I hope you are lucky enough to have Chef Marcel produce your event. We had a college graduation party for family and grads, poolside with passed and stationary hors d'ouvres. Marcel and his staff were punctual, professional, courteous, warm and personable without being intrusive. Marcel had worked with us to create exactly the menu we wanted, and by showtime, the food absolutely exceeded our expectations. It is no exaggeration to say we were thrilled. We were impressed with Chef Marcel's responsiveness to our emails and texts; he was willing and able to meet our needs. As we were hosting our party as out-of-towners in a VRBO, logistics were tricky, but Marcel managed everything for us with ease. It is easy to spot competency and experience, and Marcel has both in spades. I can't imagine a better personality to work with or better food. Chef Marcel, thank you thank you thank you! We can't wait to return to LA and have another event with you!
Chef Mike catered our Toastmasters Club's 25th Anniversary Gala. We had 80 guest. Chef Mike was the first caterer to respond to my request for a quote and he continued to be quick to respond throughout the entire process. Chef Mike provided us with a tasting prior to the event and we were sold from the first bite. He and his crew were flexible, professional, kind and efficient. The food was marvelous. We had Tri-tip, Salmon and Chicken for our entrees. All three were superb. So were the side dishes. Chef Mike altered his ingredients to accommodate our gluten free attendees and added special entrees for our vegan enthusiasts. No matter the request, the answer was always "Yes". Chef Mike and his team were a big part of the successful outcome of our event. I highly recommend Gourmet Your Way Catering for any event, large or small! Gourmet Lovers recently catered my son's wedding reception and everything turned out wonderfully! Carolina, Boris and their team took care of everything from start to finish and they didn't leave until the place was spotless. The food was amazing. My son and his bride didn't want "traditional" reception food so Chef Boris put together some of the tastiest tacos, beans, rice and salsa we have ever had, not to mention a fun interactive build your own Nacho Bar for the hors d'oeuvres that all the guests raved about. Not only was Chef Boris' food amazing, Carolina's wedding cake was something special. She worked with us to design just want the bride and groom wanted. The cake was rich in flavor and beautifully decorated. She certainly knows how to bake an amazing cake. I am a fan of Gourmet Lovers Catering and highly recommend them to anyone needing a caterer who not only knows how to put together great food, but knows how to work within your budget. Carolina was always prompt in returning calls and always stayed in touch with us. I plan on using them for all my catering needs in the future.
Jose is very responsive and has great service, along with him being a great chef of course! He traveled to my parents house for us to do a tasting for our wedding and we were blown away. It was amazing. We got so many compliments from our friends and family about how good the food was. With that being said I have a couple nitpicky complaints for constructive feedback: The plates and silverware were not what we had originally discussed at the tasting. They were supposed to be the nice plastic that looked real and we got clear which looked cheesy to us. It could have had to do with the fact that we did the tasting about a year in advance and things could have been forgotten or overlooked but the change was never communicated to us. Also, my husband requested to have a spicy BBQ sauce during our tasting and the BBQ sauce was on the side at that time. We discussed having spicy and mild options. I was very excited for the pulled pork at the wedding but it had spicy BBQ sauce all over it! I thought it was going to be on the side, like it was during the tasting. It was so spicy that I couldn't even eat it. :( One of our aunts was not able to eat any of the meat because it was "too peppery" but that was the only other complaint that we got. Other than that everyone loved it. Everything was great and I would still highly recommend Mr. WorldWide Catering, it just wasn't quite perfect for my event.
My husband and I hired Madkins catering for a family weekend in the desert (La Quinta). We requested a bbq for the first night, and an early Easter dinner for the second night. I expected the meals to be good but not great (I haven’t really had an excellent catering experience). However, the meals were OUTSTANDING. Chef Aviarie is truly talented, and our entire family and guests talked about the interesting flavors and quality of the food. I still can’t get over how Chef Aviarie and Frank prepared everything from scratch in our kitchen in just a few hours! We requested a hefty amount of dishes, and they pulled it off without a sweat! The team is incredibly kind, professional and a pleasure to have cooking in our kitchen. They even managed to entertain our 6 year old nephew while they were cooking. I should also note their rates are very reasonable! I can’t say enough good things about our experience. I am happy to serve as a personal reference in case anyone wants my feedback. Chef Marc is the best!!! He has completely changed my lifestyle. To give some context, I oversee 2 divisions of an entertainment advertising agency and have a very fast pace, very stressful, always working, late hours lifestyle. I lived in NYC for many years before moving to LA and cooking was never my thing. I tend to order out or make simple things. I’m a chubby girl and recently, my doctor put me on a medical cleanse with a very restricted diet. Chef Marc came to the rescue. He was able to accommodate the restrictions and made everything taste amazing!!! I had to go vegan gluten free as well and he made sure I was well fed during that time. He’s opened my eyes to how to eat well and still be satisfied. In the last 2 months of working with Chef Marc I’ve lost 15lbs. I have minimals snacks and all his food is yummy and keeps me satisfied. He has a wide variety of meals that always keep it interesting. I’ve also turned on a couple colleagues in my office to him. We all talk about how great and yummy his food is. I highly recommend working with Chef Marc. He’s super nice and takes good care of his clients. I intend on continuing to work with Chef Marc now that my cleanse is almost over to continue to loose wieght and most importantly, eat healthy! Thank you Chef Marc! Thank you!
