Thank you Jessica!
Pennie did a FANTASTIC job on my wedding flowers. She accommodated my budget, helped bring my vision to life, and even beyond. I can't rave enough about her work. I even had my friend hire her for her wedding floral needs.May 29, 2017VerifiedPennie T.'s reply
Thank you Daniela, I am so happy you were pleased with your flowers, I enjoyed designing them for you. And thank you for recommending me to your friend Tori.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? All of my floral bouquets and arrangements are custom made, in addition to that flowers vary in price during the year and season availability. I can create what a client needs with a set budget or I can work up an estimate based on what they tell me they would like. I do not mark up the cost of the flowers to the typical 2-3 times their cost, which is a standard practice. Flowers used in all designs can vary greatly in quantity and initial cost, so it all depends on how many of each flower is needed to accommodate a brides vision within her budget in order to formulate a price. I feel that especially with the economy we have today, I want my service to be affordable and I don't have a minimum order. I can pass on great savings to most customers due to my lower than most floral designers overhead.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First I like to visit with a new customer, preferably in person but can be done in email. I ask to see pictures of examples of what she likes so I can learn her style for floral decor. If she has no pictures we discuss colors, flower types and design styles so that I can put together some ideas to help her form a vision I can capture. After gathering details regarding all floral items needed I create a spreadsheet that helps me calculate the flowers needed for each item she needs. I use these calculations and details gathered previously to create a quote. I then let her know what her quote total is and depending on what my client needs I can make adjustments to the quote. Once the quote is accepted by my customer I create what I call a floral checklist, it puts in text form all details that outline the plans for designing the items needed. I send her a copy to go over to make sure it is all correct and not missing anything. From this checklist I create a contract that spells out every detail of each floral item in the contract. We meet for the signing of the contract and a 20% retainer fee is paid, that is to guarantee my services on their date for the event.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?We do continual research on the latest trends for floral design, take classes when ever there is opportunity to learn something new. If asked to do something we have not done before, we can easily learn how it is done in order to offer that option.
