FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My typical fee is $60/hr for elementary and middle school level math. I sometimes create custom assignments for a student after a session. If this is something you'd like me to do for your student, I will charge an extra fee for that. For high school math and higher, I charge $75/hr for the session. Typically, a session can include reviewing of concepts, supporting with homework, and providing enrichment. My typical fee for test prep is $75/hr. I am currently offering a 20% off discount to my first-time students.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I would request to speak on the phone ahead of time with the student or parent to get a sense of the material that needs to be reviewed or covered. I am open to working with students who need help with concepts and also students who would like to be challenged in math outside of the classroom. If I speak with you ahead of time, it helps me be prepared and provide you with the most appropriate session for you. This helps me prepare for any special learning needs the student may have as well.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a math teacher and tutor based in the Bay Area, CA. With my years of experience, I know the concepts that trouble most students. I have figured out different ways to explain them because it has been necessary to explain things differently to different students. Over the years, I have accumulated various resources to incorporate into the lessons. I also try to make math fun by using puzzles and brain teasers to reflect recent concepts we have covered in class. Although I have worked with students between 4th grade and 12th grade, I find working with students on foundational skills (4th through 6th grades) and introductory algebra (6th and 8th grades) especially rewarding because it gives them confidence in math as they get older, setting them up for success.
