John Linneball helped me with SAT tutoring, especially in the math sections. The sessions took place at my house every week, but if ever there was a problem, communication was made easy through email. He really helped me and we clocked in many hours of math exercises. Not to mention, he gave me suggestions on what I should work on during my alone time.

John Bertinetti helped me study for the GMAT exam over the summer of 2017 with concentrated sessions to review GMAT Quant. John got me started on a study path by sharing info about the best study resources for my problem areas, and would meet with me once or twice a week to go over key Quant problems that I needed help solving. John is an ideal tutor for students who are good at keeping themselves on track without a structured curriculum. Great value, flexible scheduling, and clear explanations of problems are all huge wins with him. About halfway through the summer, I realized that I needed a structured class and more discipline to keep myself on schedule, so I supplemented my study sessions with John with an independent online class with a live teacher. Key lessons w/John: John is all about understanding the concepts behind a problem before sharing tricks; his method is great for learners like me who need to understand the math conceptually and don't want to just memorize formulas. We did a lot of work on combinatorics and probability, which were my challenge areas. He was a great and affordable supplemental resource for me beyond the class. Results: I went from a 580 on my Manhattan GMAT diagnostic to a 730 score on the actual GMAT after 3 months of light study followed by 2 months of intense study.

Amarnath Santhanam tutored my 12-year-old son in two math subjects, Algebra II and Trigonometry. His knowledge and command of material, his art of explaining most difficult subjects clearly and playfully, his ability to inspire a student and make him continuously interested and fascinated in the study -- made his classes an exciting experience for my son who considered Amarnath the teacher he has ever had. We will be delighted to invite Amarnath to tutor other math and science disciplines. He is a top-notch pedagogue.

I posted here that need some help on math since I'm an International new student here in USA, and Lorraine came to me from Oakland to San Jose. My skills on math are good but my first language is Arabic so I was confused on English, also I forgot many things since I always use a calculate on any thing on math. I asked Lorraine to help me on my ELM exam that will be next 2 weeks and I hope that I will do well. Lorraine understood what I need exactly and brought to me some helpful papers and they were really good. When we started I thought that my skills are week and I cant remember many thing, and the exam will be with No calculators so Lorraine started with me from the begging to help me remember everything in easy way that will let me remember it on my test. By this time I'm working on the papers and preparing myself until my test on the next 2 weeks.

If you want to gain a clearer understanding of statistics, Mostly Math Tutoring Services is the place to go! I attend CSU East Bay and have used Mostly Math’s services for several years. I refuse to go anywhere else for help. Not only did I get exceptional help in statistics, but they also provided assistance with the SPSS (statistics) program taught at CSU when no one on campus could. I have tried using onsite (college campus) tutors to no avail. I hold Mostly Math Tutoring Services to the highest standard of excellence in (mathematics and statistics) education.

I thought Ivy Way would just be another generic SAT tutorial class. However, under Sam’s guidance, I not only improved my SAT scores by 250 points (2100 to [2350), I was able to learn material beyond the scope of a generic college entrance exam. Through the lessons, Sam exposed me to various types of literature, including Journalism in Tennessee by Mark Twain and several contemporary era essays. Not only did I improve on the SATs through well designed critical reading and grammar lessons and practice, Sam always prompted me to think deeper and consider other points of view in my analysis. Most of all, I learned how to keep my writing concise. After the SATs, I continue taking lessons from Sam. Instead of teaching me generic writing skills, Sam asked me exactly what I wanted to learn and designed a 1 on 1 writing and philosophy course specifically tailored to my interests. We began with essays by Socrates, and progressed onto works by Plato, and Sam’s in depth knowledge about the subject and meticulous notes enabled me to greatly broaden my thinking about the world and enhance my writing skills in an interesting way. Sam goes beyond what regular educators and teachers would do, and tirelessly pushes his students to think harder and deeper. As a student under Sam for the past 1.5 years, I would recommend him as a teacher and mentor to anyone wishing to improve their reading, writing, and thinking abilities.

It is a super helpful app for who is practicing SAT. With their new tutoring session, it gets even more useful. My experience with tutoring session was great. The tutor had known my skills before I started my class. So we used the lesson time efficiently; we went through my mistakes and did more exercises together. They chose the tutors very well for who want to improve on their SAT score. I strongly recommend who considers a tutoring session!

Bryce is an excellent GRE tutor. When I first started studying for the test, I was overwhelmed, confused and frustrated by just opening my practice book. I hadn't taken a math or English course in years. Bryce helped ease those fears and boosted my confidence. After the initial meeting, I knew that he would be a great tutor for me. I continued seeing Bryce for tutoring in the weeks before my test. We practiced strategies and how to approach a difficult problem. Knowing the strategies for the GRE is extremely helpful. You can memorize ten thousand vocabulary words (as I attempted), but until you know how to approach the problem, hammering in definitions won't be much help. Bryce taught me the strategies necessary and had confidence in me all the way. He is intelligent, reliable, and benevolent (great GRE word!). I would absolutely recommend Bryce to anyone looking for a tutor, especially with the GRE. It can be a daunting test, but given the help I received from Bryce, I went in on test day feeling confident that I could pass (and I did!).

