My experience with Albert was perfect. Quick, efficient, friendly, competent . I will recommend him and will use his video talents again.!! Wonderful attitude, great personality! As a musician I find a lot of ego out there, Albert was a pleasure. Made me feel comfortable to do my music thing!!!
Clifford Lamb is a knowledgeable and talented piano teacher. He is a very patient and knows how to communicate musical concepts to both adults like me and to my teenage sons -- we're all intermediate players. Clifford's teaching methods incorporate a nice balance of music theory and practical technique. Clifford is a working musician and wants his students to learn theory so they begin to "think" like musicians so they can play in any key and not be slaves to a particular arrangement in a particular key. Highly recommended for both adults and teenagers.
Kelly played for my mom's memorial, including accompanying a vocalist. He made extra time for a rehearsal, was punctual, helpful, and friendly. All that and a fantastic pianist able to play anything. I give him my highest recommendation!
I had the opportunity to have this awesome band play at my house party! They were really talented and played a really good mix of jazz and latin which was perfect for our guests. You won't be sorry if you hire this band:)
Ilana is my go-to violinist. A brilliant musician who is a joy to work with. She gives 1000% always. Suellen Primost, Manager of The Espiritu Ensembles
The best music teacher I've ever had!! Very professional and fun. Always keeping it positive. Very easy going and flexible with our schedule. His knowledge is very extensive and he became a friend to the whole family. An amazing musician himself he has so much to offer his students and the music community.
I have had the pleasure of working with Astrik as my piano instructor and coach. I played the piano for a long time before starting graduate school. After my practice had lapsed for more than a decade, I decided to get back, regain and refine my technique, and improve certain things that weren't as good as I wanted them to be. Astrik patiently works with me and recommends pieces and exercises that would help me improve my technique. I admire Astrik's open minded approach to music making as she is eager to hear my opinion and interpretation of the music I am working on. Then, together we try different approaches, discuss them, and decide how to move forward. This way, music evolves from one session to the other, it matures, and it becomes a refined and meaningful piece of work in the end. She is a knowledgeable musician, an avid pianist, a patient teacher, and a courteous and wonderful person.
I had an excellent experience with Marla. I was nervous about an upcoming solo performance and hadn't sung publically in awhile. Marla quickly measured my ability and where I needed assistance and gave straight forward and incredibly helpful training and guidance. She certainly knows her stuff and is direct but friendly. I would highly recommend Marla for any voice lesson needs. Thanks Marla!
My tango band Trio Garufa recorded our 2012 album at Granada Studios under the supervision of Stevan Pasero. We had an excellent experience and were delighted with the quality of the results. Many factors make Granada Studios an outstanding recording facility: First, the studio equipment, room design and acoustics are top notch. It's also a very nicely-decorated space, which makes you feel comfortable and relaxed during your long recording sessions. Second, Stevan Pasero strives for nothing short of excellence: he is extremely knowledgeable, detail-oriented and uncompromising when it comes to recording quality. He spent several hours optimizing the mic placement for each of our instruments (double bass, bandoneon and guitar), and was on top of every single technical detail, allowing us to fully concentrate on the music. It does make a big difference when your recording engineer is a very experienced performing and recording musician himself: Stevan gave us very valuable feedback on our music and was extremely supportive when we had to work long ours to finish our album. He even spent an entire night working with us when we had to deliver the master mixes the next morning. Lastly, Stevan's wide knowledge of the music industry can also be of great value to those who need advice in that area. In summary, I highly recommend Granada Studios to any musician looking for top-notch professional recording quality.
I hired the 4-piece Grove Doctors’ spin-off for my husband’s retirement party; one female singer, two guitarists, and a drummer. They rocked the place!! Every one of our guests commented on how good they sounded, and the band was what made the party such a success! I’d hire them back in a heartbeat!!
Seth is exactly what I was looking for. My boys love music and have learned a tremendous amount from Seth, ranging from taking a guitar solo at a live gig to taking the microphone and singing with gusto. My 8 year old takes private drum lessons for less than a year, and we are impressed by how many beats he now knows. It is clear that Seth loves what he does. He is skilled at relating to children and getting them excited to play music. He is fun and light and that carries over I'm his teaching style. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend him.
