- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices in Thumbtack are starting prices based on a simple return. The fees will increase as the return gets more complicated.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In the first 10 minutes or so, I try to engage my clients and have them tell me what they are expecting on the return in question. Then I will ask to see their prior year returns and ask related questions so that we are clear on determining our outcome, and then asking more questions on their current situation and to see how it relates to the current year. I then explain how I will proceed in processing the return and ask if there are any more questions. There is always a lot of dialogue which i feel helps to make everyone concerned more comfortable.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been doing taxes now for over 15 years and I passed the Enrolled Agent exam in 2011. This exam enables me to better help taxpayers with issues they may be facing with the IRS. Each year I search out classes to better help my clients. For example, classes for cancelled debt or for sales of stock. This year I may be looking for more health care classes, like Health Saving Accounts.These are just a few examples.
