RIcardo was great - super helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. He was incredibly responsive and was willing to pitch in on additional things to help make my move out as smooth as possible. For projects he helped install some flooring, paint, move some furniture and patch some holes. Would recommend him for sure.

I'm new in town and found Dennis on Thumbtack. He is amazing!! I've worked in the flooring business for years, so I knew what to look for! He is a top of the line professional. Came out for a small 12x12 office carpet job and was finished in 3 hours! Very detail oriented. Works hard till job is complete. Now I will have him quote a larger commercial vinyl job. He truly is the BEST in the business!

I hired Gusanito to install porcelain tiles in my bathroom. He was very prompt--being the first contractor to contact me on thumbtack--and quickly responded to my text messages whenever I had a question. He takes his time and is very detailed in his work. He is also willing to help you with other problems. For example, in addition to installing the tiles, I also wanted to change my sink faucet and shower handles. He agreed to do the extra work at a reasonable price. The tile installation went smoothly, however, we ran into plumbing issues which he couldn't solve. I'm giving him four stars because I hired him on thumbtack for tile installation services, not plumbing. Nonetheless, he agreed to bring his cousin (who is an experienced plumber) over the next day to change my sink faucet at no extra cost. The total work took about two full days to complete, but I'm sure it would have been less if we didn't run into the plumbing issues. So I recommend him but make sure you talk with him thoroughly about what you want to accomplish.

I hired Mauricio to paint a single interior wall in an office building. He did a great job, and came by a day early to confirm the color choice. He was very professional and was easy to communicate with via text (we all know its the easiest way). I highly recommend Mauricio!

Pros: Jasper was prompt in responding, punctual, friendly, and completed the work quickly. I was impressed that he finished this project in one day; whereas other contractors seemed to indicate it was more work and more difficult. I would hire him again. Some areas he can improve: There were a couple of minor areas that were knicked on our kitchen island that I didn't notice until cleaning up. Also, I think he could have done a little better cleaning up the island- wiping down the cabinet fronts that had a light layer of dust (I did this myself). Finally, I gave him a box of stain & top coat that the previous owners left to us. He applied them but I noticed they didn't leave the counter shiny, like the finish we had before he sanded. After Jasper left, my husband realized we were missing the water sealant coat which we had in the garage. So now we are applying this coat ourselves to make the island water- proof and give it the same shine. This isn't totally Jasper's fault since I gave him the supplies but I would have liked if he would have noted that something seemed to be missing or off (or given his recommendations on what he would have stained/sealed it with to make sure the wood stayed water proof.) Overall, I'm happy with the work.

Gerald came the same morning when I contact him. He gave me a pretty reasonable quote for power washing my garage & drive way & put the epoxy paint in the garage. My garage and driveway were totally de face from rebuilding from a fire. Gerald started the next day after our appointment . He came on time, help move my stuff & did his job efficiently . He was supposed to be able to finish the next day with the epoxy paint but I requested one more day for drying time. He was very flexible to accommodate my needs. My garage looks great and his team came back another time to move all my stuff back to the garage. I will definitely recommend Big league painting for efficiency, on time and reasonable pricing.

Marvin did a wonderful job painting our kitchen cabinets and staircase banister. He told us he would paint over the over spray in our kitchen but only one out of three spots where theres overspray did he actually fix. He also said he’d be putting back the little felt circles so the doors and drawers wouldnt slam as much but, he did not. He also isn’t an on time kind of person, but is very responsive thru text and does get the job done. Our kitchen cabinets and banister were previously that gross honey oak color.

Generally decent job Would have given him 5 stars except that- 1. Did not paint the right sheen as per the discussed project 2. Did not wait for the first coat of epoxy to dry for 24 hrs as it should have been supposed to be. I am not sure if I got the 2 coats I paid for. 3. Missing attention to detail to the paint areas 4. Taking up responsibility 5. Lack of Communication

I hired Juan Carlos Mora at Pandas Painting to paint three rooms and a domed ceiling. I was impressed with both Juan Carlos and his foreman, Rodrigo, who came out to give the initial quote and was the primary painter on the job. Their quote was extremely competitive - about 40% lower than the next-best bidder, and about 75% lower than the highest bidder. But I could tell from Rodrigo's comments about the work to be done that the competitive price did not mean low quality, it just meant a very good deal for the work to be done very well. They did the work in a very timely way (starting on Sunday July 5), and completely met my expectations about the quality of the work - all edges were caulked, texture problems on the existing walls were repaired, in some rooms the ceiling was repainted to correct previous patches, and the quality of the paint job and particularly the edge cutting was immaculate. I was so pleased with the job and the very reasonable price that I immediately asked them to do another project: painting another room, and three closet interiors. They also gave a very reasonable bid on this work, did the work in a timely and professional way, and delivered a great result with highest quality. I found both Juan Carlos and Rodrigo to be professional, courteous, and friendly, and very knowledgeable and trustworthy. They followed through on every commitment they made, and it was clear that they really wanted me to be very happy with the job. I will use Pandas Painting again for future projects, and I recommend them very highly. Sincerely, L.W., Milpitas, CA

Kris responded promptly to my project request. And even though we decided to move forward with a wooden retaining wall, instead of a concrete wall, he offered great advice on how to improve the waterproofing and longevity of the wood wall. I appreciate his professionalism and wouldn’t hesitate to contact Kris for future home improvement projects.

