Marcelo is a wonderful tutor. He uses a combination of guided book learning, conversation, and articles, news, poems and songs to gauge reading and listening comprehension. I speak advanced level Spanish, but lacked an understanding of the structure and had low confidence speaking in public due to never having formal training. Marcelo created a custom program for my level in order to help me identify key problem areas and perfect my pronounciation. He regularly sends homework assignments so that I can continue to practice between lessons and reinforce our discussion. I would highly recommend Marcelo to Spanish speakers of all levels.

Marcelo is a native Spanish speaker, has lived in Pasadena for many years, and was an architect before he retired. He is a very pleasant person, and very easy to talk to. He is very flexible and non-dogmatic in his approach to teaching Spanish, and adapts his teaching style to his students' preferences. In our sessions we work through a Spanish language text book and do reading, writing and speaking exercises. As I have become more proficient, our lessons have focused more on conversation, which I enjoy. Among other things, Marcelo is an interesting person with a wealth of experiences, and conversations with him are always interesting. While not fluent, I have gotten to the point where I feel relatively confident in carrying on a basic conversation.
Marcel is completely reliable...he never misses a scheduled session, and he is extremely punctual.

To begin with, I really enjoy being tutored by Marcelo. One reasons is because I like the fact he uses different methods of teaching to help me improve my Spanish speaking skills; for example, he has used book lessons and anthologies in order to help me strengthen my reading and comprehension skills in addition to audiobooks to help improve my listening skills. Another reason is because I like that Marcelo tries to challenge my skills by having me read/listen to advanced readings/audiobooks which allow me to observe my strengths and weaknesses as a student. Lastly, I really like the fact that he is easy to talk to and that he is a patient teacher who seems to enjoy teaching. Overall, I would definitely recommend his services to others.

I am a pharmacist, I recently started learning Spanish with Mr. Igonda. I needed to learn essential Spanish quickly to serve my patients in a couple of weeks. Mr Igonda responded quickly to my request and customized the class for me. He also made recordings in his spare time to help me learn. I can tell Mr. Igonda is a very intelligent teacher. I am so glad that I have him as my teacher.
