I had a great experience working with Al. He was very professional and everything was very clear from the beginning about the cost of the job and timelines. He re-built two flights of stairs in our outside staircase. We are very happy with the result! Thanks Al, we would work with you again for sure!

Details: Railing repair - moderate damage (usable but concerns about safety exist) • Outdoor staircase • Residential

We needed custom sheets of stainless steel to be fabricated for our Subzero refrigerator (with ice/water in door) - Al and Val were amazing! They met our aggressive timeline, did *beautiful work*, and were absolutely wonderful to work with! I would hire them again in a nanosecond!

Details: Sheet metal • I need a new item (i.e. fabrication) • Stainless steel • At the pro’s location

It was a pleasure working with Al the Welder, LLC. They were very professional, they took pride in delivering a high quality end result, they were flexible when I ran into a problem and far exceeded my expectations. I will definitely use them again and will refer them to others needing similar services.

Al was amazing to work with and the results exceeded our expectations! From the beginning, Al was super communicative and helped us think through the redesign of our staircase rail by suggesting design choices and sending images to help us see his vision. Once we decided on a direction together, Al was able to start the project in the same week and we could not be happier with the outcome. Al and his partner were also great to have in our house - very professional but also very friendly and easy to talk to. I would totally use Al the Welder again.

Details: Ornamental home (i.e., gates, fences, windows) • I am repairing an existing item (i.e. repair or restoration) • Welding • Wrought iron • My home, venue, etc.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

At Al the Welder, our priority is quality, followed by customer satisfaction. Often times customer's needs get lost when money becomes the priority. You will not find that at Al the Welder. We are clear on our pricing. Quotes are done by text, email or we can send you an itemized quote in writing. We do need money to continue providing our customers with great service and doing what we love. Please review our hourly fees and project deposit policy below. Our Pricing: HOURLY - $100/hr - In-shop (fabrication in our shop) *$50 shop minimum for small jobs less than an hour $150/hr - In-field (work on-site installations, welding, repairs, etc) *$150 minimum $200/hr - Rush/Expedited work request PROJECTS OVER $500 - A 50% deposit is required before work can begin.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It is important that we understand the details of the project first. Given the current global situation and the need for social distancing, there is a great deal of information we can get from the customer without meeting. We are able to communicate by text, email, phone and video chat. - Photos of item, area or ideas help - Measurements of item, area or ideas are very important (if you are unable to do this we are happy to come out and gain this info free of charge) - Pertinent details about the project (metal type, date needed, budget) if you need help figuring out what metal you have, we can help just reach out. This allows for us to give the most accurate estimate of costs and time. Remember that there are no dumb questions, we are all here to learn. We are here to help with your metal project or repair by learning what you need as our customer. Communication is key in our process so questions are necessary.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Al Suarez, owner & fabricator, began welding in his father's shop Brightlight in Santa Clara, California at the age of 14 years old. Spending weekends and after school learning the trade upgraded to full-time Summer work. After high school graduation Al began his long and creative career as a welder and fabricator going on 35 years! From 2010 to 2016 Al the Welder operated as Arc Fusion Fabrication before re-opening in 2020 as Al the Welder. Al has worked within a wide spectrum of metal work including semi-conductors, restaurant/food prep, exercise and equipment, auto restoration /metal repair, handrail, countertops, elegant finishes and fixtures. Al is able to read the most detailed blueprint or sketches on a napkin and make your project happen and within a reasonable budget.
