Why I love Shape Up Studio...There are several reasons. First of all, there is something about that gym that feels different. There's really good energy and the atmosphere feels relaxed and fun at the same time. All the trainers are so kind, approachable and very knowledgeable. I've been going there for a few months now and have gotten to meet Markshane. He's very dedicated, professional, and filled with energy. He takes the time to really listened and help you reach your goals, whether it's loosing weight, training for an event, or simply keeping an active lifestyle. I also love my 30 minute circuit class on Tues & Thursdays with Vinny. That class is super fun and you go at your own pace. Getting massages with Christine, the massage therapist, is also a treat-Especially, when it's in the same building. They have a nutritionist there as well that can guide you and keep you on track. A lot of the comments below definitely resonated and seems that there is a commonality: and that is a great place to train with the support you need. That is why I love Shape Up Studio! P.s. I have been training with Wess and so far my experience has been great! He pushes me hard, motivates me to keep pushing forward and works with my crazy work schedule! I highly recommend Wess. Lana has been a great personal trainer for my needs. I think she was a perfect match for me in the sense that she isn't as aggressive as other trainers yet pushes me further than I think I can go. Therefore I feel comfortable with the training sessions and do not dread going to see her. I have seen amazing results sooner than I had anticipated.
Dustin "IS" the best trainer!! He knows exactly how to MOTIVATE, ENCOURAGE, COMMUNICATE, and most importantly TRAIN his clients. Today was my first session, and while we were training he made sure that I was good. Each time I felt like calling it quits, his words and attitude kept me from quitting. For these reasons I will continue to Move Forward with Dustin, and I HIGHLY suggest everyone that is reading this review does the same and MOVE FORWARD with Dustin of course!!!!
I hired Tom initially to get in shape for my approaching wedding in Hawaii, which I then continued for 3 months after as the results were excellent. Tom pays attention to your goals, habits, metabolic type, and physical abilities. His diet suggestions and diversity in workout routines kept things interesting and fun (as fun as working out can be at first!) Tom's knowledge of CrossFit training, weights, and various other disciplines set him apart from your typical 24hr fitness trainer. He was willing to be flexible with my work schedule and was always available for a quick call or text. Tom provides encouragement, support, and puts together a solid plan to achieve your goals. I would highly recommend Tom for anyone hesitant or intimidated by the gym and or initial commitment of getting in shape.
I recently did a private instruction session with A. Doyle. It was my second time ever doing yoga and I was intimidated by the atmosphere of a gym class. Allison's instruction was the perfect alternative. I didn't feel self-concious at all. I learned classic yoga poses and breathing techniques. She tailored the lesson to my beginner level and was very attune to my particular strengths and limitations. She had alernative poses ready for me in the case that something was too challenging, so I never felt like I "couldn't" do the lesson. She was attentive to correcting my form (making "adjustments") so that I had a good foundation to start on. I feel that in a group class I wouldn't have gotten nearly the personal attention. She takes her time and even repeated the lesson once we were finished (without my asking) so I could try it at a different pace and with my new knowledge. I appreciated that she didn't watch the clock or appear rushed in the least. She seems to truly love what she does and is perfectly suited for private instruction. Her rate is more than fair for the quality of instruction you receive.
I've been doing personal training since 2010 through many different trainers, my all time favorite was with Brittany. I went through a phase where I wasn't conditioned to training, had gained weight and wasn't use to lifting weights. The first time we trained together, I thought it was really weird but she made it of importance about my breathing and posture and didn't just get right back into lifting like I use to. A couple sessions later, I really actually felt a difference because she made it important to recondition myself and make sure that I breathe properly while I train! She not only made me feel physically fit, she was a great person to talk to, and made me feel great while I worked out and constantly pushed me to be a better person. I wouldn't ever want another trainer, and when I'm done with my break from training, Brittany and I are going to be back out there hitting those new PR's!
