I could not be more impressed by the amount of dedication, organization, and patience Monique provides to each of her students. My cousins are 10 an 12 and just started taking lessons from her about 3 months ago. They absolutely love her and love playing the piano because of her! They rocked it at their first recital!!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Years ago I had a family friend from my piano studio beg me to teach her kids piano. In all honestly, I was hesitant at first. I was not sure what it took to be a good teacher and I definitely didn’t want to let my friends down. However, after our first lesson, (and reading every piano teaching book I could get my hands on) I realized I loved teaching! So I learned as much as I could about theory, technique, history, and performing. So I built my business, starting with friends, then referrals and it just grew from there.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I teach all types of students and ages. Some students are just looking to learn a few songs; while others want to be professional musicians. Regardless of the goal, I like to make sure my students have the tools necessary to achieve and exceed their goals. That is why I take the time to find songs the students enjoy playing and create a "practice plan" to ensure they stick to their goals!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a teacher there are many things to look for, however one thing that often gets overlooked is REALIABILITY. Many of my students started with other teachers who quit on them. Either they moved away, went into a different career, or were too busy to teach that student. This hurts the student for two reasons. One, they have created a bond and know what to expect from the teacher. Two, it takes time to find another teacher that fits your needs. The gap between teachers can cause students to forget much of what they had learned. When looking for a teacher, make sure they can commit for an extended period of time.
