I haven't been swimming in years but have just started training for a triathlon. Veronique's clear instruction, tailored to my needs, helped me enormously with the fundamentals of swimming - important concepts I was never taught as a child on swim team! Her expertise will be invaluable as I learn to navigate the water with strength and efficiency.

Suzie is an amazing coach. If you are looking to improve your stroke, move from the pool to open water, compete in a triathlon or swim the English Channel - you won't find a better person to help you. Suzie is realistic. She doesn't make demands on a swimmer they aren't ready for - and pushes you that little extra just when you need it. I've watched her help a new swimmer get comfortable in the water and a few hours later coach an accomplished English Channel swimmer on nuances of feeds in the water, resetting a kick. She is great at swim technique and swim training plans! When it comes to training and the various needs from gear, travel, feeding/nutrition - no one knows this space better. Best of all?? She's nice and grounded! With everything Suzie has accomplished in swimming there could be a big ego... further from the truth. She is the most humble person and only talks about this if you really beg her to. Why? Her work speaks for itself, she doesn't need to brag. She's your coach and when you're in the water it's all about YOU and getting YOU to the best results. Incredible experience - cannot recommend highly enough.

Scott found a good swim spot for us to practice at. He also provided a bunch of resources — and was painstaking in working on my stroke. Highly recommended.

I teach the basic four strokes. I also will help any fear or phobias of drowning get resolved with a for-sure-to-stay above-water tread and float. I will teach how to safely and properly dive, and if interested, how to compete in a professional swimming meet.

About

Hello! My name is Jen, and I'm a 26-year-old assistant aquatic director at U.C. Berkeley who would love nothing more than to teach you or your child to swim. Swimming and swimming instruction are my passions that I enjoy sharing with others. I have 10 years of experience working with children and adults of all ages, including children with fear of water, special needs, and other specific circumstances. I have experience coaching swimming at the masters level and waterpolo. I am lifeguard and lifeguard instructor certified, emergency medical responder certified as well as CPR certified for the professional rescuer (adult and pediatric). I live in the Oakland area, but would be willing to travel in the evenings to either teach at your home or local community pool. Swim lessons can be expensive and often impersonal. As someone who has worked in aquatic programs for a long time, my wish is that your child will get a quality experience at a cost less than what you would pay at a swim school. My rates are as follows: * A single private lesson (30 minutes) -- $40 * A package of five private lessons -- $175 * A package of 10 private lessons -- $300 Before any lessons are taught, a swim lesson agreement will be signed as well as payment in full. Because I work full-time, I will only be taking on one to two clients depending on location and the amount of lessons that are paid for. I have references available upon request, who would be more than willing to speak on my behalf. Have a great day!

About

Because my background has been in competitive aquatics, I have been able to create a lesson plan that is geared towards competitive development. My belief is that it is important to learn how to swim as you would compete with it for the best results. It is important to learn technically vs practically. The swim lessons that I offer are completely tailored to my clients and their goals. I have been teaching swim lessons privately and for other swim schools locally for over 5 years years while continuing to train as a collegiate athlete. As new techniques and cutting edge systems are brought up through my training, I integrate them into my swim process for the most current and advanced guidance for maximum results.
