Simply Music piano lessons are a most wonderful learning experience for me. I am a fifty-something with no prior music knowledge and I did not think that I have a music bone in me. Sheri believes, and she convinced me, that all of us have music in us and that Simply Music can teach us to enjoy and play music at any skill level. That is amazingly true. Sheri is an experienced and very good teacher. She is always very positive and encouraging, making playing the piano a lot of fun; she is resourceful in coming up with ideas to help us remember music pieces better, and constantly reminding us that we now have the tools to help ourselves in our music journey. I love that.

I have been a Simply Music Student of Sheri Reingold for a little over a year now and I continue to enjoy this unique way to learn to play the piano. I must admit I was a bit skeptical at first but I liked the metaphor of comparing the way we learned to speak and then write and read to the way we could learn to play the piano. This made a lot of sense to me initially and I believe it really works. It is great to be able to play from the start and I can truly see how the patterns that are music are instilled from the beginning and help you to grow and become very comfortable with more complex songs. I especially like how it encourages you to improvise and create your own music. I do believe that these skills will help when we begin to read music which for our group will be coming. Sheri is always encouraging and does not make us feel bad about our shortcomings. Learning to play the piano has always been on my bucket list and I must say I am thoroughly enjoying the experience. I am so glad I discovered her add in the paper and decided to check it out. I would recommend it and her highly.

Not all Simply Music teachers are the same! I've taken lesson from another and came away with a 'HUH'? From the get go, I could tell that Sheri know the 'Simply Music' method inside out. She is passionate about 'Simply Music', and is experienced teaching it. I am a senior who started with zero music/piano knowledge, and much trepidation. A year later, I am playing at Level 4 of 'Simply Music'. I can sit down at a piano and play from memory. I can play classical pieces such as 'Ode to Joy', 'Minuet in G', 'Fur Elise' and 'Sonata in C'. I can also play some blues, many contemporary pieces, plus accompaniments to songs such as 'Star Spangled Banner' and 'Auld Lang Syne'. Now, Sheri is teaching me music reading, music rhythm and navigation skills. She unfailingly listens to my questions/problems and comes up with solutions. Sure, I have to practice everyday, but I am never bored nor discouraged. Sheri makes the learning process so interesting that I Want to practice at home. I have observed children's classes. Sheri is fun, kindly and nurturing as she guides them through the lesson. She is never stern or ever intimidating. I have never seen a child that was unhappy to be at Sheri's class. This has been such a year of steady progress, of self-affirmation and making a life-long dream come true. I am so glad that I found Sheri. Its time to make your dream come true!

We have been taking piano with Sheri for almost 3 years. My daughter started with the Play-A-Story method and it was so wonderful for a young child (5 years old) to understand the basics of piano, playing chords AND improvising, and not even know they are being taught. This is the method for you if you don't want your children to be bored with rote memorization of notes and reading music, this unique method and Sheri's love of teaching makes learning piano fun! They are still learning the notes and the chords at a very young age, but they are actually PLAYING music almost immediately which gives them the confidence and excitement you need to keep their interest! At age 5 she began with the chords and drawing stories and then 'played the story', on the piano, improvising what she drew using the chords she learned, etc. From there we are now playing songs like Ode to Joy, Amazing Grace and Fur Elise and many more, she is composing and playing duets. We are thrilled with my daughter's progress. Miss Sheri is very dedicated and enthusiastic and professional. I highly recommend Sheri to anyone!

My 5-year-old son and I have been attending Sheri's Simply Music program for over a year. My initial skepticism at her novel teaching method was soon replaced by both relief and wonderstruck. I'm relief that my son and I are enjoying our practice time. It's exactly the opposite of the stern looks and tearful piano practice time that I so dreaded. I am wonderstruck by the ease of which my son picked up these musical concepts, internalize it, and mix them together. Sheri nurtured and encouraged both the little ones and the parents to experiment, to approach music not mechanically, but as an emotive language. Countless parents have tried to beat music into their children (be it piano or violin or any instruments), the Simply Music program seeks to instill the love of music, not as an abstraction, but as expressions of feelings, moods, colors..etc. My son's attention span continues to improve, and I use the music program as an incentive (yes you read that right, piano time = carrot) for him to behave. Here is the big disclaimer, your mileage will vary by the level of effort you are willing to invest: One parent is expected to play the role of a coach for practice at home on a consistent basis. With only 5 or 10 minutes a day, the results are amazing. I'm grateful to Sheri for introducing both my son & I to this hidden world of music, which will be a source of a lifelong discovery and joy.
