I Hired Vincent Alvarado with VA Roofing to repair about 20 Spanish Roof Tiles that were ruined from falling Palm Tree leaves and after that same palm tree was recently trimmed. Vince was very professional, gave me a detailed estimate. He was hired and was able to do the job right away. He matched the existing tile and completed the job in a half of a day. He cleaned up after the job was done. I was so pleased with his work and would highly recommend him for any roof repair or roof replacing job if asked. Two thumbs Up!

We hired Excel Construction to do a complete kitchen remodeling and enlarge the existing space by expanding the walls several feet to the patio area. The new kitchen included the installation of the upper and lower cabinets, new paint, new backsplash, marble counter top, LED lighting and new dishwasher, stove and range. Eyal, the project manager and Revital (the lady that we worked with in regards to all the documents, payments and permits) from the office who did an outstanding job helping us. During the work, we clearly noticed that they were always made sure that the costs will remain the same and won’t pass the budget that was set at first and they made sure the job was done accurately. All the sub-contractors that they employed for our house (carpenters, electricians, painters etc.) were outstanding, qualified and experienced. We were very fascinated that our project Eyal was able to complete the entire kitchen few days earlier than he promised us. We were always given a personal attention by Eyal, who was very good in communication and organized and by Revital. The new kitchen looks perfect and very useful and we strongly recommend them and we will hire them again for any remodeling project we may have.

Reasonable, efficient and professional! After months of stress and inconvenience dealing with contractors who didn't show up, and others who overbid and exaggerated, it was such a relief to find Angelo. We had to ask them to come back and rebid the job because we forgot about another roof leak the first time. They gladly came back and adjusted (reasonably) to fit the extra work in. We scheduled within days, and yesterday morning they showed up on time. I was prepared for a loud and messy day, but was pleasantly surprised at how quiet and clean they were. They showed me the work after it was completed and everything looked great. They even did a couple extra things not mentioned. I'm so glad I didn't believe I needed to pay thousands to do a fairly simple job (regardless of the scare tactics). All we needed was someone who knew what they were doing. Excellent work. PS, They don't know but I work in Real Estate and agents are always emailing looking for honest roofing contractors (I tried this route before and failed). So I will be confidently referring them in the future!!

We hired Ben to do a big home renovation open up the kitchen, create a master suite, redo a second bathroom, repair 2 cracks in the foundation, repair the sewer line, install a new roof, and HVAC among other things. We were totally blown away by the work performed eagles eye construction. In 10 weeks they transformed the house into a modern masterpiece. The professionalism exhibited by eagles eye construction throughout the whole process was great. When we had issues, they were there to take care of the issue. Perhaps the best attribute of eagles eye construction is that they take pride in their work and want to do the job right. We had new flooring installed in the master bedroom, which did not match the other floors, so they refinished all the floors they all look same. Ben sat down with us and went through the whole contract, line by line. In terms of prices ,they are not inexpensive, but what we got was a top-of-the-line job from expert using quality materials. They were able to anticipate any issues and fix them right away. The price on the contract was the price we pay, no surprise. I highly recommend eagles eye construction remodeling and would use them again if we needed another home remodeling!

Scope - replace hallway floors (due to slight flooding/leak); gut reno one of the bathrooms; customize hallway closet(s). Pros: - Contractor was prompt to respond and quick to commence the job - Joe and his team are very professional - Quality of work is good - It is apparent that State Wide has a Subject Matter Expert for every aspect of the reno (different folks for plumbing, carpentry, tiles, flooring). Most likely 3rd parties but pros nonetheless. - flexible payment structure (also accepts CCs) Cons: - Execution was very slow; perhaps Joe's team was focused on bigger projects (it was mentioned on a few occasions) and it was apparent that our reno was not prioritized. - there were items that should have been spec'd out and ordered as to avoid delays (e.g. floor should have been matched on day1, subway tiles etc..). Numerous days were wasted as the team was waiting on the materials - my biggest frustration with the reno was the lack of empathy and accountability. Excuses/justifications were presented instead of just owning up to the significant delay (work was supposed to be executed in 10-14 days max; it took 30 days). It would have been completely fine if the delay was communicated properly instead of us hounding the team. Overall, we are happy with the renovation.

I had a small leak above my laundry room which was done as an addition. The leak was at the connection point where my shingle roof connected to the flat roof of the addition. While everyone else tried to convince me I had to get my entire roof replaced, Experienced Roofers took care of the problem for a fraction of the cost by repairing the leak! I couldn’t be happier with the service or the savings! Five Stars!

This letter will serve as a highly recommendation for the service that La Roca Builder did for us, on our new home construction. They have a great team that took care of all the guess work of home construction. They made sure we we’re always informed on how the city works with submitting plans and time frame of completion. We interviewed many contractors, but most of them couldn’t take care of the entire project and that’s why we hired them. Our home looks beautiful and we owe it all to Christian and his team from LA Rocca Builders not to mentioned J Balian Construction and Grandeur Construction, 3 teams, each team took care of different aspects of the projects all under one Roof; they all work together amazing! we love that they took care of it all, that made our new home build possible. 5 stars all the way Eddie Steeples Pacific Palisades P.S they wanted me to include that I was the actor that was on the show “My Name is Earl” aka “Crabman” And I gladly said yes, lol. Thanks Christian!

I had a great overall experience in dealing with Solar Connection Construction for my home solar and roof. I previously met with a few solar companies. Following those meetings I was left feeling confused and vulnerable. It did not seem like they were looking out for my best interest. In comparison my meeting with Solar Connection Construction was very pleasant. They explained the solar program, benefits and cost savings in way that I could easily understand. I felt like I was dealing with a family member. When the work started the crew was very professional and I was extremely satisfied with results of the work with my new roof and solar panels. They completed the overall job within the estimated time quoted. They also took time to explain how the system functions and how the solar lowers my overall electricity bill. I HIGHLY recommend using Solar Connection Construction for your next solar or home improvement project. Wayne L

Ernie is our life saver. We couldn't ask for a better job he did at ours and our mother in law houses. We had an old roof that had to be replaced completely. He took care of that with such a professionalism. The job quality and the value are unbeatable! He replaced all the windows at our mother in law house and replaced the whole AC system for her which was maybe 40 years old. She had an asbestos for many years which is dangerous. Now you walk in to her house like to a brand new house. she finally has a good isolation, Clean air, white beautiful windows. We will definately recommend Ernie for any AC and construction work you are looking for to be done at you place. All the job was done on time, professional, responsible and at great price! Now thinking of remodeling our kitchen and bathrooms. Hope he can help us with that. :)

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

          • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

          • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
            • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
          • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
          • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
          • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
          • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
          • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
