I had a water leak issue that was coming through my downstairs ceiling. Issue was due to a backed up shower drain line. Found Vyron on Thumbtack and he contacted that evening to set a time to come by an assess the job. I also needed base Board for the downstairs as well as reinstalling tile in 4 spots from a previous radiant floor heating leak. Vyron was right on time. His quote was very reasonable so I hired him. The time Vyron arranged to begin my repairs was again, right on time. He immediately began his work with a crew. He unclogged the shower drain, removed the damaged drywall and reinstalled new drywall. Installed all the base board and reinstalled the tile. He quoted a time frame of 6-8 hours. He completed everything in 7 hours. He and his crew were very clean and organized. Vyron is professional and friendly. I highly recommend Vyron Salinas. Thanks Brett Larson

I would definitely recommend working with Theo! He was really easy to communicate with, and he did a fantastic job at installing our wallpaper in a timely manner. We actually had a couple hiccups along the way (we have an old house with plaster walls), which required Theo to come back for a second day of labor when we had only planned on 1 day. He was incredibly reasonable and fair with how much he charged us for an extra day, which we SO appreciated. Theo also saved us a bit of money on material. He checked in with me while he was installing one of the patterns, and said he had a shortcut he could do that wasn't the "perfect" install, but that it would allow us to return 1 roll of very expensive cork paper/reduce wastage. He installed using this "shortcut" method, and we can only tell where it was done because he told us where it was :) I appreciated being given the option. We're very happy with how our wallpaper looks - it's beautiful! Highly recommend, and we would definitely use him again in the future.

Barry did an excellent job! He was timely and even helped move furniture into the appropriate places before putting together our furniture. He clearly knew how to assemble the furniture and put together three pieces (plus helped put up wallpaper) from three different locations. He worked quickly as well. I highly recommend him!

Remove wallpaper. The wall didn't need texture after removing wall paper and they painted. They put on 2 coates of paint. The job itself looked good. However some wall paper was left on the floor and for what they did I think the price could of been lower. Over all I am satisfied with the work they did.

Eric works hard to get the results that he knows will please the customer. I have 11 cats, well trained, but they occasionally have hair balls. Therefore, Eric was able to remove those stains. He does remarkable job!

I just had the interior painting of our home completed by Osbaldo. There was also removal of wallpaper and the installation of crown molding in three rooms. Osbaldo went above and beyond to complete my project and did a wonderful job making our home look beautiful! In fact, we have already given Osbaldo another reference!

There was a list of items from my home inspection that needed attention from the dry rot facia board replacements/seal/paint, cleaning/repair gutters, bathrooms caulking all round/adding trim to door, fixing the hole in the side garage door, stucco fixes/paint and numerous other smaller tasks. Bob made sure that I was satisfied with all the work and that is important. They did a great job. I'll be using them again.

Oscar textured the walls of two rooms where there had previously been wood paneling. He was such a fast no nonsense worker! Great quality texturing and provided several options at a reasonable price. We'll definitely hire him again for any other drywall needs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.

How much does it cost to remove wallpaper in a room?

The national wallpaper removal cost averages $360-$560, which will typically include multiple rooms. Pros often charge by the square foot to remove egregious wallpaper that is long past its prime. Wallpaper removal cost may range anywhere from 60 cents to $1.50 or more per square foot. A pro may estimate removal costs ranging between $160 and $300 for a medium-sized room. Costs can vary due to ceiling height, and some pros add a skim coat to make repainting or re-papering smoother. Here are some examples of average costs to remove wallpaper:

  • Foyer: 36-120 square feet, $21.60-$180.
  • Powder room: 16-36 square feet, $9.60-$54.
  • Living or dining room: 120-252 square feet, $72-$378.
  • Family room: 192-384 square feet, $115.20-$576.
  • Bedroom: 100-224 square feet, $60-$336.
  • Guest bath: 45-84 square feet, $27-$126.
  • Master bedroom: 168-384 square feet, $100.80-$576.
  • Master bath: 54-160 square feet, $32.40-$240.

Once the old wallpaper is gone, the average cost to install new wallpaper is $240-$350.
