David was very punctual and professional. He exemplifies quality and his almost 20 years of experience shines through with every detail of the job. David is definitely a man of respect and integrity. Our family agreed having David for future work in our home is a MUST! We had various repairs (windows, plumbing, carpentry, fence repair, etc.) and David completed the work not only in a timely manner, but he was very clean, organized, and kind.

Noah did some exterior carpentry work on our house: replacing termite-eaten fascia and eaves, replacing a lot of rotten window and door trims, replacing deck rails, fixing gates, etc. He did excellent work, was punctual and very communicative. I felt secure knowing that he would do the job well. It's very likely that we'll hire him again for future work.

Richard sealed Windows and trim that are 25 feet high! He also reattached siding and cleaned gutters. We are now sealed tight for the rains. Richard and his helper were on time, very courteous and did a fantastic job. A new fence is next and Richard will be the one I will ask to do the job. I am a picky person and I highly recommend him.

Reliable! The projects he knocked out for me are as follows, green house, window installation, knocked down a wall to open up living space and plenty of electrical from big to small. Prices were more than fair and he always looked to save me a buck it two with out compromising the integrity of the job. Thumbs up!

Kevin came on time and took a look at the window repair job I had for him. He explained that it was something that I could easily do myself and showed me exactly what to do. After he fixed both of the windows that needed work, he explained to me that his rate is $40 per hour with a 4 hour minimum, but since it was such a trivial job he gave me a substantial discount. I will absolutely call him in the future when I need work done around my house and recommend him without hesitation.

Andrew communicates better with clients than any contractor I have ever worked with in my 63 years. We had 2 very large, window supporting trim boards which were completely rotting away, presenting a potentially dangerous situation. Andrew took on the project with enthusiasm, and a great sense of what needed to be done. He arrived promptly, got right to work, and did a fabulous job of replacing, caulking, and painting the trim. He goes above and beyond to ensure that all possible problem areas are addressed, in order to avoid mishaps. He happily took on an extra job of sealing a leaky skylight for us. He cleans up after his work, is very friendly and courteous, kept us informed about everything he was doing, and presented us with all receipts. He was even nice to our two 70 pound Labs. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with a contractor. I would highly recommend Andrew and his excellent work. My husband and I were both very impressed with this young man. It was a pleasure to have him on site. How many contractors can you say THAT about? Hire him!!

We bought a manufactured house which is 16 years old and in need of lots of TLC. And that is just what Tim provided. He did everything including plumbing, appliance installation, electrical, new door hardware, a french door to replace a window, a fence you would have to see to believe (it is a complete work of art-we get positive comments on it all the time). I can think of very few things he can't do. His problem solving skills are extensive and intelligent. His aesthetic is refined. He has a work ethic like none I have seen, and his integrity is unfailing. We enjoyed having him here and look forward to his return to work on Phase II and Phase III. Thank you Tim!

When we decided to remodel our 40+ year old home in Saratoga, my husband and I wanted to hire a local company that would be able to do everything we needed-a "one stop shop" After interviewing several contractors and designers, we stopped by the Saratoga Kitchen & Bath showroom on Hwy 9. We were very impressed, (the nicest we'd seen) so we scheduled an appointment with the owner, Rob, to come to our house. He was extremely knowledgeable, and seemed to be very easy to work with. We had lots of ideas, and he (very patiently) listened to them all. I think we kept him there for over 3 hours that night, but he didn't seem to mind! We hired him to draw the plans to try to see what ideas would work--he came back a week later with not only our ideas, but several we hadn't even thought of yet. For the next 3 months, we met several times to come up with a final plan that we loved--what a fun process!! We felt very comfortable with them at that point, so we hired them to do the entire project for us. We are so happy we did! They assigned a crew to our job, and we all became good friends throughout the job. The project manager was a stickler for the details and quite the perfectionist. There were a lot of changes to our floor plan, taking out a wall, new windows, etc., but it was clear they knew exactly what to do. They clearly take great pride in their work. The city building inspector even offered compliments!! The cabinet maker did a fantastic job-they made several samples to get the finish exactly how we wanted it, and they came out even more beautiful than expected. The granite, tile, and floor installers were also first rate-clearly experts in their fields We are very proud of our new kitchen, and we've had lots of compliments. We plan to have them back for our master bath remodel (hopefully soon!) I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone looking for a designer or contractor. 5 STARS!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is it to get your windows tinted?

Window tinting is an easy aftermarket addition that can help reduce your electric bills, decrease glare in the home, increase privacy, protect your furniture and artwork against fading, and better control temperatures throughout your house. The national average cost for residential window tinting is $550. Many window tinting companies charge per square foot, for example, $6-$8 per square foot for materials and installation. Often, companies can offer lower rates for a larger installation project. Window size also affects cost; smaller windowpanes are harder to work with than large, rectangular windows and will likely mean a higher price per square foot. Your utility company may offer you rebates for installing window tinting. Here are two examples of average project installation cost:

    • 110-square-foot window tinting project: $750 for 11 windows tinted.
      • $6.80 per square foot. Customer received $150 from electrical company.
      • Semi-gloss tint.
    • 200-square-foot window tinting project: $1,000 for 10 large-pane windows tinted.
      • $5 per square foot.
      • Reflective silver tint for maximum privacy.
