Latest Review: Modest and magical.
The atmosphere was calm and inviting, there was light music playing, and she had candles and aromatherapy diffusers that smelled amazing.
I had come because I was experiencing terrible pain in my left shoulder. I was treated to a little energy-work session before the massage. I hadn't even told her where my pain was, and as she moved her hands around me, I felt a cool, tingling sensation around my left shoulder blade. I don't have a lot of experience with energy work (and I've always been a little skeptical about that sort of thing) so I was surprised to feel or 'sense' anything.
The massage was wonderful. I had initially requested she uses Deep Tissue, which I've had bad experiences with in the past. But I'd heard from a friend that she uses a technique that's deep and firm, but not rigorous or painful. I was skeptical at first, but wow, they were right!
After explaining the benefits, she also used different techniques and modalities to address my pain, including something called 'cross fiber' and Tui-Na. She really took the time to work on those knots and spots of tension.
Usually, it takes me around 15 minutes to settle into bed, but I think I was asleep before my head even hit the pillow that night!
She contacted me the next day to ask how I was feeling. After confessing that I felt a bit more tired than usual, she informed me that I might feel a little run-down for a couple of days as toxins left my body, and reminded me to rest and hydrate.
This is much different from your typical spa or resort massage. Philolus really takes the time to cater to your individual needs
She's an incredible massage therapist, her work is fantastic, and she made me feel very cared for. I can't wait to come back!
