I always wanted to take singing lessons but never had the opportunity and courage. Mindy made everything easy. She is patient, competent and always greeting you with a smile. That's why I decided to take piano lessons as well ;)
I've been taking guitar and singing lessons with David for a few months, and I've got to say I've had a really great time learning from him! David is an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable teacher who clearly cares about his students and their goals, and better still has played and performed with the artists that I like best. It took me a while to find a teacher who was willing to teach me the music I wanted to play instead of starting with their core competence, so it was really refreshing that within a month or two with plenty of practice I was able to learn one of my favorite songs (Three Rounds and a Sound by Blind Pilot, if you're curious), and a little longer to start singing it, which I was really stoked about. He has been great about breaking things down when the piece we're working on is too challenging. David has also pushed me to pursue my goal of creating music, helping along the way to create melodies and lyrics. I have to say, it takes a great teacher to get me to sing and to share lyrics with them (do you know how embarrassing that can be?). I could go on, but suffice it to say, David is a great teacher, and I'm really glad I started taking lessons with him.
Sarah is amazing! I had only had about 4 lessons with Sarah when my friends wanted to go out for karaoke. None of my friends knew I was taking singing lessons and they were surprised. I got so many compliments! I was so happy that even just after a few lessons, I could already take away tools that Sarah taught me and put them into action! I was very lucky to find her. I had searched for awhile for a vocal coach and they were either too expensive, really far or in group setting (which I was too nervous to do being a beginner). I very much enjoy my one-on-one lessons with her. She's so sweet and makes you feel so welcomed and keeps you in good spirits about training your voice! I will definitely be continuing my lessons with her! Thank you Sarah!! :)
Donna helped me to be a better music teacher. As a teacher, I took lessons and often refer to the wonderful notebook Donna put together for me, with tons of ideas and thoughts about music in general. Donna can help musicians, and beginners, to really understand the elements of music, and suggest how to make music your career, or just enjoy music as part of your life skills.
Been singing for many years and surprised to still be learning so much. Juan is quite professional and disciplined. He identifies where you need work and starts with fundamentals. You can't fake it with him; he'll know! I recommend going into it with a clear goal and he'll design a program for you.
I found out about Anna when I saw a promotional video of her online which my friend had posted. In the video I was impressed by the high number of students she had from all over the world of differing ages and singing levels, from beginners to some of Beijing's finest expat live musicians. Right away I noticed the joy which every student seemed to radiate while being taught by Anna and they all had wonderful things to say. Me being a singer myself and always wanting to better my voice decided to give Anna a try. I got into contact with her first by phone and immediately felt her open, warm, friendly vibe and I knew then that I was going to like her very much. And when I met her in real life, that was confirmed to me even more. I had my first class with Anna and by the end of it I was questioning myself as to whether what I achieved really happened. All my years as a singer, I've had difficulty in singing in a quiet , smooth 'mixed head voice' and by the end of the class I was doing it. She had me belting high notes which I thought no longer existed in me. Anna with her fine experience was able to immediately pin point what I was not doing right, correct it and further teach me better and great techniques that I needed to achieve my vocal goals: all with a very encouraging and motivating spirit. I continued classes with her and was so honored when she chose me to be one of her back up singers for her band. Anna herself is not just a great music teacher but an amazing singer too. There is so much I can say but to not make this review into a novel, I'll end here by saying, Thank You Anna so much for believing in me and my voice when I stopped believing in myself and for helping to reignite my passion for singing. <3 Choose Anna as your vocal coach and see for yourself all the great things I have mentioned. :)
I can't say enough about my experience with Ken. He is very intuitive. His lessons are balence between exercises and therory. I have alway found myself mentally stimulated, with plenty of work for my fingers. He is very energetic and reaches out between lessons to give you more music to play with. His warm and friendly personality make the lessons fly by. He also willing to work through tought topics without cutting the lesson short (schedule permitting ). I really appreciate his effort into his students. He has also been pretty flexible with my shedule. As an adult these are not the piano lessons I hated as a child. Lol
I have really enjoyed working with Liz this past year. The techniques that she teaches not only elevate your singing skills, but also improve overall vocal quality and performance. Liz is great about addressing all aspects of the vocal experience, and still making it fun to learn and improve!