I love Lisa! Her prices are unbeatable, and she's very understanding and flexible. Our sessions are always super fun, and she feels like family. She pushes when you say push, but is careful to avoid anything that could strain or injure you. I referred my sister to start training with her as well, and she really likes it too.
I did a lot of research on the internet on Fitness Trainers before deciding on Colby and was thoroughly impressed & satisfied with the training program he set out for me. I loved the professionalism of the whole experience; his knowledge, work ethic, the FACILITY & STAFF. It was not a "meat locker" but people with a common purpose working hard to attain it. What I love was Colby was 100% on me in training ... no wandering eyes, answering phone with other clients and NEVER gave me the sense he was board with what he was doing. Always encouraging and keenly aware of what I was going thru mentally as well as physically. Though I have moved out of the area, I still hitting him up with advice and help & he always responds ... he is the man! Try that with some of the other trainers after your contract is up! Highly recommend him to anyone that is serious about their training on ALL levels. I am no pin up model lol. Thanks Colby!
Candon is the first personal trainer that I have stuck with- Now for over 2 years! I am already very knowledgeable about exercise and weight training, but Candon takes my workouts to the next level and keeps me motivated. He is a true professional that makes the sessions fun and challenging. He genuinely cares about his clients and knows everything there is to know about building muscle and avoiding potential injuries. I am so grateful to have found him!

Sam is one of the best trainers I have ever worked with. She knows her profession and has helped me improve on my weaknesses and strengths regarding sports performance and on the basketball court training as well. She is worth way more than what she charges and is a great deal for what you get out of it! As a Division one athlete she understood the quality of training I needed and her program exceeded my expectations .
After having an injury related to distance running and switching to a cross fit style workout and getting a lower back injury I was feeling very discouraged. I started working with Jon and could not be happier with the workouts and results. He really takes into account not only what exercises I need to be doing to recover from my injuries, but also what type of training I want to be doing. A lot of trainers will put clients on a plan without considering what the client likes or what type of workouts they would like to do. I’ve really enjoyed progressing with heavier lifts and having the one on one training has been crucial to not becoming injured again. I always have fun with Jon and could not be happier with my expierence training with him.

I had the privilege to work with Lisa Michele and give her program my highest recommendation! The 90-day program put together by Lisa exceeded all my expectations! She taught me different ways to think about food, in terms of eating and preparing food. We also spent time discussing fitness topics, and even though I live in Phoenix, she was able to prescribe an exercise program that helped me meet my fitness and health goals. I finally lost those stubborn last 10 pounds I struggled to lose, strengthened my upper body and I even ran my first 5K race, with her training program, support, and encouragement. Lisa has a friendly personality, abundant energy, empathetic soul, and is a genuinely good person. Her program really worked for me.
Josh knows what he is talking about. He is more than a trainer he is a teacher and you really feel like you are learning about your body when you work with him. That type of information is uncommon and invaluable. He truly cares about his clients as well making himself available for guidance even outside of training hours. There is a clear difference in working with him than other trainers, he puts thought into the workouts so they are mentally and physically stimulating and tracks progress for clients. Without a doubt the best trainer in the San Diego area.
Working with John is great! He's very knowledgeable on strength training and nutrition. And he comes right to you! (I can work out conveniently at the fitness center in our condo community.) Also, his price is very reasonable.
Jeremy is incredibly knowledgeable and patient as he gives instructions and goes through the moves. I am currently taking private training sessions from Jeremy and I am learning so much. I feel very empowered because of Jeremy's instruction. He is a very professional, encouraging AWESOME boxing/kickboxing instructor!
Maggie was my trainer in SF until she broke my heart and relocated to San Diego. I really enjoyed our time together as she incorporated things I like to do (Pilates, strength training) into my routine while making sure I never got bored. She also made me do things I don't like (running, stairs) to make sure that my workout was well rounded. I also had never worked out outside before (and didn't think I would like it) and found out that it could be very enjoyable.
