FairMann Garage Door

James the owner is the sole employee. He responded to my Thumbtack service request on a Sunday evening. He communicated his availability and came on time. He assessed the garage door opener system, giving me various reasons that could be causing the problem. Originally he replaced the Capacitor but after a few open/closing determined it must be the motor ball. He replaced it and all is well. He is a professional and very knowledgeable about garage door systems. Good value for his work and knowledge. Hopefully I won’t need his services again but if I do he will be the first person I call. Will also refer him to family and friends.

It was a pleasure to work with him. He arrived on time and gave us an estimate after he diagnosed the problem. His price was fair and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in working with a professional for garage door repair or replacement, EMF, Tustin, CA.

Garage door repair company

Tom and his team changed our old 1940s garage door to an entirely new system with the mechanism and lifter. Everything went smoothly and efficiently: from the initial appointment to the quotation, then the final work. He was professional, punctual, and honored everything he said, including a good price. To top it off, the installation was clean and the area was tidied up upon completion. I HIGHLY recommend him and his company for any garage door project.

Distinct Door Solutions

Bryan, did such an amazing job. I had an oversize garage door that had been damaged by termites and hanging on one hinge. I had avoided getting the door fixed, because each time I received a quote from other company it was extremely costly. Bryan provided me an estimate which was affordable and explained my options in detail. I felt that he was honest. He called before arriving. He was very pleasant and professional. ****He does excellent work and is very organized.***** Definitely have and will recommend him to others.

Serviz - Sherman Oaks

Max provided quick responses and flexible scheduling, and Serviz sent out Sam R. to repair our garage door opener (which hasn't worked as long as we've lived here.) Couldn't be happier! Sam was prompt, attentive, friendly, highly-experienced, and highly-skilled. Unbeatable value. Will definitely recommend Sam, Max, and Serviz to anyone with garage door needs (or any mechanical/remodeling needs.) Thank you so much! I'm so glad I found Serviz!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.
