Introduction: I don’t just give you exercises... I explain why you’re doing them. I don’t just give you a diet... I explain why that diet will work for you! Mission Statement: I want to demystify fitness and make it accessible to everyone. I want to give my clients the tools to achieve their goals and a comprehensive knowledge about why those tools work for them. Then we do assessments... body alignment, movement, measurements, strength, balance, coordination. I take the time to get to know you and where you are in your fitness journey before we start. At last, I start to develop a customized diet and exercise plan to take you from where you are to where you want to be! No diet or exercise plan is one size fits all. Once you’ve reached YOUR goal, MY goal is that you’ll be able to take the knowledge you’ve gained from our workouts and apply it going forward to sustain your results. Whether you’re in a park or a fully equipped gym you’ll never again be confused about what to do. I want you to understand how your body works so you’ll know how to work your body! An extra bonus when working with me is that I’ll do my best to make it fun. I love to make my clients laugh... at me, with me, at themselves, at the absurdity of why this really isn’t that complicated. I want you to work, sure... but I also want you to feel like you’re spending time with a friend... a really knowledgeable fun funny friend who calls you on your bull$h!t when necessary!

I embarked on a life changing approach with weight loss surgery. One month following my procedure, I realized I needed to find a trainer who could help me ‘where I was at’ with this journey. The weight was going to come off no matter what, but my strength and stamina needed work. Karen has been an incredible partner. When I met her I could not do do a plank or more than 6 box squats at a time. In 2 months I’m doing more than I ever thought possible. She has been instrumental in teaching me fundamentals and has demystified some of that scary gym equipment that intimidates us novices. I’m grateful for the learning and especially thankful that I was never made to feel out of place; she meets you where you are.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    My prices and packages are based on my clients’ needs. Sessions usually last about 1 hour and the average cost is $65/hour. First session is complimentary!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    In addition to being a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Senior Exercise Specialist, Certified Nutritionist... I have 15 years of experience as a medical professional. I understand the science behind fitness and can explain why what works for you works... and why other things haven’t.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    Just before I turned 50 I was 50lbs overweight, had high cholesterol, borderline hypertension, and borderline type 2 diabetes. In 5 months I lost 40lbs and lowered my cholesterol 87 points. It took 35 years of dieting fails (and nominal successes) to figure out what works for me. At 55 I can keep up with my 23 year old daughter in the gym, I’m medication free, and all my bloodwork is in normal ranges. In 2017 I became a personal trainer so I can help other people achieve their health and fitness goals. If I can do it, anybody can!
