Paul's Bass Lessons
About this pro
Awesome lesson with Paul. He was patient with me and really established how he is going to teach and was open about his style and also working to get your own unique style and not just imitating him. Excited to be playing again and having Paul as a teacher to work with.Apr 11, 2018Verified

Paul Martin Sounder is one of the most chill and yet hardworking musicians I know. He is personable, kind and a totally fierce bassist. I absolutely love playing with him -- he is an incredible, surprising improviser and can also execute challenging, complex compositions with ease and precision. As a teacher he is patient and fun, but won't let you off easy. He combines technique and soul, diligence and heart -- I am lucky to have him as a teacher, collaborator and friendMar 19, 2015

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $50 per hour lesson at my home. If you'd like me to come to you I charge $2 a mile (the distance from my house to yours) on top of my hourly rate. Rates are negotiable.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I'm always learning something about music and the bass. I am currently working through the Simandl classical method book on the upright bass to build a stronger foundation for my playing.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was called to the bass guitar when a band popped up in my neighborhood. My dad is a drummer and encouraged me to go for it and taught me a lot about the bassist/ drummer connection.
