Toby was my flute teacher throughout high school, and I credit her for my acceptance into the UCLA School of Music for Flute Performance. She taught me how to be disciplined in my practicing, and how to never give up, even when it got tough. She taught me how to succeed in a musically fast paced environment by teaching me tricks about tuning, and how to learn pieces in a short amount of time. I am eternally grateful for Toby's incredible teaching, and I will use the advice and insight she gave me for the rest of my musical career.

I started taking lessons with Toby about 5 months ago. I had been taking lessons for about a year and a half with another teacher after a 30 year hiatus from seriously playing flute. I have made tremendous progress with Toby. She is patient, yet pushes me to improve in all aspects of my playing. She is also teaching me music theory which none of my other flute teachers taught me. My flute lesson is the highlight of my week.

My thirteen year old daughter has been taking piano lessons from Leigh in her home for about one year. She has been kind and encouraging in her instruction. With her extensive education in music, she is able to teach technique and historical background. She has also been flexible with our schedule changes. We are very happy!

Just what I was looking for in a jazz piano teacher! He listened to my goals and is crafting a teaching strategy to make me a better musician while enjoying the process. Looking forward to more piano lessons in the future. He also teaches saxophone.

Kelly DeSarla Flute

I have basked in the musical brilliance of Kelly DeSarla performing flute on multiple occasions -- on theater stages, in big concert halls, at exclusive private parties, and in churches at weddings. One of my favorites was hearing her play in the orchestra for the enchanting phenomenon called "The Drop That Contained The Sea" by Christopher Tin, with the Angel City Chorale. I have also heard her play lush and complex jazz, traditional Irish folk music, and 1940s standards. In her spare time, Kelly is also the musical director for her own chamber music trio. So not only does she have a Masters degree in Classical Flute, she also has a wide range of experience performing different genres of music. Her performances are both technically proficient and also deeply soulful and expressive. In addition to being an accomplished musician, Kelly is also a gifted actor who has been performing for decades, and she is able to translate the emotional journey of any piece of music into the glorious sound that soars from her flute. If you need a flutist to perform or record for any project, or if you want to take flute lessons, you'd be blessed to hire Kelly.

Heather Klenk has been my daughter's private clarinet teacher for 4 years. She has inspired my daughter to love music and to keep playing and work hard. If not for Heather's commitment, dedication and encouragement, Emily wouldn't be the confident and talented musician she is today. She has made such incredible progress and looks forward to each lesson with Heather. Thanks Heather for being such an amazing teacher!

    About

My goal as a teacher is to personalize and tailor the instruction to meet the student's specific needs. If the student wants to learn how to sing and perform in public, I will focus the lesson time on musicality, flexibility, adaptability and just having fun! After all, enjoying yourself is the MOST important part of experiencing music.

    About

I teach saxophone, flute, clarinet, music theory, and composition and arranging. I like to tailor my lessons to the needs and goals of my students while still giving them a firm base in the fundamentals of whatever they want to study. The main thing is I try and approach my teaching from as many different angles as possible. Not every mind is the same, so teaching means trying to accommodate all different ways of thinking.

    About

Amanda Fuerst has over 10 years of teaching experience and is a local Musikgarten teacher and chamber musician in the Los Angeles Area. She holds a Master's degree in flute performance from Northwestern University where she studied with Walfrid Kujala. Her students range from beginners to advanced high school students and even adult amateurs. All her students are grounded in the fundamentals of flute playing and learn how to practice in addition to understanding how to interpret music. Some of her students have gone on to successfully compete in competition and audition into honors ensembles.

    About

Hello! My name is Celina. I am so excited for what the future has in store for us and I hope that I can help you achieve your goals and aspirations. Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have recently graduated AMDA The College and Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts with a Bachelor's Degree in the Performing Arts. Currently, I am working on a second degree with focuses in Business and Sociology. Lessons will begin with a small look at how each student operates. Everyone learns differently! Lessons will then expand into fun and in depth sessions as I help each student find what exactly it is that intrigues them most. This will be accompanied by ironing out the wrinkles of the more complicated things. Lessons will always end with a laugh and a smile! No matter what it is you decide to tackle, you can learn it. There is absolutely nothing that you can't learn. I'm here to help you! *** Lesson Details *** Flute Lessons: In these lessons, we will begin with a warm up and then a review of what has been learned in the previous lesson or more of the fundamentals that may have not been learned yet. After this segment, we will continue to push forward with correct technique and musicianship. The end of the lesson will be devoted to giving things to work on as well as something fun that will be learned before you are dismissed.
