Our family has worked with One-to-One Tutoring for over three years in providing tutoring for my high-school daughter in mathematics, and for a short period, in chemistry. We have worked with the same math tutor which has proven to be an excellent relationship that has served my child well. The administration services have also been excellent, with prompt and accurate billing. If our tutor needs to be away for vacations or other reasons, we are always offered a substitute so that coverage is not missed. I appreciate the flexibility, accessibility and high caliber of professional people involved in this agency.Feb 7, 2012Verified
We have been working with a math tutor for 5 years (both our daughters) that we found through One-to-One Tutoring. She is fantastic - reliable, flexible and very smart (an MIT grad). Tim Gasser is always extremely responsive to any inquiries and once a match is made, allows us work directly with the tutor which makes scheduling very easy.Feb 7, 2012
Oops, I'm not working with Tim Gasser. My tutor is Roslyn.Apr 7, 2015Verified
Helped our son successfully make it thru a difficult honors math final on very compressed last minute timing.Jan 12, 2015Verified
Great experience. A very professional operation and the tutor was terrific! Belinda Cheng was very well matched for our needs (high school algebra II/trig preparation) and delivered excellent tutoring services. She was patient, knowledgeable, and friendly.Oct 2, 2012Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge by the hour for lessons. The rate may vary depending on the level of the student and the number of hours per week desired. If I have to travel to meet the student, there may be an additional mileage charge added if the meeting place for the lessons is not close to my home.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We discuss what the needs of the student are to improve his academic performance. What are the student's best ways to learn? What are his or her strengths and weaknesses? What sort of schedule of lessons is the client looking for? Where does the client want to have the lessons? I discuss my experience with the course and level that the student is working on. There is no charge for this initial consultation.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My BA was from the University of CA, Berkeley with a major in chemistry and a minor in math. My single subject teaching credential is in math and chemistry. I took a one year course in teacher education at Cal Poly at Pomona to get my original teaching credential. My MS is in Environmental Studies from San Jose State. I have been working in education in one way or another since 1969.
