Needed A LOT of packing up in a room full of collectibles & various items. Both gentlemen went above and beyond to assist in getting this huge project completed. They were very polite and accommodating. They were also conciensious in not leaving the door open to avoid a pet from possibly getting out. This was a huge inconvenience for them, I'm sure. This job took place in a two story unit.... Countless trips up & down stairs with heavy loads without any complaining. No items were damaged/broken by the end of the days job. They were on time. Great communication. Very accurate with estimates and client expectations from their services provided. Today included: packing, organizing, moving, and making sure that all special instructions with regard to certain things were addressed and handled efficiently. I have already booked them again for this coming week to assemble furniture as well. This business has certain individuals that excel in various areas of detailed work needs. I appreciated this a lot. This whole project was a BIG undertaking and they've received the highest praise I can honestly give for the services rendered thus far. I would highly recommend their services.

This is my first time using Thumbtack and this moving company and I'm more than happy with the outcome. The movers, Andrei and Gena, showed up when promised and got right to work. They used blankets to protect my furniture as well as the walls. I had a lot of heavy furniture, as well as a big treadmill they had to take apart and reassemble. Nothing got damaged or broken. Andrei and Gena worked extremely hard and worked nonstop. They were very professional. I would definitely hire this company again and would recommend them to anyone looking to hire movers. Thank you again Professional Moving Company -- especially to Andrei and Gena!!!

We needed to have a very large, heavy treadmill moved up a flight of stairs in our home. Larry and his son did a great job. They were professional, personable, and careful. They also arrived on time ((actually early) which is a big plus with me. The price was also quite reasonable. I would definitely use him again!

The guys did a good job with some challenges including some particularly heavy furniture and a spiral staircase which would not allow a queen box spring! Everything was moved as efficiently as possible without any issues on the part of the movers.

Truck showed up promptly 10 minutes before scheduled time. They got to work right away and packed up the house in about 2 hours - we had already moved 40% of our stuff, so we had fewer, but bulkier items we needed help with. The only problem we encountered was that the truck battery died some ways in to unloading the stuff. The lift at the back could not be operated any more. Had to give a boost to their truck from my van, and they kept the truck engine running rest of the time - some exhaust to deal with.

If you are in LA and need packing, loading, or local moving, this is who you call!!! I had a horrible experience last Saturday with Long Distance Relocation Services (nightmare)...tried to swindle me in the middle of the job. I had to kicked them out of my house. Had to switch course and execute Plan B, I found this guys on Thumbtack. I needed furniture, bulky items packing and loading a 28 feet semi full of things including my heavy gym machines. Frank and his crew at EXPERIENCED MOVERS MOVING SERVICE saved me today. Efficient, friendly, professional, hard working....made everything was smooth and stress-free for me. I highly recommend them!

Barry and his team of guys were amazing! My fiancé and I moved into a new house and we weren’t 100% sure about how we wanted the furniture arranged. These guys were totally happy to shift things around for us here and there until we were totally happy. Really amazing considering all the heavy lifting and hard work. I would most definitely use Flash moving again and will reconmend then to anyone I know who’s in the process of moving. Thanks again guys!

101 Relocation Services moved an upright piano to my new home, a few miles away from where I was living. Tony got back to me fast when I asked for a bid on Thumbtack and his bid was in the middle- not the most expensive, and not the cheapest. I based my decision on his positive reviews. Tony showed up on time with one assistant, Juan, and a lift truck with all the needed tools and supplies. They prepped the piano by wrapping it in moving blankets, shrink wrap, and mounting it on a slide board. This was a challenging move. The piano had to be carried up a flight of 12 stairs, turned 180 degrees on a small landing, then up a short flight to get it into the loft. I had doubts that it could be done because of the piano's weight (estimated 500 lbs) and bulk. Once getting to the house, Tony looked at the layout and promptly started. Moving a large, heavy piano in tight spaces requires skill and understanding of the strengths and limitations of the movers. Safety is the priority. Tony and Juan worked as a team throughout the move, and it was pleasure to how they worked together - no cussing, just sweating and grunting during the heavy lifts. No scratches in the wooden flooring; no dings on the walls. They cleaned up the worksites afterwards as well. Movers are often underappreciated. Difficult moves like mine separate the professionals from the mediocre. Tony and Juan are professionals, and I highly recommend 101 Relocation services for your next move. PS. Do yourself and the movers a favor by texting pictures of any tight spaces to the movers before they arrive. No one likes surprises!

