FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
To be ordained in the Presbyterian Church one has to have a bachelors degree as well as Master of divinity. In addition to that basic education I try to keep myself current. I travel two to three times a year to conferences related to my profession. I stagger the content of the conferences so that in any given year I receive current education on not only preaching, teaching and liturgy, but in administration and finance as well.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
The full time work of ministry is a calling. Though I grew up in the church I did not feel a calling to ministry until late in college. For the first time in my life working to help people in such a way seemed like the only possible option for me.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You are asking a minister, rather than a justice of the peace, to officiate your services. Think about why that's important. It will make our interaction more meaningful all the way through if we start on the same ground with that.
