About this pro
I'm an active vocalist with over 20 years experience, a singer-songwriter, acoustic guitarist, as well as some mandolin, ukulele and piano, with experience in multiple genres including musical theater, light opera, country, jazz, pop, worship leaders and more. My primary subject is vocals while I also teach a bit of acoustic guitar, mandolin ukulele and piano. I especially love teaching worship leaders and church vocalists workshops, clinics and customized group lessons. I understand the demands and challenges of a busy performance calendar, singing sets for back-to-back audiences day after day and week after week, and the need for a vocalist, no matter what genre, to find the vocal freedom that will produce confidence in their voice for any venue. My first love is helping singers find their voices and the complete vocal freedom to sing whatever they set their hearts on. Most untrained singers struggle with tension and pain when they sing. To them vocal freedom and confidence can seem very elusive. Surprisingly, it's not as elusive as one might think! A voice free from tension that is clear, rich and beautiful from the bottom of one's range to the top without variation in quality is within reach and most students experience some measure of it within the first lessons, some even gaining a full octave in their usable range in their first lessons. Using systematic methods incorporating the study of good technique and learning songs the student enjoys makes progressing more fun and gives the student a greater appreciation of music as a whole while encouraging a passion for music that lasts a lifetime. I encourage and teach sight reading, and theory basics especially for those students who are considering music as a profession.
Customers rated this pro highly for work quality, value, and professionalism.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I teach voice, guitar, mandolin and ukulele. Rates begin at $35 for 30 min, $45 for 45 min and $55 for 1 hour. Students can choose a "Pay as you go" system or enter into a monthly contract. Monthly contract prices are for 4 lessons a month. That means that if a month has 5 weeks the student gets a FREE LESSON that month. Most of my clients choose to enter into the monthly contract. Keep an eye out for special discounts and promotionals throughout the year! I include teaching at conferences, clinics and workshops that can be customized per event/venue. Cancelations and rescheduling may occur so I keep that in mind and use a grace system. I want my clients to come back so I'm gracious about rescheduling and fees. I also offer instrument rentals at an additional cost.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I'm always learning. I study singing technique and music theory on an ongoing basis and research the best ways to help each of my students individually, based on what they want to learn and where they are in their musical journey. I am very excited to have certificates in Science of Singing, Music Theory and Ear Training, Songwriting, and Music Production, focusing on a Specialization Certificate in Modern Musicianship at the Berkeley College of Music. I've been studying music and singing for more than 20 years with an emphasis on proper vocal technique that insures the singer, whether young or old, a healthy voice throughout their vocal future.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was one of those singers that fit into the "can" category. I grew up singing, performing and teaching others to sing harmony before I graduated elementary school. As an adult I was performing every week, singing backup vocals for events in the USA and abroad but, I was having trouble with my voice and needed help. When I discovered a technique that saved my voice and improved my singing abilities others began to ask me to help them with their voice too and over time teaching others just naturally developed. When it became evident that my ability to teach others was in demand I acquired certification and started my home studio business.
