FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No not really, As far as flowers go, it depends on the market price, which can change every week. The weather has a lot to do with the floral trade, sometimes there is a limited supply on a flower do to weather which makes the price go up. before I quote a price I'm checking the market price for that week, or for the month in which the wedding is. I keep a log on priceing for the year to judge for the Coming months ahead, Now for cakes, yes I have a standard price. for stack cakes 2,3,4,or higher tiers the price is on what Frosting is used. For Buttercream and whip cream cakes the price is 3.25 a slice, that includes any flavor/or flavors and any fillings, for cup cakes it 2.25 each and for a Fondant cake the price starts at 4.00 a slice and up depending on design.Again it includes any flavor/or flavors and any fillings,
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing i want to know is what kind of flowers do they like and want, and of course what colors are we looking for, if the customer is unsure, than I ask to look at our Portfolio (website ) for ideas and design. Once I have that information than I ask about budget, so i know where and how I can make there dream wedding come true.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the trade from 7 years old. As a Child, I had many interest and my Mother always allowed me to per sue my interest. I would work for free to learn. I did my first wedding when i was about 9 years old. I sold door to door items that I learn to make which was a wide field of other projects. I major in school , bookkeeping and accounting and work as a payroll clerk for 25 years and at the same time i continues my education in floral and in the bakery business. later on, I owned 3 bakery's and one of the larges flower shop in the county but all through the years as a payroll clerk I work part time as a baker/decorator and a florist. I continued my education in both fields and would work part time out of my house doing both a side job. An again I would take any new class offered in these fields, I taught cake decorating to the Home School Association school children and I trained floral designers in my shop. I average a minimum of 12 wedding a year, some times up to 16. this is all i do now i have a small warehouse that I work out of and it's only up and running when I'm working on a wedding There is no 7 day/365 days a year running cost associated with my weddings, My coolers are turn on for that job I'm on and when i load up for delivery the coolers are turn off, So i keep my cost down for my clients. That's a major expense for florist with a shop.
