I hired Casiano's to replace my kitchen faucet. The faucet was making noise and then water spray got clocked. I had already purchased a replacement faucet that was recommended by my HOA, so I just needed someone to come and replace it. I wasn't able to be present, but my renters liked that setup was friendly and professional. When I arrived to inspect the work, I found everything as good as new. I also appreciated Casiano's flexibility to accept payment via PayPal. This allowed me to not bother my renters with payments, inspect the work afterwards and pay without scheduling further visits.

Oscar re-routed the drain for our washing machine, snaked our bathtub, and adjusted the temp on a shower. The drain ending up being a significant amount of work, but got the machine working as we had hoped and made life a whole lot easier for us (who wants to air dry laundry?). Oscar and his nephew were great to work with. Meticulous work, prompt, thorough, and gave us a very reasonable deal for the work done. Came back multiple times to get the job done right. He'll be the first person I call for future jobs.

Rudy was fantastic! We had just bought a new house and the dryer was having problems with pushing air out through the dryer duct. Rudy was prompt, figured out what needed to be done and completed the work in less than an hour. I highly recommend him for duct cleaning!

Very professional and more importantly -- honest. The technician went up on the roof to check the air conditioner and apparently there was just a contact that was stuck. He said it had something to do with the starter and that due to the age of my air conditioner, he did not know if he could find a replacement for it. However, he apparently just hit the side of the air conditioner and it unstuck the contact point that was stuck. The air conditioner is currently working so I'm happy. He only charged me for the service call and didn't try to sell me unnecessary parts or make an issue out of a minor fix. Much appreciated!

Carlos and his team did a great job and on short notice. They completely replaced all heating and air ducting in the entire home (1800 square feet). He was very professional and gave us lots of good information on heating and cooling that was outside of the work he was doing. He and is crew finished all the work one day and removed all old materials. Not only did I feel he was the most professional and knowledgeable, but his price was the best out of 4 bid we received, can't beat that. Great job Carlos!

I Found Element Home Solutions company through Thumbtack Website. I Hired them to do Attic Insulation in my home. The Guys were Very Professional and Customer Oriented. They Explained me all the Procedure they would perform to get the job done. They Cleaned out the Attic and they had some good high powered machine which vacuumed all the old Insulation. And then Installed me new R30 Batt Insulation. I was Very Impressed with the quality of job they performed so I had them also install me a New Air Conditioner since I did not have one before. Kao was on time, professional and honest. He Was very thorough in his inspection and straight forward and detailed with recommending a solution. The other guy made all these promises which left me scratching my head as to how it would work and they kept saying "don't worry we'll make it good" and never really got into detail about how it would be done. There was no beating around the bush or some sales tatic he was trying to implement (I'm in sales). He installed my heating and duct work system in 2 days and now me and my family have have heat and the air flow we desired for so long! Thank you! Will recommend again!

Superb! After looking around and getting multiple estimates we finally found the perfect company for the job. Ricardo, the owner of Bayhill Heat and Air is a very honest guys, he runs a very professional and well rounded company. What he promised is what he delivered. He ensures the work is done to exceed the customer's expectations and especially his own (which is way beyond what I was expecting). The crew came, worked nonstop to deliver the system on time and everything looked unbelievably good. They didn't cut any corners to make it perfect. Thanks Ricardo (and team) , your company is the best HVAC company in town, hands down.

Micah is very professional. I hired him to replace the roof air vent due to potential water leaking. He checked the roof and attic, confirmed leaking existed, and explained to me patiently what happened on the vents. He found that although there are two vents, only one is used. He suggested installing one new vent. He did everything in a timely manner and cleaned up. His price is also very reasonable. Highly recommend!

My air conditioner broke down and the temperature inside the house rose to a balmy 89 degrees. It was one of those days in California. My two kids and wife weren't pleased. I called Greg who made time for me the very next day. Saw the problem immediately and diagnosed a malfunctioning converter motor. Greg checked the entire system and gave tips on how best to maintain a properly working AC system. He repaired and replaced the motor efficiently and at a reasonable cost. He is a very nice guy as well on top of the fact that he knows what he's doing. Thank you, Greg.

