Sergey was very flexible about his service and came on pretty short notice to help with lighting. Very responsive and helpful!
I would highly recommend Mr. Solis for any type of electrical or handyman services at your home or business. He is very skilled, responsive, dependable and trustworthy. We were very happy with the new recessed lighting he installed in our bathroom and painting as well! Alex
We hired Ricardo to install a new vanity at our Retail shop on Union Street in SF - ATYS. He was very accommodating with our ever changing remodle schedule and once on site to do the install was fast efficient and professional! He'll be back soon to do more work!
Stellar work by German and his team - they helped add some recess lighting to our main room upstairs and also ran tv and cable and Ethernet throughout the house - will definitely hire again.
Starting with a free estimate, Ali and his team transformed our house with recessed lights at an affordable price. He also replaced the exhaust fans and few other electrical stuff inside the house. They started early at 7 am and worked till 10 pm until they finished the work. Extremely professional and efficient. We would highly recommend him. I am already planning on having them come back to work on the exterior lighting (fountain lights), etc as well. Very pleased and happy with their work. He is booked well in advance so call him as soon as possible if you'd like to hire him. :) Thanks Ali -- you are awesome!!
Doing something like attaching permanent fixtures to your property is always stressful. You never know who you're going to get when sourcing contractor help from the internet and everybody faces the fear of having shoddy work done. Luckily, working with Christopher at Virtual AV was a painless and smooth experience in which we got exactly the results we were looking for. Christopher was responsive from the beginning and was willing to work with us on what we wanted to get done. He arrived on time, was friendly, and did a very professional job mounting our three tvs. Would absolutely hire him again!
Lions Gate installed 4 sconces, 4 cup lights in the ceiling, and new track lighting. The electricians were great at problem-solving and working with electric we had in walls. Work was done quickly and perfectly and the clean-up was appreciated. We are very pleased with the work and would recommend Lions Gate and use them again.
I was very glad that I found Milko Young. I am a landlord from Texas and I came to Berkeley to help with my daughter's move-in to a small house. I appreciated someone like Milko who is professional, honest, and easy to work with. He was great and is a true painter and handyman. His work included painting, fixing cracks in the ceiling/walls, installing various household items (ceiling fans, light fixtures), and staining the patio deck. He is also very thorough, he made sure fixtures like the smoke alarms were in working condition. I'm very picky about people who work for me and Milko went beyond my expectations. We are definitely planning to continue to have Milko do more work for us (landscaping & general handyman) in the weeks to follow. Thanks Milko!
Pros: Jasper was prompt in responding, punctual, friendly, and completed the work quickly. I was impressed that he finished this project in one day; whereas other contractors seemed to indicate it was more work and more difficult. I would hire him again. Some areas he can improve: There were a couple of minor areas that were knicked on our kitchen island that I didn't notice until cleaning up. Also, I think he could have done a little better cleaning up the island- wiping down the cabinet fronts that had a light layer of dust (I did this myself). Finally, I gave him a box of stain & top coat that the previous owners left to us. He applied them but I noticed they didn't leave the counter shiny, like the finish we had before he sanded. After Jasper left, my husband realized we were missing the water sealant coat which we had in the garage. So now we are applying this coat ourselves to make the island water- proof and give it the same shine. This isn't totally Jasper's fault since I gave him the supplies but I would have liked if he would have noted that something seemed to be missing or off (or given his recommendations on what he would have stained/sealed it with to make sure the wood stayed water proof.) Overall, I'm happy with the work.
We were remodeling our kitchen and needed someone to install under cabinet lighting with short notice. Bogdan was available the same day we setup the project on Thumbtack. Bogdan was creative in coming up with a solution that concealed both the driver and the wiring. He was also diligent about finishing the project within the time constraint.
I hired Kenny to wire up an outdoor 220V hot tub and install a new regular 110V outdoor outlet. I was very happy with Kenny's work. He was always quick to respond, punctual and also flexible with his schedule. He was able to complete the work on short notice. What I liked best is that he provided me with a detailed work estimate and cost breakdown of all required components. This was different from all other contractors that bid on the job. They just provided an overall price without a detailed breakdown. It was great to know what I'm actually paying for and Kenny's rate was very reasonable on top of that. I would definitely hire Kenny again.
Kevin was fantastic. He really knew a good amount about outdoor lighting to begin with, and was able to recommend various systems and approaches. Once we met in person, he paid a lot of attention to how to make the lighting look good on the front of the house, so a good attention to detail. Once the lighting was installed, instead of just leaving, he had me come out and we tested the motion sensors together, tweaked them, etc. He really cares about doing a good quality job. I also had him install an outdoor outlet, which we did flawlessly as well. Finally, he's just a very nice guy to work with, and very responsive. I would use him again for other projects for sure.
