Fence and Gate Installation

Al the Welder created a beautiful security gate for my business facade that exceeded my expectations! His communication was excellent from start to finish, and he created and installed a unique and artistic gate that not only fulfills the function I wanted, but makes the whole studio front look even better. I’ve received so many compliments on it. Excellent price point, too! Highly recommend Al the Welder and was extremely pleased with his work and workmanship. Thanks, Al and Val!

Fence and Gate Installation

Al did a great job on our fence project. He scoped and built a galvanized square steel tube frame as backing for a "Sonoma barn house style corrugated tin panel" fence in San Francisco. We love it, as it has transformed our back deck and made it more usable.

Al did an amazing job helping us pick a new front gate cover for our home. He was very quick to respond, patiently answered all of my questions (I knew nothing about welding!), and offered us a very fair price. They showed up totally prepared and were in and out very quickly. The new gate looks better than I expected. Even our neighbors couldn’t say enough good things about how great the new gate looks. I would hire him again in an instant! Thank you Al and team for stellar service and a great job!!

Fence and Gate Installation

I hired Al to install a gate. He did an excellent job from start to finish. I highly recommend him. I've also hired him for a smaller job.

Al and his lovely wife were a pleasure to work with. He welded an aluminum gate frame for me - great welds and did a nice job grinding it down. Great value, great people! And excellent value. And also a great dog named Bear. Highly recommend!

We are clear on our pricing. Quotes are done by text, email or we can send you an itemized quote in writing. We do need money to continue providing our customers with great service and doing what we love. Please review our hourly fees and project deposit policy below. Our Pricing: HOURLY - $100/hr - In-shop (fabrication in our shop) *$50 shop minimum for small jobs less than an hour $150/hr - In-field (work on-site installations, welding, repairs, etc) *$150 minimum $200/hr - Rush/Expedited work request PROJECTS OVER $500 - A 50% deposit is required before work can begin.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It is important that we understand the details of the project first. Given the current global situation and the need for social distancing, there is a great deal of information we can get from the customer without meeting. We are able to communicate by text, email, phone and video chat. - Photos of item, area or ideas help - Measurements of item, area or ideas are very important (if you are unable to do this we are happy to come out and gain this info free of charge) - Pertinent details about the project (metal type, date needed, budget) if you need help figuring out what metal you have, we can help just reach out. This allows for us to give the most accurate estimate of costs and time. Remember that there are no dumb questions, we are all here to learn. We are here to help with your metal project or repair by learning what you need as our customer. Communication is key in our process so questions are necessary.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Al Suarez, owner & fabricator, began welding in his father's shop Brightlight in Santa Clara, California at the age of 14 years old. Spending weekends and after school learning the trade upgraded to full-time Summer work. After high school graduation Al began his long and creative career as a welder and fabricator going on 35 years! From 2010 to 2016 Al the Welder operated as Arc Fusion Fabrication before re-opening in 2020 as Al the Welder. Al has worked within a wide spectrum of metal work including semi-conductors, restaurant/food prep, exercise and equipment, auto restoration /metal repair, handrail, countertops, elegant finishes and fixtures. Al is able to read the most detailed blueprint or sketches on a napkin and make your project happen and within a reasonable budget.
