current resume and gave me constructive feedback on how to present myself for my desired job. She read and provided feedback for job cover letters, especially highlighting appropriate experience for each job I was applying for. She was highly professional, kind, and highly effective with coaching me in regards to my resume. I highly recommend her and Communication Coaching to anyone in need of building a resume and all other services! She is a great person to work with and I will always refer her when someone is in need of coaching for public speaking, editing of professional documents, and or advice on advancing careers.

I felt at ease with Judy from the moment I met her. She always has a smile on her face and really takes the time to get to know you as she works with you. I was really struggling with some personal problems when I started working with Judy and I am truly a different person now a year later. It can often be scary to seek help or go talk to someone, but Judy made the experience a pleasant one and I highly recommend her if you're looking for a life coach. No matter where you're at in life, we are constantly growing and it was very helpful for me.

Sasha is a yogi. He is definitely the greatest yogi I know, but then again he’s the only yogi I know. Sasha takes yoga very seriously - he reads lots of books by the great yogis, studies chakras and views it as a spiritual practice above all. He took a Kundalini Yoga instructor class and wants to help others on their spiritual path. I once visited Sasha with my girlfriend, and since he’s a friend of mine, he offered us a class which he called “simple”. Since I’m definitely not a yogi I found nothing simple about this class. Let me tell you, I was quite impressed with Sasha’s command of his body. The things he does with his stomach are kinda crazy. My muscles were sore for 3 days after that. This was mighty impressive to watch Sasha practice his passion. Sasha approach to yoga is very spiritual. He hums, chants mantras and all that stuff. If you’re into spirituality, you might get a kick out of that. He can use yoga to invoke rather intense psychedelic experiences in himself, and probably in you, too. You have to agree that this is an impressive ability. Yoga is an ancient art of discovering the reality of your existence. Yogis train for many years to attain the absolute truth and perceive reality for what it is. Those yogis who attain to truth are called gurus. Sasha is no guru yet, but he has definitely worked through some of his attachments with the help of yoga and plant medicine. So he might help you start the journey of self-discovery, as long as you don’t get too attached to yoga or Sasha in the process, and focus on the experience that he can help you have rather than his explanation of your experience, which would probably involve chakras. You will also probably get more healthy. Actually, if you practice consistently - for sure. But if you’re looking at yoga as an eastern-flavored gymnastics, Sasha is not for you. He is well above that level. You’d be better off booking a class at your local gym.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