We had Mohamed hang some swag lights, secure cabinets to the wall, hang a full length mirror and a small glass shelving unit, and change a lightbulb that was too high and one that broke and got stuck. He was wonderful. He came early and took his shoes off at the door. He was super clean when he worked. Vacuumed up any dry wall as he was drilling and even used a wet swiffer after to clean the floor where there was debris. Everything looks great! He went above and beyond on the lighting, helping to take the design in my head and make it a reality.
I had a great experience with Davis Electric. The electrician was professional, efficient, and helped me with a complicated lighting installation. I would definitely hire again.
I had a very complicated electrical mess that my previous contractor had left me with. Cameron came in and saved the day. He was very professional and did a thorough job. He worked quickly and efficiently and really knows his stuff.
Michael and his assistant came to install a ceiling fan with lights. The room had nothing in the ceiling. Michael was prompt, in fact he called to see if he could come a bit early. The install went smoothly and I am happy with the work. His price was very reasonable and I plan on bringing him back to change old can lights throughout the house. I highly recommend Michael.
Susi B.- San Rafael My husband and I just moved into a small cottage in San Rafael which backs up to wooded hills and open space. At night, it is pitch black. We needed some exterior lighting for safety and protection. There are all manner of wild animals wandering around the house looking for food and water. Friends won’t visit after 5 p.m. feeling it is like participating in some sort of commando training. Ian Russell came to look at the property and immediately saw how the installation of exterior lighting could not only protect the property, but also beautify it. We were thinking safety, not beautification. He recommended products that absolutely lit all the property, and without any negative impact on our neighbors who are about 300 feet away. And, as Ian had planned, by lighting the big vintage oaks, it added a whole dimension to the property. They’re quite beautiful. We leave the lights on until we go to sleep and then switch on the motion-activated lights to keep the animals away. It was a brilliant design which Ian Russell Designs accomplished in a few days, on budget. They are a very well-coordinated team of professionals, polite, clean and skilled. I highly recommend that you contact them. The lighting has become our “welcome mat” so to speak.
Although the company is an electrical contractor, they have a master carpenter, Richard, who was able to install for us a new entry door having two sidelights. For what I considered to be a very reasonable price, Richard installed the new door, as well as our new Schlage "smart" deadbolt lockset. In the process, he overcame a minor defect in the manufacture of the door so that it would close correctly, and also removed an iron gate installed in the front entry by the previous occupant. The door was installed with precision such that it closes solidly and effortlessly. Most notable is that Richard cares enough to want to do things right. He was patient, efficient, and every bit the gentleman. We are very satisfied with the work he did for us.
Tom and his crew are experienced professionals and customer-service oriented. They are extremely courteous and reliable. The task was to replace an original 100 amp service with a 200 amp service in a single family house built in 1963. What a surprise to learn just how much work would be involved. Three professionals worked all day from around 8am until almost 8pm, and still needed to come back a couple times to finish up some grounding related work to meet inspection regulations. I had four estimates (two of them through Thumbtack) - each with slightly different requirements, but overall the same goal. I needed a bigger panel and had no way to expand to accommodate future projects (that would require 240v). The expenses ranged quite a bit, with one being substantially higher than the other three. Tom's didn't come in at the lowest, but it sounded fair, and cost alone wasn't my determining factor. You will notice Tom is genuinely decent and honest. After the work was completed, I felt like I was charged too little, and happy I didn't go with the lowest bid. It was a substantial amount of work, and I felt somewhat guilty. Some helpful advice: Don't base your decision on Yelp reviews because two of the contractors had excellent Yelp reviews - I'm talking something like 80 5* reviews, and the one with the highest quoted me nearly twice the average of the other three. He used some high-pressure tactic. Additionally, he wanted to run the conduit down the front of the house. The same contractor mentioned he recently upgraded service on the house 3 doors down - last December I believe, and it's not pretty with the pipe running down the front of the house. He explaine that would be the only way it would pass inspection. Especially since Tom was working with another very experienced professional, Fergal, I didn't feel the need to question their decision to place the conduit along the side of the house. The house just passed inspection yesterday, and now I can plan for how to use all those extra slots. I do have plans to hook up my car charger, and down the road to replace the hot tub with one that requires more voltage. Once I'm ready to schedule those project, I don't even need to think about who I will want to help out with the work, and just hope they'll be available!
We got recess lighting done with LF Electric. Luis was very prompt and responsive. We bought the trims ourselves and he helped us along the way. He covered all the furniture while performing the job and cleaned up after it. We would definitely hire him again for our electrical needs.
MJS Electric was first able to trouble shoot our problem, then make recommendations, and then upgrade our electrical system which solved the original problem and will prevent us from having more problems in the future. We have a 100+ year old home which was last updated 27 years ago, so nice to have a professional review everything for us. Needless to say, much was in need of upgrading! We also had stairway lights which we haven't been able to find someone to successfully repair for a number of years. MJS was able to determine the problem and fix our lights so we no longer need to find our way in the dark. Best of all, we asked for some new outdoor plugs for our Christmas lights and backyard use, and the solution they came up with makes us want to put the Christmas lights up on the house now so we can use the new plug and switch!