These guys were amazing! This review is long overdue. Frankly, I would've done it sooner but I have been trying to remember the names of the two guys that did all the hard work and heavy lifting. I had my entire house staged and ready for loading and had removed all the little stuff to make the process run smoothly. When they arrived, I told him there was no way I could afford to go over the three hour minimum charge. This was my second move in a two week period. They not only were incredibly polite, kind and compassionate to my situation but they took my time and financial restrictions as a challenge to see how quickly they could get the move done. Suffice it to say that I was incredibly impressed as they managed to make a move that could've taken up to three hours or more into 1hr 45 minutes! I would not hesitate to recommend this company and when the time comes, I will definitely use them again they are awesome! Thank you, thank you, thank you Q Shark for moving me to a place I now call home!

I hired Muscle Movers owned by Christopher Carnes to move furniture from my home. They even disposed of our old couch and bed. They also moved some heavy items in our home to other rooms for us. I was very impressed with the work ethic and the high quality move they completed. They worked very fast and did the work at a very reasonable cost. They took excellent care of the items they moved, smiling all of the way. They were very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone needing a professional moving company that takes a personal interest in taking care of the customers moving needs. Thank you for providing the service. We have also used one of your plumbers with excellent results.

Great job for the 2 guys that came. I requested 3, which is my only reason for withholding a star. That said, American Movers kindly adjusted my per hour rate down to make up for the bit of heavy lifting I had to do!

This company was a godsend! I was extremely stressed out because several companies were unable to help me with my office move, but Brian, Rob and their team came through for me with flying colors! Their name fits them perfectly! I was so impressed with their customer service from start to finish, and the actual moving service they provide is unlike any I've experienced- they were friendly, professional, efficient, and really knew what they were doing with my heavy furniture as well as my delicate items and artwork I was pretty nervous about. I've already booked a second job with them. Thank you guys so much! This time around I truly feel less stress because I know the service you provide; I've been singing your praises! Looking forward to future business :)

Moving is not my favorite thing to do in the world. With snore knees and all, going up and downstairs is a challenge. So it was refreshing to have 4 movers come to our place and do all the heavy lifting for us. They made the move smooth and easy. I will definitely recommend and use them the next time I need help moving. I can't thank them enough.

These guys are professionals. They packed so nicely! Boxes disappeared so quickly! They never stopped for a break. I just stayed out of their way and let them work. The delivery was made on time and then they reopened my furniture and arranged heavy items where I wanted., There wasn’t any damage on my furniture and I paid quite low price. I am very happy also that the crew stuck around to help me with my electronics and other stuffs. Great to work with! These guys showed an effort and level of sensitivity that I would expect if they were moving their own family. I will recommend Cross Country Movers to all!

I used Big Ben’s Moving and Storage to help me move my office. We weren’t going far, just a few blocks actually, but it was still going to be a fairly large job as we have quite a few sensitive documents that we needed handled with care, as well as some equipment that was going to need some actual tools to move as they are too heavy to be carried. That said, Big Ben’s rose to the challenge and got everything done by the time they said they would. They were also very prepared and came with everything they would need which I appreciated.

this was my third move in 4 years two cross coast and this one local. Needless, to say the last cross country was a nightmare of a move. Hence, I was very careful this time and called quite a few companies. One gave an outrageous cost, the other one did not seem to be serious and thought a 3 men team was good for a big house and a heavy piano. Called, Rapid Moving even though it had less reviews compared to other companies and talked to Ethan. Asked for a visit to give me a quote. Madet and Anar showed up and within minutes I knew these were the guys. I still did not have a firm date but calling a few days before move was not an issue for Ethan and at my request had Anar, Madat, plus Haider and Saed showed up. They came earlier then promised and worked non stop without any chit chat and ensured that all the things were moved carefully to the truck and into my new house. They brought their own water and did not expect anything not even cold water from me. Amazing!! They brought lots of strength and mechanical engineering between them to lift heavy boxes, King size mattress and to unscrew the furniture and put it back together at the new place. They were the absolute best. What a bunch and will use them again at the drop of the hat for my next move.

We could not be happier with our experience with Bringpro! Two men arrived and were very personable. They moved several heavy furniture items in our house down a curved stairway and into our garage. They were very careful and used plastic wrap and blankets to protect the furniture and stair banisters. We also asked them to move a china hutch so we could put an area rug underneath it, which they carefully did. Finally, they also relocated several heavy items in our garage and lifted heavy boxes into a overhead storage area. We highly recommend and would use again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
