Brad is top notch. My wife and I hired him this past Saturday for our wedding. He was on time stayed a little extra and exceeded our expectations. He is a real artist. He is so instinctively quick and able to capture moments. He also has a strong crew. We opted for photos and video with Brad. We had children in our wedding party whom Brad photographed vivid and candidly. If anyone is in the market for a wedding photographer hire Brad on our recommendation, he could not have done a better job. Pure EXCELLENCE! Irene and Mark

Joe was the videographer of our wedding ceremony. He was easy and fast to communicate with before the wedding day. The day of the ceremony he arrived on time and found our wedding coordinator easily. He also congratulated us after the ceremony which was very nice of him and unexpected. Joe's prices were very reasonable and he had our video edited and mailed to us in 4 weeks. We love our video and can't wait to watch it in 50 years! Highly recommend! :)

Jami did the videography for our wedding at Castle Green in 2008. She was WONDERFUL! In fact, I had decided not to do videography at the wedding after reviewing a number of terrible, cheesy video samples, but then I found Jami. Her work is classy, tasteful, and timeless. She captured every special moment of the day. My whole family loves Jami's work -- my dad is actually the most obsessed with it and watched the video a bunch of times after the wedding. We watch the video instead of going through the photographs because it brings us back to the day instantly. Although, I will also add that Jami did give us a number of still images from her video work that are also beautiful and artistic. One other thing worth mentioning is that she was very professional onsite while shooting and didn't get in everyone's faces to get her shots. She was there, but she was discreet and still managed to capture beautiful images. My sister is getting married this spring and is going to have Jami video her wedding. I cannot recommend Jami more highly. Trust me, Jami's video will be your favorite keepsake!

ROF Industries headed up by Nicole Pittman-Staab and Chris Staab are videographers/photographers who created a wonderful presentation of an aerobatic jet flight I participated in over Southern California. They were able to set up numerous cameras, recorded the event from visually interesting angles, provided editing, musical scoring and conducted interviews with the participants in a documentary style video. The quality of the work was outstanding, ahead of schedule, and the crew at ROF are self motivated. They were always checking up on things and asking questions to make the product the best it could be for me. Everything went perfectly and better than I imagined. I'm very proud of their work and they made me feel and look like a star. They are very easy to work with, friendly and just plain nice! I am planning another doozy of a project for them next year and I wouldn't consider anyone else but them to pull it off.

Anita and Chris were the most AMAZING photographers for our wedding! They knew exactly what we wanted, they got all the photos on our check list, and they were very reasonable and honest about the time frame we had. Our wedding location was also on their bucket list, so being able to have them there was extra special. The photos turned out amazingly spectacular! I hope to work with them again in the future (maybe a maternity shoot?)

We loved our package! Mark is the sweetest and made me and my entire family cry after we viewed our wedding teaser because it was so beautiful. It was a great gift to the family members who were not able to make the wedding. My wedding video teaser was everything i was looking for and I highly recommend Marabate Studios and can't wait to work with Mark again.

We had Daniella Hovsepian as our wedding videographer for our wedding in early October in San Diego. We were impressed with the clips that she provided and she was very very easy to work with and super responsive. We waited too long to line up a videographer - but luckily we found Daniella through Thumbtack just a few weeks before the wedding - and she was available. Her prices were very reasonable, especially considering that it involved a long drive to get to our wedding. Once she was onsite - she seemed to fit effortlessly in alongside the other wedding vendors - coordinator, photographer, caterers, etc. - and needed very little guidance from me or anyone else to do her work. It was nice to have someone who so easily navigated a rather intimate gathering (our wedding was about 65 guests), and on her own intuition, captured so many nice personal moments for us. It was thrilling for us to look through the video. We were on a tight budget so didn't have her do a highlights trailer - but if you have the option highly suggest doing this! Her smile and pleasant demeanor show that she really enjoys what she's doing - and I could tell that helped people open up and just go on about their business while she did her filming, so she was able to capture some candid moments. Added bonus - she delivered the videos quickly!

