I selected Tommy as my personal trainer so I can get prepared for Army basic training. I have been so impressed thus far with his professionalism, knowledge, and most importantly dedication to genuinely help me achieve my goals. Tommy has gone above and beyond by checking in on days I don't see him (holding me accountable), and guiding me with the resources I need to succeed (at home workouts, calorie tracking are a few examples). I am so grateful for Tommy and his guidance on getting me not only physically but also mentally fit. I would recommend Tommy to anyone and everyone, no matter what your goals are because he is so experienced and as long as you are willing to put in the work he will help you get to where you want to be.

I have struggled with health issues, depression, weaknesses, injuries for much for the past three years. I tried so many programs and did not really succeed. Two months ago, I started to look for a personal trainer who could really walk with me through healthy patterns, proper exercises, dietary habits, etc. I met Tommy! Despite that I only had a month plus, I AM STARTING TO FEEL MUCH BETTER AND FELT SOME STRENGTH REGAINED. I wished I met him much earlier!!!!! He has high level of knowledge, always ready to help, very punctual, has also shown amazing professionalism whenever I need helpor advise on my body condition.. I am definitely coming back to him when I come back for furlough.

As I'm getting older and more responsibilities my motivation to workout has been shrinking compared to my early / mid 20's. Until I met coach Tommy. Recently I was working with Tommy on finding a house and in conversation he asked about neck pain. He could see I was dealing with a very tight muscle from sleeping wrong. Tommy also asked me how my stress level was and if I worked out. I told him my stress management practices and that I occasionally worked out. He offered to watch my form and help with some corrective exercise with a free to help get some of my muscles to begin moving easier. Of course, I took him up on that. During our workout he showed me where I was not keeping my shoulders down and back through most of my movements, and why my traps were overactive. Wanting to learn more about proper movement and dropping a few pounds I told Tommy I wanted to work with him for a few sessions. There was no sales pitch, only him asking how he could help, which was a relief. We continued to work on proper movement, some power training, and some different breath work. Since then, my motivation is back, Ive purchased a home gym, and am very happy to be working out regularly and continuing stress management practices. I highly recommend coach Tommy and the SoFit SoCal team to anyone looking to improve strength, drop body fat, or drop stress!!

Coach Tommy is very professional, making a detailed plan for me. Following through with his plan and training with him three times a week, I have lost 9 Kg for only one month. His training is totally scientific and really worth it for the people who want to build muscle, lose weight, or have a healthier life. One thing I really want to emphasize is that I had hypertension before training with him, but, now, since I have lost a lot of weight, my blood pressure has become normal. It is a huge change for me!!!! I can't imagine if I didn't choose him and kept my bad habit of eating a lot of fast foods and sitting for a whole day in front of my laptop, I would have probably had a high risk of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, or other diseases relating to obesity. Honestly, he has been changing my life and guiding me to a healthier lifestyle. I know many people might think that they can do some kinds of exercise by themselves such as running, walking, swimming, and so on to lose weight. I thought like this too. However, there is a big chance when we felt a little bit tired, we stopped the training right away. We thought we did enough training already, but actually we were not and we could do more. He is the person playing a role not only  teaching you how to exercise scientifically but also pushing you to be more than you can be.

Working with Coach Tommy has been an amazing experience ( speaking for someone who hates exercise wholeheartedly). I have years of muscle amnesia/damage (especially in my glutes) for not being very active and sitting in very bad positions but Coach Tommy has been very patient -and Lord knows I need lots of that - in helping me starting to feel those muscles again. He is definitely very passionate about helping people get in shape and never gives up until he can figure out what’s going on and find a way to help you improve. He shows a lot of empathy but still knows how to push you to do better. If you have some level of scientific curiosity like me, you will also enjoy the fact that Tommy is very analytical and knowledgeable, always willing to explain the science behind what's going on or what he is recommending you do, which helps a lot. Finally, one of the reasons I have been putting off exercise in my wellness journey is that I usually feel very intimidated around fitness trainers, exercise is really one of those things I am really not good at but Coach Tommy has made me very comfortable and now I have assurance I can take on and pursue this wellness journey.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    Before starting any health and fitness program we go through a health screen questionnaire. This consists of a movement / postural assessment, and nutrition assessment. Next we find out your exact health and fitness goals and create a custom plan to not only reach your goals, but keep you there.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    Over the years I have acquired a number of different certifications, clinical hours, and experience. Certifications - NCCPT NASM IBNFC NSPA Strength

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

    In my 13 years of training I have worked with many different individuals and age groups. This ranges from stress management, to professional athletes (Washington Redskins), to media (SHAPE Magazine), to P.E. for Elementary and Middle School kids, injured clients, and many clients looking to drop body fat and tone up.
