Thus far, the lessons with Cosima I have had, have provided daily exercises to work on and specific tips to utilize while leading worship. She is excellent in diagnosing what needs to be done to instill ease of singing and making a beautiful sound. I’d highly recommend her.Jul 11, 2019VerifiedThe Voice Box Music Lessons's reply

Thank you for the kind review, Diane. What a joy to have you in my little studio and to hear you play real music on my piano. I imagine it gets bored of just playing scales. ;-) It's a pleasure to be a part of your vocal journey and hope you'll keep me on your friends list. May your musical pursuits be blessed always!

So glad you had a great experience so far, Brook. It was a pleasure! Thanks for the 5 star review and the high recommendation!
Cosima is a very personable and knowledgeable vocal coach. Her demeanor is comforting yet encouraging when working through those "rough notes". In the short time we have been taking lessons from her, she has given my son much needed confidence to navigate his changing voice. We are very happy to have found Cosima!Jan 20, 2015VerifiedThe Voice Box Music Lessons's reply
Thank you Mary for choosing to follow your vocal journey with me. I enjoy our lesson times together and look forward to watching your son's voice develop and expect a great singing future!
I was a young kid when I realized I had a love for music - it got me through plenty of struggles and hard times, but, due to financial issues, I wasn't able to get voice or other lessons at that age. Now, as a college student, and with a bit more wealth/freedom, I was able to find Cosima as an affordable voice teacher. And later, I found out that she was also just the right type of coach for me. She was able to detect the clear issues that I had been struggling with and dealt with them through both exercises and working on my mental blocks. She has a fantastic way of explaining the workings of the voice - and her interjections are kind, yet firm. She wasn't afraid to explain what was going wrong (in yet another interesting way), but she also never had me feeling bad about it. A fabulous way to learn, I'd say. I am now much more confident with what I need to work on to become a singer that I can be proud of. And I owe so much of my progress to Cosima and her teaching style.Sep 20, 2019VerifiedThe Voice Box Music Lessons's reply
Thanks Cole! Glad to hear you are getting so much out of your lessons. I expect more good things in the future as you pursue great singing! Cheers! 🎶
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I teach voice, guitar, mandolin and ukulele. Rates begin at $35 for 30 min, $45 for 45 min and $55 for 1 hour. Students can choose a "Pay as you go" system or enter into a monthly contract. Monthly contract prices are for 4 lessons a month. That means that if a month has 5 weeks the student gets a FREE LESSON that month. Most of my clients choose to enter into the monthly contract. Keep an eye out for special discounts and promotionals throughout the year! I include teaching at conferences, clinics and workshops that can be customized per event/venue. Cancelations and rescheduling may occur so I keep that in mind and use a grace system. I want my clients to come back so I'm gracious about rescheduling and fees. I also offer instrument rentals at an additional cost.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I'm always seeking to improve my craft. I study technique and music theory on an ongoing basis and research the best ways to help each of my students individually, based on what they want to learn and where they are in their musical journey. I am very excited to have certificates in Science of Singing, Music Theory and Ear Training, Songwriting, and Music Production, focusing on a Specialization Certificate in Modern Musicianship at the Berkeley College of Music. I also hold a JohnHennyAcademy Contemporary Voice Teacher certificate. I've been studying music and singing for more than 20 years with an emphasis on proper vocal technique that insures the singer, whether young or old, a healthy voice throughout their vocal future.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was one of those singers that fit into the "can" category. I grew up singing, performing and teaching others to sing harmony before I graduated elementary school. In High School I was an open air musician during the summer at Knotts Berry Farm and as an adult I was performing every week, singing backup vocals for events in the US and abroad but, I was having trouble with my voice and needed help. When I discovered a technique that saved my voice and improved my singing abilities others began to ask me to help them with their voice too and over time teaching others just naturally developed. When it became evident that my ability to teach others was in demand I acquired certification and started my home studio business.