Installed quartz countertop with tile backsplash. It was a little hard getting him to understand some things such as how to install the faucet, but job was good for the price.

Carlos was extremely pleasant. I hired him to paint one bedroom and a walk-in closet. The bedroom included 3 different paint colors: the ceiling a metalic silver; Window and doors trimmed in white; Walls/closet in a blue/gray. He showed up on time 8am and was done by the same afternoon, but due to some areas missed (that I had to point out) it delayed a bit. I must say Carlos gladly retouched areas and I must say he sealed a couple of cracks that he noticed prior to painting - a smooth finish. I'm pleased.

As a licensed painting contractor, I have worked with many floor covering contractors. Rise Above Flooring has worked with my company on several projects. I have personally been involved with Aaron's projects on multiple occasions and can say that the quality of his companies installations is far and above the work that I would want in my home or business. If you are looking for a hardwood installer that truly knows how to do an install and finish that you would be proud of for years to come, call them for an estimate first. New installs, tie in and repairs, geometric patterns and herringbone look stunning and I have been surprised with the finished floors after seeing what they had to start with on several jobs. Modern coating products have changed at a rapid pace for the painting and floor finishing business. Aaron's experience with this changing challenge is going to give you options that a less experienced contractor can't compare with. Rise Above does excellent trim, crown molding and base board installations on their jobs as well. They can perform prefinished floors, tile and stone work . I have high expectations for my customers homes as well as my own, That is why they have worked on my own home on multiple projects. Scott Warner Coast Brushworks Painting and Decorating

Kirk and his team performed an interior remodel and a new garage build for my house from January 2011 to July 2011. I am satisfied with Kirk’s work. He is very experienced in new constructions and remodels. He did a very good job for a very good price. Kirk also gave me lots of free extras at his expense. In March 2010 I purchased a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom house in Union City, California. The house was in good structural condition, but as a foreclosured unit, it needed some rehabilitation. The original detached garage was in poor condition; it was badly damaged by termites and water. My intent was to have the detached garage demolished and completely rebuilt from the ground up. I planned on doing interior renovation at a later time. I found Kirk from craigslist and he had a link to his Thumbtack page. I called him and he came by to give me an estimate. He said he could give me a really good deal on a new garage and do an interior remodel for a little more than what I would have paid for the garage alone. Kirk was really enthusiastic about doing my job, much more so than the other contractors I had come to give me a bid. Kirk also had very good ideas about modernizing the interior. He suggested a bar counter between my kitchen and dining area. He would also turn my empty utility rooms into a master bedroom and master bathroom. And he wanted to create a laundry machine closet. Kirk had an architect draw the construction plans; his architect did a really nice job. He submitted it to the city as part of the permit application process. I wanted the work done with all permits so everything would be by the book. It would also help should I decide to sell the house at a later date. Kirk started out on the interior work first. He demolished the old kitchen and utility room. He built a new kitchen, a master bedroom, a master bathroom, a laundry machine closet, and a small coat closet by the front door. Kirk said he could also do a couple more things to the interior. He would do the labor for cheap if I paid for the materials. So I agreed and Kirk also replaced my front door, front window, and sliding glass door. He also remodeled my fireplace and fixed a bunch of broken things in my original bathroom. Kirk also completely rewired the house. The original wiring was a dangerous mess, a potential fire hazard. The interior work was completed towards the end of April 2011 and all the work was approved by the city inspector. It looked really nice. I received many compliments from friends and family. I am fairly picky with details and I did notice a couple flaws with fit and finish. I pointed out them out to Kirk. He and his workers did fix them. The garage work started immediately afterwards. The old garage was not worth saving so it was demolished and hauled away. The original foundation was unusable. So Kirk jackhammered it out. Kirk poured a new heavy-duty foundation onto an extensive frame of rebar. He tied it into the house foundation. Then he framed the new oversized 510 square foot garage. Kirk added a storage attic with a pull-down ladder. Kirk also poured a new driveway that looked excellent. Kirk added a 50 amp subpanel to the garage. He also gave me a bunch of free extras like wall insulation. Kirk also used roof panels coated with an aluminum heat reflective substance. The garage was completed by the end of July 2011. It looked really nice. Like the interior, I also received compliments from friends and family. The above garage attic storage with the pull-down ladder was really useful. The garage also passed city inspection. There were also a few issues with fit and finish in the garage. Kirk fixed the problems that I pointed out. While the garage was being built, Kirk also repaired my patio awning and side perimeter fence. He did an excellent job on them. One lady even drove by, stopped, and complimented on how nice the outside looks. I am overall satisfied with Kirk’s work. He really transformed my house. Since everything was done with permits, I now have a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house on county and city records. If you want to see his work on my house, ask Kirk to give you my phone number.

Michael painted the front of my 1955 cape cod and porch. He restored the French windows and the siding to like new. Wonderful job of prep. He used an oil based paint that has held up perfectly. It made such a difference. When he was done, he left no mess. No drips on porch floor, all materials cleaned up. He was booked up when I wanted to finish the garage. I did it myself and the quality of my work was noticeably lower. He took the time to come buy free of charge to give me some pointers. This guy is a pro.

We had an epoxy floor project for our kitchen started by a concrete contractor that did not go well. Statewide came in and fixed the floor in inly five days after we'd spent six weeks trying to get it right with the original contractor. Tyler was responsive, thorough, timely, neat and professional. We would use them again in a heartbeat.