If you are looking for a one-stop shop for your wedding, look no further. My experience with LadyMarry was unforgettable and I cannot thank them enough, I highly recommend them. Had my pre-wedding photos & wedding day (big day bundle) done by them and it was beautiful. I did my research and compared countless wedding services around Los Angeles and LadyMarry came out on top. Not only was the price ultra-competitive, but also the quality is next to none. I am so glad I choose LadyMarry for my pre-wedding photos and wedding day DJ, coordination, officiant, photo, video, decor and makeup.

Lenson Productions is AMAZING. Both Louis and Grant are personable and their work is superb! If you are even considering booking them, do it! You won't regret it! (I have not been bribed or asked to write a good review, they are just awesome, seriously) I did a LOT of homework and research when booking my vendors for my wedding. When it came to videography, as with most things, I found that the quality of work was in the price, the better the video the more it cost. However I did have a budget to stick to and sadly the videographers that were in my price range, their sample videos were just "eh" and "ok". One of the reasons why we wanted to do videography was because we wanted to catch the audio of my voice cracking as I cried during the ceremony (I'm Ms. Waterworks and I was positive that the emotion was going to make me cry) and unfortunately what I was finding is that the audio quality was good with the videographers I couldn't afford. And then, baby Jesus came to my rescue and I came across Lenson Productions! At the time I was in search for a videographer, Lenson only had one wedding under their belt and one sample video to go off of BUT it was perfect and exactly what I was looking for (good video, good angles, good music, good audio, good editing!). Due to my "research" the price they were asking was a steal so I got very excited and my husband, fiance at the time, went to meet with them. We met them and found out that even though they had only done one wedding video before that they were no strangers to the wedding atmosphere (one is in the music industry and has performed at weddings before and the other is a photographer that has shot weddings before). Their resume was impressive but they didn't really need to explain it to us, as their video spoke for itself … they know what they are doing! So we booked them. (They area also good LONG time friends/roommates, people who work together need to get along and that was also very comforting). From the time of the booking, through the wedding, and after, I never worried about them and they emailed to make sure they had the correct addresses for the getting ready, ceremony, and reception locations as well as verified they had the correct mailing address to mail us the final product after the wedding. On the day of the wedding they showed up nicely dressed and on time to all locations and "did their thing". They were never intrusive and guests had no idea that they were even there (what a good videographer should do). About a month or so after the wedding they initiated email conversation with us (boy is it nice to not have to worry about nagging your videographer and they come to you without asking) to ask us for a song choice for our wedding highlight film. I really appreciated this because we were involved in picking a song and I also appreciate that the request was after the wedding as it was one less thing to worry about before the wedding. Soon after we had a link to our completed wedding highlight video. We never had mentioned to them about the wanting to hear my voice crack, and it was in the highlight video! :D Shortly after receiving the highly video we received our full length video. Everyone adored the videos!! Lenson Productions mailed us through snail mail the DVD and blue-rays. In the full-length video I appreciated the song choices made throughout, they obviously paid attention to the music we liked from the wedding and incorporated that in. I also liked how the editing to both the video and sound was made. The songs don't just stop in the middle, but end each chapter smoothly. I also liked how all the toasts were captured. One thing I appreciated is that we got links to the the highlight film and full length film as soon as they were ready and we didn't have to wait for them to come in the mail to see them too! Both Louis and Grant are extremely professiona. As mentioned before, the quality of their work and asking price is a steal. I recommend you snatch them up for your day as soon as you can. The videography is important as this is one of the few things that you will be left with after the wedding to help you remember your special day and share it with your children, you don't want to regret your choice. I have a friend that got married 8 months before I did and she STILL does not have her highlight video or full wedding video edit. Lenson Productions is making her choice in videographer (which I'm pretty sure cost her more) look pretty bad as I got both before she did. I know I ranted, but I (and my husband) really am extremely happy with the interactions and work they produce. Two (four if you include my husband) thumbs up!