Had a great experience with Executive Chef Mark Kearney and Team. To set expectations before the review, I like to consider myself a food lover...not a critic, just a food lover. I love great dining experiences and am equally critical or disappointed when they fall short. My family and I were hosting Christmas Dinner for a total of 10 family members. I found Chef Mark on Thumbtack based on his previous reviews. Roy (part of Mark's team) promptly reached out with thought-starters for the meal and breakout of pricing. Over the next few weeks Roy, Mark and I worked closely crafting the perfect menu for my traditional Christmas dinner, while staying within my budget parameters. To note, Chef Mark is priced higher than some of the other chefs I was in contact with, but I'm glad we went with Mark based on the outcome. The menu consisted of 4 gourmet hors d oeuvres passed around while we opened presents. A fan favorite was the roasted fig with gorgonzola and prosciutto. Then time for dinner. We sat at the dining table and were served Butternut Ravioli as an appetizer, Lobster Bisque soup (a bit on the spicy side - only critique I have with the food all night) and an organic baby butterleaf salad with incredible apricot balsamic vinaigrette. The main course was both a grilled beef tenderloin (prepared to your liking) and pan roasted turkey breast. Sides that accompanied the main course were brocollini, green beans and bacon/garlic mashed potatoes. Everything (except the soup) was beyond 5 stars in terms of presentation, taste and expectations. Lastly we were served two very decadent and delicious deserts - a molten lava cake and traditional bread pudding. Two things to mention. My wife was forced (by her OBGYN) into a new diet two days prior to the Christmas dinner consisting of no dairy and no soy. When Chef Mark arrived we asked him what had dairy and soy ingredients and he quickly and thoughtfully mentioned that he could make my wife's servings without either dairy or soy. Talk about going above and beyond. This was much appreciated and set the tone for the entire dinner! I would potentially ask for two servers for the evening on future events. One to solely serve as sous chef, helping Mark prepare the food in the kitchen and the other server to help set the table, serve food, wine, etc.. throughout the evening. The 5 hours that Mark and Team allocate for the evening can go quickly. This might alleviate that. Either way, a great experience and thank you Mark and Team!
Loved Chef Joseph and his server, and the food was terrific. The only problem was a stubborn oven that held all sorts of "secrets" (ie, when you open the door, the oven turns off ... say WHAT?) that gave the chef some trouble, especially with the Cornish game hens. I hired Sierra Madre Catering for my husband's 40th birthday party held at my home. The set up process was so easy, they were so accommodating with the menu I wanted (even though it included fried foods and philly cheese steak sandwiches which are hard to make on-site). The moment they got to my house, Tonya and her chefs were so professional, speedy, on top of it all! They made my night so much easier and fun and I finally got to enjoy my own party for once! They left my house very neat like my kitchen was never used! They picked up after my guests throughout the night. My favorites were inside-out Philly cheese steak, pulled pork sliders, mac & cheese, potstickers and garlic fries. Thank you and looking forward to seeing you again!