Our 13 year old daughter has absolutely loved her singing lessons with Liz over the past year! Liz is consistently bright and positive while advancing our daughter's singing abilities on many levels. We also enjoyed seeing Liz perform in a bilingual musical play for children. We attended with parents, and kids from ages 7 to 17, and we all loved the experience and Liz's impressive singing and acting. Great job, Liz!
Marla is a wonderful teacher. I was looking for someone who specializes in classical vocal training and she was perfect. I've had 4 lessons so far and am learning a lot about the mechanics of proper diaphragm usage, placements in order to produce the ideal sound. One thing to remember about learning any instrument (and yes, your voice is an instrument!) is that you won't master it overnight or even over the course of a couple of months. It takes time, practice, and perseverance. So far Marla has been an excellent teacher and I look forward to continue working with her.
I can't say enough good things about working with Patricia. She is always on time, always professional, incredibly knowledegeable, and always ready for our lessons. I have grown tremendously since I started working with her! I've actually started taking both voice and piano lessons from her because she is that good. She is classically trained and knows her stuff so well and can explain it so well that even a 5 year old could understand it.
Emily was superbly welcoming and nice. She was very understanding of how nervous my daughter felt when she started, and how self conscious my daughter was about her singing. Emily encouraged her and brought up her confidence by a lot. My daughter loves going to the lessons and enjoys singing a lot nowadays. I would recommend Emily to people of all ages and ability.
I'm a beginner to guitar, having played a little piano and drums before. Been working with Chris for a few weeks now and it has been a blast. He's a talented musician who is connected to the music scene. I wanted a guitar teacher who was connected to the local music scene, and so I've really enjoyed working with Chris and even going to see his band perform. I also love how Chris walks through songs and is able to write out the tabs and chords on the fly, and then on top of that show me multiple ways of playing the same song. Highly recommend.
Great singing lessons! Margaret obviously knows what she is doing and helped me improve my singing skills that I use for musical theater. She is also friendly and made the lessons fun. I can't recommend Margaret highly enough!
Anna provided a tremendous singing lesson for my wife and I! Thanks Anna!
Jonathan is so great! Lessons are fun and productive - he brings lots of insight and experience and I improved very much.
Natalie has been fantastic to work with! Her instruction through exercises, general tips/suggestions, and specific ideas when working on a particular song has all been stellar and on point throughout my work with her. I feel like I have improved dramatically over the course of our lessons, and my band members have made several comments about my improvement as well. She has an uncanny knack for knowing what I am doing with my breath, diaphragm, throat, mouth, etc., and being able to suggest just the right adjustments to make things sound better and more comfortable to sing. Natalie is a wonderful person, too, very encouraging, supportive, and respectful. I highly, highly recommend her!!
I couldn't have asked for a better teacher, even as a low-baritone male in my 20's that has never taken singing lessons before. The voice training is universal and spans all genres, so don't worry. VERY enjoyable to learn from and I improved every single week because I was challenged every week (which is what you need!). I still practice the lessons & tips Cecilia has given to me and always will. You want a highly skilled who will tell you the truth when training, but who has the empathy to make the process a fun one. I can't recommend Cecilia enough!
Mike is one of the best drummers I've ever played with. Great feel, and he's also an excellent vocalist who can sing lead or backgrounds while drumming flawlessly.
I've been taking singing lessons with Cherie for about a year. I've always wanted to perform at open mics and maybe start a band but I knew I had some work to do before feeling confident. So I started singing lessons with Cherie to help prepare me for performance but we also spent a lot of time growing my voice. I realized I had a much bigger range than I'd thought. BTW - I'm also a beginner guitarist and we sometimes have guitar lessons too. She's a great guitarist and singer. So I really feel like she's the best out there for that type of work. If you want to not only work on your voice but learn how to perform and have a fun time in general - I'd book Cherie for lessons. She's a pro :-)

I am an experienced pianist, accompanist, and vocal coach; currently semi-retired at 60 years young. I studied classical singing at a voice studio where I also accompanied other singing students for many years. Throughout much of that time, I have taught Piano and Voice privately in several different cities in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. My conservatory training has enabled me to provide my singing students with a study classical foundation; and my experience as a musical theater accompanist and a lounge pianist has empowered me to teach pop-contemporary styles of singing to interested students. Although I enjoy teaching piano as well as tutoring students in music theory and composition (my emphasis at the conservatory), my strength lies in training of singers. My singing students develop their potential in the styles of their choosing -- and receive quality piano accompaniment in the process. References are available upon request.