I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Just Love Films. From their positive attitude and professionalism to their stunning talent, I could not have chosen a more wonderful videographer. Our wedding day was stressful from the start, but as soon as Just Love Films got there and started filming video I felt like things were falling into place. I was already assured of Just Love Films considerable talent after seeing videos on their website, which I loved! But when I got the highlights video I was brought to tears. They managed to capture not only the best moments, but the spirit and energy of the best day of my life! Thank you

My husband and I interviewed 4 wedding video vendors. Our wedding planner insisted we use one of his people. We went with our own and Bryan was one of our best wedding videographer decisions. I am so glad that we decided to hire a professional videographer like Bryan for our wedding! It was well worth the money and I would recommend him to any bride-to-be. The film was wonderful and did a great job at capturing all the special moments on our wedding day. Your wedding day is an investment and among the many things, it is certainly an investment in memories.

Joseph was extremely professional and our video turned out ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. During our wedding, hardly anyone even noticed we had a videographer because he was very discrete and not disruptive at all. Very professional and timely as well. Our video turned out better than I could have ever expected and it captured our day so well. The quality of the editing and the music choice exceeded our expectations! I would highly recommend hiring him for your wedding or any other event!

Action was great! We decided on videography for our wedding sort of last minute (about a month before) and was lucky to have found him. He did a great job on our highlight video and exceeded our expectations. It captured all the important moments from the getting ready, first look, ceremony, speeches, reception, our guests and even the details like our cake and drone footage of our venue. Not to mention that Action was also easy to work with and was done with our video sooner than expected. Highly recommend!

Lynly was the perfect person as the videographer at my wedding! Not only was so sweet and very professionally, but we LOVE our wedding video so much! She did a great job making a high quality video that was better and longer than we even expected! She went above and beyond to make sure she got the special moments, even when some events at the wedding were delayed. She really cares about the client and the product and we would ALWAYS use her again if we need a videographer in the future. She is highly recommended!!!!! Thank you, Lynly!!! You made our day so special and I'm so glad we chose you!

My wife and I were getting married in March of 2013. The wedding preparations and schedule were hectic. As the day got closer and closer, the anticipation was killing me!!! Then came the day of the wedding. I met Deyo and Kyle as they spent the beginning of the day with my bride and I. In my head, these were the guys that were going to capture my wedding on video for the rest of eternity. These would be the guys that would create the film that my wife, my future children, my friends and family would view 10, 15, 20, 50 years from that day. Deyo was with me in my ready room as I was getting ready. He made the experience easy as he asked me questions about how I met my wife, when we met, where we met and so on. He took my mind off of the anticipation of the day. Throughout the ceremony and reception, they were in the background taking pictures, videos and editing the entire time. When I checked on them throughout the reception (because I wanted to make sure that everyone at the event was okay and having a good time) they were working tirelessly on our video. According to my wife, Kyle was with her keeping her calm, making her laugh and recording the day of the event. Towards the end of the reception, the video was ready for our viewing pleasure. My wife and I have LARGE families. We've been to many many many weddings. The video that Deyo and Kyle put together for us made our wedding. They captured the emotion, the anticipation, the feelings that my wife and I were both feeling all throughout the planning, throughout the months of waiting and finally throughout that day. The music, the scenes, the video they captured... I still don't know how to say thank you enough to District 12 Films. They're innovative in their craft and bring a rare level of professionalism that is really hard to find when dealing with people that you barely know. On our once in a lifetime event, they made the day even more memorable. To this day, when our family, friends and us watch the video that they created for us, it brings us back and puts tears in our eyes and smiles on our faces. I know that sounds cheesy, but it is absolutely true. Thank you again guys!!!!

I interviewed 5 or 6 videographers and I felt like I was speaking a foreign language no one could capture my vision entirely. A friend had gone to a wedding a few months before and was raving about the finished product and the company who did the work. I immediately contacted LA Artist and I kid you not the lady who took my call caught my vision - granted in bits and pieces but that was enough for me. I met with the team from LA Artist and as the name says, they began to sketch out my vision on paper and after a 2hr. meeting which seemed more like 30mins, because we were brainstorming and having such fun. I walked out having signed a contract and more then anything piece of mind! If you are looking for the best in LA they are the real deal, they stayed within my budget and actually below because things I thought I needed they showed me how to get the professional and polished look I wanted without up selling me, and that I appreciated. So again LA Artist, don’t waste your time “shopping” around go directly to the Artist themselves. Signed, Satisfied and Returning Customer

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