Karin Swanson is a specially intelligent, energetic individual and gifted musician. She excels as a pianist and is an exceptional composer with a passion to teach others. As a former student of mine in the very difficult Comprehensive Musicianship class (musicianship integrated with theory) at San Jose State University, she was among the very top of her class. And her private composition lessons with me demonstrated her superb creative intuition and command of craft. Without reservation I recommended her very highly as a piano and composition instructor. Brent Heisinger, DMA (Stanford University) Emeritus Professor of Music (San Jose State University) San Jose State University President's Scholar, 1988-89
Chris is a really good musician and teacher. Some musicians are so good they forget what it's like to 'not know'. Chris can be with you, where you're at even though he is a highly skilled player. His patience is very encouraging. It's inspiring to take lessons with him and to remember we all NEED music!
Laura was amazing. An great musician with a beautiful voice. A true professional. Would hire her again in a heart beat and would recommend highly!
I recommend ModernTone Studios to anyone who is looking to further their musical journey or begin one! The teachers there are so passionate about helping their students get to where they want to be with music. I’ve been taking lessons with Jacob for 1.5 years now, once a week. My progress since I started taking lessons has been lightning speeds faster than if I were to continue learning on my own. Jacob is very patient, knowledgeable about music theory and all kinds of music, and has an amazing knack for teaching. He makes the lessons fun and never wastes a moment of my time. He pays attention to details and explains things in a way that’s easy to understand. Most importantly, I feel that he has helped me gain much more confidence in myself as a musician. My passion for playing music has grown immensely since taking lessons and I’m really looking forward to recording and producing my songs at ModernTone Studios! And in addition to the great teachers, the studio also has a very relaxed professional *modern* atmosphere. Good vibes all around! I am so grateful to have stumbled upon this Bay Area gem!
We’re been big fans of Paula for years! And, having attended as many concerts and shows as we could, she was our choice to sing at our wedding July 7, 2018 She is easy to work with, her players are phenomenal, and the show she puts on is second to none. We love the classics- jazz, blues, soul, R&B, even FUNK! And it is amazing that Paula can deliver this with only 3 musicians and herself. It’s a small ensemble that really packs a wallop. Everyone was dancing, even my grandmother! Yet, the dinner music was the perfect level for conversation. Her voice is second to none, it’s like having Etta James sing at your wedding. Her musicians are the same guys we’ve seen on stage with Greg Allman, Van Morrison and Boz Scaggs. (Amazing we had them at our wedding!). Paula learned a special song “ I believe in you and me” for our ceremony and Whitney herself could not have sung it any better. Paula even acted as emcee to make sure the scheduled events flowed smoothly from the cake cutting to toasts, the garter toss and first dance. She took the stress of knowing we had a great band to set the tone of our wedding off my shoulders. I highly recommend her!
I knew from hearing Martin perform many times that he is a tremendously gifted, knowledgeable, and accomplished musician. But studying with him is a special joy because he strives to make all aspects of his "total musicianship" available to his students. With his guidance, I am delving into the repertoire with new understanding of each composer's style and intention, techniques and tools, and with more feeling and excitement about being at the piano.
Jan's guitar was the perfect background to our evening. His style makes it easy to socialize without having to compete with the music. His easy jazz was so nice to listen to. At one point we asked him to turn up the volume a little because once inside our venue, he played softly and we wanted to hear the beautiful music.
Marc is an exceptionally talented musician. I have worked with Marc for a few years now, and I cannot begin to describe this man's talent and passion. He is always practicing and his stage presence is very engaging. If I am ever in the market for a solid performer, with a skill set such as his own, you can rest assured that I will be knocking on his door.
I had the pleasure of working with Bruno as his accompanist for his final graduate recital. He was always punctual for rehearsals and very knowledgeable in guiding me through the repertoire with him. As a soloist or collaborator, he is an excellent and well-rounded musician.
I don't really use music for business. I will, however, start it if I get hired. If I get hired, I'm kind of a beginner.
