FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge flat fees for bankruptcy cases. I find that's good for clients because you know in advance how much the case will cost. The fees are based on the the complexity of the case. That means we will need to have an initial consultation before I can tell you exactly how much the fees will be. Fortunately, initial consultations (which last about 45 minutes) are completely free and without obligation.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step is to have our free initial consultation. We discuss your situation, and then discuss what kind of a case makes sense for you. Then you decide whether to hire me. If you do, an initial partial payment is required at that time. I take your documents, do my due diligence, and start writing your petition. Meanwhile, you take your mandatory pre-filing class. When you're ready, we have another appointment where you review, correct, and sign the petition documents, pay the remaining fees, and get ready to file the case. Every case is unique, so what happens next is based on your specific circumstances.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in 1996. I received my law degree from UC Hastings in San Francisco in 2006, and was admitted to practice that same year. I began doing bankruptcy cases in 2008. I am currently the top-reviewed Oakland bankruptcy lawyer on a review site that begins with Y.
