The best pet-sitter ever! The ultimate professional, Cathy checks in ahead of time to confirm, takes excellent care of my pups and leaves without a trace. Best part is that I get pictures and videos of my dogs playing and relaxing, looking very happy. Will have her back again for sure!

I highly recommend Erika as a pet sitter. Erika is flexible, professional, and friendly. Our cat, Bubby, loves her. Erika always sends us videos of Bubby while we're away so we get to see that Bubby is happy and healthy in our absence!

Christina was amazing cat sitter for us. She checked in on Merlin once every couple of days while we were out on a week long vacation. She not only followed every instruction we left her, but also went out of her way to bond with our cat and keep him company (and trust me our cat is not the easiest to bond with). She knowledgeable and confident around pets. I will definitely be checking if she is available next time we need a pet sitter.

I was extremely satisfied with the care my dog received in our absence. Ryan kept me infotmed via text of his visits and how our Layla was doing. I would drfinitely recommend his services. I have never felt comfortable having a pet sitter in my home snd this was a first time. So happy cannot imagine kenneling her when Ryan is availabe and competent.

There is no one better to care for or train your pets. We have left our three rambunctious boys in their care and they always have fun. They are treated like family and always come home well taken care of a little better than when we left them. When we get to Amy's house the boys go nuts! They don't even care when we walk away. If that doesn't speak well I don't know what would! They get one on one care and lots and lots of cuddles. Your pets are in great hands.

Jody was the best cat sitter I could ever have asked for! She came twice a day to feed my kitten and spent a lot of time playing with her everyday. Her price was the best for the quality of care she provided. I highly recommend her to everyone

Phoebe is an animal behavior miracle worker and the best in the industry as far as I m concerned! I cannot say enough good things about working with her! In fact, I don t think words could do justice to how highly I regard her and how positively impact she has been to my life and my family (dog-children included, of course!)! I have two German Shepherd Dogs who are the loves of my life, but they can certainly be a handful without proper training, reinforcement and care. When I first met Phoebe, I only had my female GSD, Ranger, who was about 1yr old at the time and she owned me , so to speak (completely my fault). Thankfully, Phoebe was able to correct some of Ranger s bad behavior s (again, my fault), train me on being a good leader, and get her basic obedience in check, all while maintaining Ranger s personality and attitude . Soon after Phoebe began working with Ranger, my family decided to get a second GSD, Stryker. This time, we worked with Phoebe throughout the entire process of obtaining a new dog, i.e., selecting the right breeder; puppy testing to choose a puppy with the best temperament for my family; selecting a great veterinarian; proper nutrition and supplements; preventing injuries; choosing safe toys; socializing the new puppy; and, introducing the new puppy to the family and to my other dog, Ranger. Once Stryker was old enough, Phoebe trained him extensively and he is now just about the perfect dog, a gentle giant! I now get compliments almost daily on the behavior of my dogs during walks, but to be completely honest, if my dogs were not as well-trained, I probably wouldn't be able to walk them at all. Finally, to top it all off, Phoebe is just a great human being with a work ethic like no other. She has stayed in my home several times with my dogs for extended periods of time and not only have I always returned to clean, better-behaved dogs, but also to an immaculate house! I could go on forever. If anyone is on the fence about hiring her, feel free to call or email me. Choosing Phoebe to work with your beloved dogs will be one of the wisest decisions you make for both your dogs and your family!

Pam took excellent care of our 3 dogs: she walked, fed, brushed them and administered eye drops to one of them. She also demonstrated initiative in the house and kept in touch with me the whole time. I highly recommend her as a dog sitter and will definitely use her services again in the future. She is a trustworthy person, her prices are reasonable and I am glad I found her on Thumbtack!

The first time I met Laura I knew she was a huge animal lover. My sheltie, Charlie, is usually reserved around people he doesn't know, but he took to Laura immediately. In fact, he couldn't wait for Laura to take him on his daily walks - whenever she arrived, he would be at the door ready to go. Charlie also liked to go to Laura's house for pet sitting. I felt very comfortable leaving Charlie at Laura's house because the other dogs she was sitting for were always friendly and never aggressive toward Charlie or toward each other. I highly, highly, recommend Laura Tait for all of her pet services - she's a real gem.

Evie and Johnny took care of our precious daughter pup in February and I'm so glad I went with my intuition and gave their pet sitting service a try. I could tell straight away on meeting Evie that her heart was huge for animals. She also listened carefully to what Odessa's needs were and they honored them, with photo updates too! From these I saw how Dessy bonded with Johnny and she's quite fussy about men. I'm very happy we have sitters now for our furkid any time we go away.

I recently had to go out of town and my regular pet sitter decided to double her rates two days before. So I went searching for a new pet sitter and I found ElizaPets on Nextdoor and I am so very glad I did. My sweet cat became very sick the very first day I left. Elizabeth went above and beyond taking Beimer to her regular vet and then on to Sage (where if you've been there you know you wait for hours to be seen) where we found that Beimer has kidney cancer. Elizabeth help guide me though the whole process long distance with the vets, their diagnosis and treatment options. She then spent time with Beimer, sitting with her in the sun (Beimer loves sitting in the sun), and never once complained nor asked for addition payment. The first pet sitter only spent 10 minutes of her time when she came to care for Beimer. I'm grateful I found and hired Elizabeth. I highly recommend ElizaPets! Thank you Elizabeth!

Wonderful job. Took care of the cat and was very responsive. Even did me a favor and put some food away in the freezer so it wouldn't spoil.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

      • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
      • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
        • 45-minute visit: $28.
        • 60-minute visit: $32.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
        • 12 hours: $100.
        • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