Do you have any idea how dangerous your dryer vent can be? Oh don't worry, we're not talking about the one you pull out after each dryer load and swipe the lint out of. You handily throw away a very small percentage of the actual lint pulled from that dryer load. So, where did the other 75% go? The majority of the lint that is pulled from your clothing, blankets, towels, etc. is deposited in that shiny silver pipe known as the dryer vent or duct work. In some houses, it may be just a couple of feet, while in others, we have seen hoses as long as 30 feet or more. It's actually quite scary when you learn about just how dangerous this can be.

We repair and install all air conditioning and appliance and provide 100% customer satisfaction. We work with the customer's schedule.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is an HVAC system?

The letters in HVAC stand for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. An HVAC system enables you to regulate your home or building’s internal temperature (thermal control) for comfortable living and working. You can bring heat levels down in the summer and up in the winter, keeping your home or office livable year-round. HVAC systems can also help with humidity levels and regulate indoor air quality in a home or office. There are many types of HVAC systems and technologies available.

Many homes have a forced-air HVAC system. Both the heating and the central air conditioning units share a ductwork system where they either push in or pull out warm or cooled air. There are also heating and cooling systems that don’t require ductwork — such as ductless mini-splits — but work on the same principles of heat exchange. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670, with costs varying depending on the work you need done and the equipment you are installing.

How many years does HVAC last?

The number of years an HVAC system lasts depend on the type and brand of components that make up your system. The lifespan of an air conditioner averages between 15 and 20 years. The life expectancy of a tankless water heater is approximately 20 years, while a storage water heater is closer to 10-15 years. Ducts may need replacing within 10-15 years. Your equipment will have a longer life if you have regular tuneups and maintenance to keep everything in good working order. If you’re having repair problems and your HVAC system is over 10 years old, it’s a good time to consider the costs and benefits of repairing vs. replacing. Energystar.gov provides the following tips to help you decide whether to repair or replace:

  • Your HVAC system needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are increasing.
  • Your cooling or heating equipment is less efficient.
  • Rooms in your home are too hot or too cold.
  • Your heat pump or air conditioner is more than 10 years old.
    • Replacing your system with an Energy Star-certified unit could save up to 20 percent on your heating and cooling bills.
  • Your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old.
    • You may choose to replace your system with an Energy Star-certified furnace (which is 15 percent more efficient than a conventional furnace) or an Energy Star-certified boiler (which is 5 percent more efficient).
  • Your home has humidity problems.
  • Your home has excessive dust.
    • Leaky ducts can pull particles and air from attics, crawl spaces and basements and distribute them throughout your house. Sealing your ducts may be a solution.
  • Your heating or cooling system is noisy.
    • You could have an undersized duct system or a problem with the indoor coil of your cooling equipment.
  • Your score on the Home Energy Yardstick is below five.
    • That means your home energy use is above average and you're probably paying too much for your utilities.

How much does it cost to get central air?

Prices for central-air HVAC systems will vary. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670 but can run as high as $5,000 or even $12,000 depending on the capacity you need and other factors. Installing central air conditioning requires an entire system that works together to draw hot air out of your home. The system includes an outdoor unit, which houses the condenser and compressor, and the evaporator coils. If you don’t have an existing duct system, ductwork will need to be installed, which will affect labor and material costs. Leaking or damaged ducts will also need to be replaced.

How much does it cost for a new air conditioning unit?

If you’re ready for a new air conditioning unit, it’s time to start exploring HVAC prices. The price will vary depending on the type of air conditioner you buy and its cooling capacity. Window units, which require minimal installation, are one of the most affordable options on the market. If you’re purchasing from a big-box store, you can expect to pay approximately $120-$1,000 for a window unit. Window units are appealing for their quick setup and relatively low cost, but they can use more energy over time than central air and only cool the room in which they’re installed. Portable air conditioners don’t have the cooling power of a window unit, but they do have the perk of being transportable from room to room. Expect to pay between $225 and $800 for a portable air conditioner, on average. For a whole-house air conditioning system with coils, condenser and line (not including installation or ductwork), the cost from a big-box store can range from approximately $2,000 to $4,000 or more. If you don’t have (and don’t want to put in) ducts, a ductless mini-split air conditioner is a good option, although pricey up front. Pricing can range from $650 to $4,250 per unit on average; you’ll need one unit for each room in which you want temperature control.
