Delia was so thoughtful and kind to my newly blind dog, going above and beyond to make sure he felt safe and comfortable while he stayed at her house. He loved the exercise and company and good love he received while in her care. She has an excellent instinct with animals and clearly knows her stuff!

Delia was wonderful. She helped me out in a pinch and walked my dog when I has surgery. She is extremely knowledgeable about dog behavior and was so nice and kind to my dog Jack when meeting him. I was a little nervous having them go for the first time for a walk with a stranger, and he was a bit nervous too! But he warmed up to her immediately and had a wonderful time. I feel like I can truly trust her to be good to my dog and be able to cope with any emergencies that may arise. Delia is just very personable and her attitude towards animals is apparent and I know I can trust her.

Delia was an amazing caretaker for our two dogs. We had Delia watch our two large dogs for about a week, and they thrived in her care. One of our dogs is a rescue and has some serious fear/anxiety issues, but was immediately comfortable when introduced to Delia, and came home less fearful than when she left. Delia had great communication throughout, and gave us updates on how the dogs were doing while we were away. I cannot recommend Delia highly enough to care for your dogs. Thanks, Delia!

Delia is the most responsible, considerate and kind dog care and dog walker we have ever met. Equally important, she is an excellent dog trainer and can help improve your pet's behavior. We have left our dog, Brilli, with her numerous times (when we have to travel for work or vacation where dogs aren't allowed or are difficult to travel with). We always return to find a joyful, happy and healthy Brilli. We give Delia our highest recommendation (as does Brilli!) for her responsiveness, kindness and connection with animals.

Delia is Doc's fairy godmother. Although a fairly well-behaved, hike-loving dork, he has always preferred his couch to professional dog walkers until Delia came along to take him on 3x/week excursions. He is ecstatic every time she shows up and in addition to being much happier, she has worked to make him a much more socialized (and quieter!) canine and has thoughtful recommendations to deal with his hip dysplasia. I have been wholly impressed with her dedication, capability, and affection towards my loud and messy companion. She is absolutely dependable and has an innate understanding of animals. I trust her without reservation with my eccentric dog. Now I only wish he liked me as much as he does her!

Delia cares for my 13-year-old Akita with confidence and tenderness and infinite patience. Neighbors and other caregivers who work with my dog have commented on how gentle and attuned Delia is when interacting with my sweet but stubborn and poky old guy. She is extremely thoughtful about all aspects of his welfare, brings him special treats, gives him massages, and carefully considers his emotions and physical condition at all times. I am very particular about the people he spends time with, and I always feel confident that he is in good hands with Delia.

A few months ago I began looking for a dog walker for my troubled and fearful dog . I wanted someone who would not only walk my dog, but also incorporate the training that I received from my veterinary behaviorist. Delia turned out to be the perfect combination of part dog walker and part dog therapist. She connects with my dog in a way that no one else can. Delia has a lifelong knowledge and intuition of dogs that has been so helpful in the process of my dog accepting her. Delia’s patience is extraordinary; she will wait until the dog understands what is expected. Additionally, Delia is extremely reliable and trustworthy; I know my dog is in good hands when she is with Delia. She will never put my dog in harm’s way. Because my dog is unpredictable, Delia practices avoidance around other dogs and certain people at all times, so there are never ugly confrontations. In summary, Delia is a fantastic dog walker extraordinary!

My wife and I travel frequently and are faced with the problem of burdening our family, friends or neighbors with caring for our 2 cats while we’re away. In advance of our travels last month, we decided to contact Oakland Pet Care instead to see if they could help. Problem solved! Delia and her colleague Pam were great. They came over and met the cats before we left, bonded with them, came every day to feed, clean up, and play with the cats, and sent us photos and videos of what were obviously two pretty happy cats. When we got home, I got the distinct feeling the cats were going to miss Delia and Pam. These are two mature, nice and responsible people who took good care of things and retrieved our mail daily. We will be delighted to entrust our cats (and our house) to them during future travels. And their rates are reasonable.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am enrolled in an advanced dog walking class focusing on canine behavior, training and remedial work with on leash aggression. Spotting potential problems and intervening prevents dogs from getting traumatized by other dogs. Everyone wants to walk the easy dogs! Focusing on helping folks who have adopted shelter dogs with questionable history and helping their pets to be the dogs they were meant to be is exciting and rewarding for all involved!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
To work at something you love is to never work a day in your life. My passion has always been around kindness and generosity of spirit whether it be people or animals. I wanted to embark on another career that centered on my interests, my strengths and something that emotionally gave back as well. People who open their hearts and homes to animals are pretty special and that's where I want my energy to go, towards kindness and caring.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We walk dogs singly or in small packs, in neighborhoods, the hills, trails and beaches. We care for small animals, cats, rodents from drop in visits to feed and clean up and play, to administering insulin shots.