I am very pleased to recommend Chef Travis Pena as a personal chef. I've retained Chef Travis for years to create fabulous dinner parties in the privacy of my home. In our initial interview, Chef Travis asked many specific questions and took notes as we discussed the style of food I would like served. He annotated likes and dislikes. Together we have created several personalized menus. Chef Travis delivers restaurant excellence as he both prepares and serves the meal. Chef Travis is always prepared and well organized with a very positive attitude. Working with Chef Travis each time is pleasant and stress free. Every meal is delicious and precisely prepared. I greatly enjoy leftovers the next day! As a Chef, Travis is professional in every aspect. He cleans efficiently while preparing fine cuisine leaving behind a clean kitchen and delicious food. The only traces of Chef Travis are the lovely aromas and stocked refrigerator. I would highly recommend Chef Travis as a private chef. His service and customer service are exceptional. I am beyond grateful to Thumbtack for connecting me to Chef Keith Prante and his team at Hautè Productions Events and Catering to cater my mom's 80th birthday celebration. They are absolutely A-MAZING! Chef Prante was one of two chefs who responded to my request via Thumbtack, and I also received a personal referral. Neither of the other caterers offered ANYWHERE NEAR the quality, selections, variety and value that Hautè offered at my price point. We had our tasting today, and it absolutely sealed the deal! Everything was delicious and the presentation was outstanding. I highly recommend Hautè Productions to any potential customer who appreciates excellence, accommodation and genuine customer service.
Steven came to our home, to serve my husband and me our anniversary dinner. He brought a beautifully printed out menu explaining the courses. He brought his own dishware which was lovely. From the well displayed appetizers to the meal itself ... we were delighted! The food was five star! And dessert was impressive! A very wonderful experience from beginning to end. On Feb 1, 2018, Chef Amy performed her private chef services at my girlfriend’s birthday party with our teenage daughter. Amy curated a delicious 5-course menu based on our favorites. She prepared the food in new fun beautiful ways. Amy was funny, approachable and professional. She brought all needed cooking and serving ware. She cooked and cleaned up everything. Amy explained and presented every course of the meal and prepared unique never seen before drinks that were a huge hit! The food portions in each course were just right and completely filling. Amy clearly loves cooking and enjoys interacting with clients. Amy was sooo good by evenings end that we were singing to our throw-back music playlist and hugging her goodbye with anticipation of a future event. I definitely plan to hire Amy many more times in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND- 5 STARS
We hired Danesh for a party of 14. She put together a superb event. First, Daneen is a gem of a human being. She is wonderful to work with and makes everything easy. Second, she is an outstanding chef. The meal she prepared for my guests, including hors d'Oeuvres, mains, and desserts, was most delicious. The pairings were great, the tastes both subtle and bold. Third, Daneen has a great eye for making the plate look cookbook perfect. She is wonderful, and I cannot wait for the chance to hire her again.
Carmi provides delicious and nutritious meals for our family of 4, with 2 small kids, including one on the ketogenic diet for seizures. Carmi is responsible and responsive, easy to get a hold of, and goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect. She has become a friend to our family!

Chef Jessie was PHENOMENAL! We hired her for our anniversary dinner at home. Since we have a newborn and a 2yr old we don’t get out much so this was the perfect treat! Jessie jumped right in and even made things special for my 2yr old son! We worked together on the menu and she was very responsive! The food was outstanding and a delicious! We will be using her again! Thanks Jessie!!!
Jeanne is an excellent chef and really listens to her clients. She is punctual, thorough, and her food is amazing. Whether she is cooking for a family or an event everything is fabulous. Her presentation is artistic and spot on. I highly recommend Jeanne. You will not be disappointed. She is exceptional!!!
Jory came to our home to prepare a dinner for 10 guests. Our house staff was delighted by his ability to keep the kitchen clean while preparing for service. Since I run a food service company myself, this alone is laudable and the sign of a true chef. He prepared hor d'oeuvres, appetizers, three entreés, and served the crepe cake we brought in from Lady M Bakery. Afterwards, he offered coffee service while service wound down. The quality of the food was superb on all counts, and many of our guests asked for seconds and still left their plates empty. Mediterranean dishes of fennel branzino, victorian lamb, and gardenherbed lemon chicken were the highlights of the night. During service, our guests were shocked to see the double doors be drawn open and to find a spotless kitchen in between each course. Our guests are very well-to-do in the fashion industry. Jory is young and very well rounded personally—service was socially and culinarily seamless. He was even welcoming when our guests pillaged the leftovers in the kitchen throughout the night. My wife and I will book him to cook parties in the future and you should too.
We hired Unique Luxury Catering to prepare a family dinner for 8 for my wife's birthday on our patio at the Villa we were staying in at Pelican Hill.Chef Brad prepared a spectacular meal and the carrot cake was over the top.The red wine reduction with vanilla bean was a very special treat for everything to be plated in.The cucumber with lobster & quac & apricot / almond appetizers were perfect starters.Great evening ,Great setting ,fabulous meal ! Thanks !
