Georgianne has exceptional ability to build rapport quickly. She is an experienced english teacher who was able to "start at the right place" with our ESL student. She gave our student a list of social phrases that helped her immensely in her adjustment to a US High School. She is helping her with difficult psychology assignments. We can recommend her without reservation to anyone needing tutoring for a high school student.
I was looking for some help with my daughter in math and reading but I am really busy and didn't want to have to take her somewhere and then wait. Kingsfield tutors has been so great! First of all, its convenient. But more importantly, my daughter is very happy. She is doing better in school and understanding concepts. I will continue to use Kingsfield Tutors at least through the summer, if not longer. Thank you!!
My daughter has had 8-9 sessions and she is very pleased with the learning experienced. Her reading and writing of English is improving. We plan to make this a long-term relationship.
I am very impressed with the quality of service I received with Arbor Tutors. This is the best tutoring company I've ever come across.
My daughter had summer homework for her honors English class. Kassandra worked with her and two of her friends once a week throughout the summer. Kasandra worked out a summer lesson plan to make sure they read the book, but more importantly she made sure they fully understood their homework and related the classic literature to modern storytelling they could all understand. They all had a great time working with Kassandra and and enjoyed learning their summer work. I highly recommend Something Old Something New Tutoring.
My son was struggling in his High School French II class. We found Mary Lee mid semester. After a few tutoring sessions he was back on track! She successfully was able to teach him proper grammar, reading, writing and speaking French. And she also was able to keep learning French fun for him! It was easy to schedule tutoring time with her even with his busy schedule. He improved his final grade by 2 letter grades!! I would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone, she truly cares about all her students. I only wish we had found her sooner. :-)
Maureen has been so helpful with my son. She has been covering the basics of reading then on to grammar and writing. She communicates well with me for our appointments and is very prompt.
Anna has a special approach to engage and interest a child in the task. Her expertise and skill in this field are commendable. I highly recommend her.
I am a dedicated tutor who works carefully to tailor lessons to individual students, using flash cards, informal questioning, computer activities (Quizlet, quia.com), etc. I do tutoring for my school--I teach 10th grade and 10th grade honors English-- and I have tutored and helped English students with paper editing and CAHSEE and CST, ACT, and SAT Prep. This past school year, I tutored English for a middle school student, and I also helped three high seniors prepare-and score highly-on ACT and SAT tests. These students make it seven high school/middle school students I've tutored in English/test prep (I also tutor Spanish). For example, in September/October of 2014, I tutored a high school senior who was preparing for her second SAT test. Our approximately eight weeks of work together resulted in an 80 point jump in her verbal/writing score. My test prep includes vocabulary building, computer exercises using the College Board website, and guided practice with immediate feedback.
English is my second language. For certain words, I couldn't pronounce like native speakers. For example, I couldn't pronounce correctly any words starting with letter 'v'. Jeff help me correct my pronunciation by repeatedly demonstrating the way to pronounce those words. Moreover, I sometimes found it really difficult to express myself in a correct way due to my limited vocabulary. In order to help me solve this problem, Jeff makes me read articles in every class and mark down words that I can't pronounce or understand. By doing so, I have been able to expand my vocabulary. These activities significantly enhanced my speaking, listening and writing skills.
As a recent graduate of American River College with an emphasis on honors English, I am interested in helping young students with reading and writing skills while I pursue my 4-year degree. I have been trained through the "SmartKids" program and am certified to tutor children in grades K-6. I currently work as a professional "reader" for the Department of Education and spent many years working as a pre-school teacher when my son was young. I prefer to come to your home or a local library for tutoring sessions and I have very flexible hours of availability.
I don't have a business for this but have recently edited The Portuguese Pioneers of the Sacramento Area by my father and edited many of my own writings. I am retired and write and edit as a hobby. I do them because I enjoy them and not because I need to do them.
I provide quality, friendly service (mostly online). If you have any questions regarding your writing or math problems, I will be more than happy to help and make a difference.
I am willing to help you with math and English. I completed high school course in advance mathematics and an honors English class.
I have an MA in English with an emphasis in Composition from CSU Sacramento and a BA in English with an Emphasis in Teaching from UC Davis. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers, I tutored English and Biology. I am currently pursuing a Certificate in Teaching Technical Communication from Texas Tech University and I am a full time lecturer in the University Writing Program at UC Davis. Throughout the past eight years, I have taught at CSU Sacramento and UC Davis. At both of those institutions I taught First Year Composition. As a Teaching Associate at CSU Sacramento, I also taught an upper division writing in the disciplines course. Now at UC Davis, I teach a wide range of courses, including Style in the Essay, Advanced Composition, and Writing for Business, Writing for Social Justice, Writing for Health, and Writing for Psychology and Human Development. The course I teach most frequently is Writing in the Health Professions. I’ve designed several iterations of this course, including a general focus, a hybrid version, and a version that focuses on women’s health issues, specifically. Throughout all of my upper division courses, I teach critical thinking, active reading, rigorous research methods, and rhetorical awareness with special attention on audience. Regardless of the course, my students find my instructional methods to be extremely effective.
I build confidence and teach people how to teach themselves.
Helping students shine when they speak and write is what I do. I inspire confidence because I can identify a student's weak point and make it a strong point. Being bilingual, I help Spanish speakers over the many bumps in the English-learning road. As a journalist and teacher, I make it easier for English speakers to become more fluent and better writers.
I'm a graduate from UC Santa Cruz with the major in the development and roots of the English language. I also attended University of Chicago and University of Pennsylvania. I have tutored in language before.
I'm a high school student who have been having straight A's for two years in a row and experience in playing the piano. I have a great passion for reading and writing, and since I can speak Vietnamese, I can help teach English to Vietnamese people and vice versa as well. Since I'm not a professional, I'm willing to negotiate prices. I'm known by teachers and friends for being responsible, hardworking, and helpful.
I have a long track history of writing interesting, focused, and persuasive papers for academic and college settings. Over the years, I have developed a keen eye for spotting, defining, and repairing many types of common and special errors typical of student papers, from developing the bare bones of a thesis and layout of a paper to refining tone, word choice, transition of ideas, and more, along with having a good practical use of all the structures associated with writing good, clean academic papers (grammar, spelling, formatting standards, etc.). Throughout my high school and college years, I found I had a good knack for sighting and suggesting improvements for my peers' papers, and each time, the paper got a higher grade. Now I hope to bring these skills to help you. In my past tutoring and editing experience, I have mostly worked with high school and college students, but I am more than willing to work with any skill level provided the individual client is mature, motivated, and prepared to improve their work, even if it means facing some hard facts about some of their writing habits. Each client I have worked with has taught me something new both about being a tutor and being a shrewd freelancer, and I only want my experience in this field to continue to grow. I am more than willing to adjust to your needs, provided they are reasonable ones, and look forward to seeing more clients succeed at their academic goals.
I love to read and write now that I have mastered it. I understand the challenges that some kids face when it comes to English class, writing reports or essays, or even reading. I know all the tricks. Let me help them find the short cuts so that they can succeed at school and not fear it. I have a bachelor of arts degree, and I am currently a graduate student!