I am happy to write a review for Dale, as my daughter and I have had a wonderful first meeting and lesson. Dale immediately made my daughter comfortable in her academic abilities and encouraged her to believe she can reach her goals. My daughter is starting her preparations to take the SAT's , and has an ambition to attend a top tier college. Dale set out a plan that includes both lessons and homework that if followed should get her the results. I am confident in Dales abilities and his professionalism and have hired on an ongoing basis. Sylvia is tutoring my daughters in Spanish. They never had Spanish before, and when they moved to a new school, the level of Spanish is very advance for someone who never had the lessons. Sylvia works with them in getting them up to speed. In a short time, both my children had become comfortable in following the lesson at school, and I have noticed that both of them have made quite significant improvements. My oldest daughter tells me that once she is comfortable with her Spanish, she wants to start French with Sylvia. I am sure that if either of my kids need tutoring in Math, Sylvia would be the one we go to. If your child or children need extra help in academic, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you call Sylvia. My children are very happy with how she teaches. Sylvia is also opens to different approaches in teaching. If my kids want more challenge, all they have to do is tell Sylvia and she will give them challenging lessons.

Dylan has been a great tutor and has gone the extra mile to develop new innovative techniques/language to help our son blossom. Specifically he has helped overcome challenges with math, word problems, handwriting and multi-step problems. Dylan also communicates regularly with our son's school teacher which is invaluable. Finally as a family with two working parents who travel a great deal he is totally reliable, a great communicator and flexible.

Darya tutored and advised me throughout my senior year of high school and my first year at college. Having Darya by my side throughout the stress of a year and a half journey has had a significant impact in my life. Although Darya's main responsibility was to tutor me for my Advanced Placement (AP) Literature class, she went above and beyond to what I expected of an English tutor. She helped me find my inner voice as a writer through tutoring me about grammar, organization, and vocabulary. She also helped boost my confidence as an underprivileged Latina studying in the STEM field as a computer science major at the University of California: Santa Cruz. I passed both my AP Government and AP Literature classes and tests which is significant because both required a heavy amount of analytical writing; I graduated high school with honors and with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA), 3.7, at any time of my academic career. One week before I was going to take my SAT for the third time, I mentioned to Darya that I was struggling understanding a large portion of the Math section of the test. To my surprise, she was thoroughly capable skilled in tutoring me in math, along with English. In less than seven days, Darya was able to successfully prepare me for my last SAT test; subsequently, my SAT score improved by more than 100 points. If we had more time to go through the preparation book, I could have further surpassed this amazing progress. Another aspect in which Darya supported me in my college application and preparation process was in guiding me to refine my college essays for both private and public universities: as a result, I was accepted to more than half of the colleges that I applied to. Finally, I am most grateful for Darya and her efforts towards my success because of the high number of scholarships that I received in the second semester of my senior year in high school. Through Darya’s excellent editing and writing abilities, I was able to accumulate more than $200,000 in scholarship rewards from four different organizations. I could never have imagined this much triumph before meeting Darya; without these scholarship awards, I would have been forced to work during my breaks and during school to afford a college education. Now, all that I have to worry about is learning as much as I can while I am at UCSC. On account of my strong achievements in less than a year with Darya, I still utilize the many tips and lessons that she has instilled in me. As a result of this, I excelled in my classes at UCSC with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. Because of my outstanding academic success in the first quarter of college, I was exclusively invited by the university to apply to the College Scholars Program; this two-year program selects 20 students out of about 200 students applying from each college at UCSC to help give them meaningful academic challenges. Not only do I recognize Darya as one of the most significant people in my life because of my solid academic accomplishments, but also due to the genuine passion she holds to be sure that her tutees succeed. As her tutee, she constantly reminded me of my own abilities to encourage my confidence. We are still in contact today which further demonstrates her enthusiasm for her tutees. She is evidently benevolent, motivated, and intelligent, and I highly recommend her tutoring and guidance talents to any student who is fortunate enough to be her tutee.

Mr. Chen is a very genuine teacher. He teaches in a way that the student can understand properly and gives many examples. If the student does not understand a certain concept, he will make sure that the student fully understands it even if it means going over the session time limit. In terms of punctuality, he is always on time. Most of the the arrives early to the meeting point and chooses to wait until it's time to start the class. Overall, even though English is not his 1st language, he makes up for it by giving extra supplements that help explain things. Even with that included, he truly deserves a 9.5/10.

Dan is a great math tutor. He is patient and knowledgeable. He leads you to the solution but does not tell you the solution. He makes you figure it out by encouraging your own abilities to problem solve. I received tutoring for the CSET Math test and I was very impressed with Dan.
