Definitely looking forward to working with coach Margo for the long run. I was looking for someone to help me in both conditioning as well as self defense. This would be my first time having a personal trainer outside of my family. I was a bit nervous as I had just done research online and had not actually attended anywhere. Coach Margo was the first to respond to my request which was awesome. I was wanting something immediate as well. He was ready to start right away. Coach Margo was extremely professional and my Fiancee actually ended up wanting to train with him as well. I am excited to continue training with coach Margo in learning Muay Thai.

Eli is a good friend of mine, he has helped me a lot along the way of my fitness journey. With me loving fitness myself and looking to become a trainer as well, meeting Eli has been a fairly sound motivator for me. When it come to fitness and martial arts, he has a certain enthusiasm about him that inspires you to work harder, do a little more, be more creative. I've recommended him to other friends of mine and the feedback is all the same. If you want results, he can help you get them.

The classes at MG Kenpo are not merely a karate lesson, but an enlightening section towards your mind and body. Since MG Kenpo is a family size dojo, Master Gomez can focus on students one on one through regular class section. Master Gomez demonstrated an admirable degree of passion, knowledge and skills towards Kenpo. His moves are polished & professional and the students learned a lot from him. His teaching includes a wide variety of Kenpo School Teaching method, such as Old School Kenpo Training, New Conventional Kenpo class, Kenpo Technique Line, Basic Tranditional Karate and technique knowledge. He varied his class to be age appropriate for primary, middle and upper grade students and made good use of student participation. I highly recommend Master Gomez & MG Kenpo Academy to all kids, audit and Kenpoist.

My son and I have been students at Crescent Moon Karate dojo for over a year now. My son has earned his yellow belt and shows improvement across so many areas of his life - at home, in school with friends! His confidence soared even more when we had his birthday party there this past summer! And it was quite possibly the most awesome kids birthday party I have been to or hosted! Renshi Torres ran a seamless celebration which focused on getting the kids into a lot of karate fun and games and making my little boy the hero of the party. My son got to break a piece of wood with a karate kick!! The other kids were so excited! We got 2 party assistants and the kids were entertained from beginning to end! Awesome party for the price! The first thing my son said afterward..."Can we do it again next year?" I am so happy to be a part of this school as a parent and a student myself. I love my MMA class and plan on enrolling in karate too sometime soon. CMK is a wonderful, traditional dojo with a talented instructor and support staff. I can't recommend them enough!

My son has been taking karate classes from Sensei Jafari for over 4 years. Sensei has helped him with his focus and discipline. His methods are effective as he combines age (and belt) appropriate expectations and fun into all the classes. We enjoy the special classes such as beach training, holding classes in the park, and incorporating weapons classes. Sensei is also very strict on when students test for their next belt level ensuring not only physical ability but mental preparedness. Take one class and you will be convinced that this is the dojo for you!

My children have been under the instruction of Reginald Venson for years and I couldn't be happier with our experience. He disciplines all the children but with a certain level of compassion and encouragement. He has helped my boys perfect their karate skills and also makes sure they are successful in school. Its been a pleasure working with him.

We've been taking karate at American Kenpo Karate in both group and private class for two years. As an educator who works with both kids and young adults, I appreciate their care and professionalism. I know my daughter is safe with her instructors. She has thrived under their study and has earned her belts through hard work and well executed katas. In addition Kenpo is the best form of self defense for karate. The classes teach discipline, excellent form and responsibility. I would look here before considering anywhere else. They are a step above the rest!

Sensei Kevin was an extremely FUN & positive role model to my twin boys who started karate under his instruction. They went up to green belt w/ him & are now brown belt. They've learned a lot from him & we missed him terribly when he left. Anyone would be truly blessed to have him as their Sensei!

I love this dojo! its clean, fully equipped and matted. Not like some others schools in the area that just train on carpet and use hard flooring. Blisters on the feet from carpet burns are not fun. Duarte Shotokan teaches Real Karate from a traditional lineage and it is a safe place to train, especially for kids. All the instructors and assistants are very kind and caring too. I have been in class for a few weeks already and I love the intense workouts and practical self defense lessons that are taught. I would recommend Duarte Martial arts Academy to anyone looking for a fun, safe and caring dojo.

I cannot recommend Guro Conrad more highly as an Filipino Martial Arts instructor. As a long time practitioner of karate and Wing Chun, I really appreciate his teaching style. First and foremost, Guro is himself a very skilled FMA practitioner and holds very high standards. He therefore always reminds students to maintain proper "intention" when practicing techniques and movements. In order to allow students to grasp that concept, he continually connects drills to practical application, even at the earliest stages of learning. He is quite strict on this point, which I really appreciate, as it keeps us from getting mentally lazy. Also his explanations save us from having to figure things out by "osmosis," as we do in many traditional styles. Secondly, in private lessons, Guro studies his students to come up with a lesson plan that fits their attributes and weaknesses. This means that each lesson is tailored to the student's abilities in order to maximize learning and students are able to progress as slowly as they need to or as quickly as they are able. This is very refreshing and rewarding if you happen to be a quick learner and it allows slower learners to progress instead of just trying to keep up. Thirdly, Guro is extremely good at breaking down concepts and drills so that your body (and mind) can isolate a movement, but then also knows how and when to progress a student to the next step. This is very helpful, especially for beginners, and I have found myself going from a single basic motion to a free flowing interactive drill within a single lesson. Lastly, Guro Conrad really cares about his students and their progress, which really shows not only in how he teaches but in how he treats his students. We are very lucky to have found him!

This karate academy is excellent. Sensei Greg is an excellent instructor, and a trustworthy person. Teaching karate, especially to the children is extremely important to him. You never get the idea that he's just trying to make money. On the contrary, he has given up his time for free in many cases. He also cares about his students on a personal level, and does whatever he can to bring out their personal best in all areas.

Kevin James is one seriously dangerous karate man! He personally trained the management team of StaffPro Securty, the nation's leading sporting event security staffing firm. Everyone in attendance praised his outstanding delivery of content and professional manner in which classes were conducted. You're not going to find a better instructor anywhere.

Progressive Martial Arts Academy is a awesome school that offers Shorin Ryu karate for kids ages 4 and up, teens, and men and women. Sensei Larry Fouts along with Sensei Ginger Taniguchi and Sensei Jade Taniguchi teach the karate classes and they do a terrific job. They are all highly skilled and well trained and are great with kids. They also teach a program for special needs kids and adults. The Japanese art of Aikido, taught by Sensei Takahashi, is also taught (seperately) and cardio kick boxing is offered as well. Highly recommended!

About

Zen Bushido Kan Karate-do offers traditional Japanese karate-do and self-defense classes, serving the cities of Whittier, La Habra, La Habra Heights, Hacienda Heights, and all neighboring areas. All levels and ages are welcome. Shito Ryu's five principles of self-defense: * Teni: Taisabaki (footwork) - shifting or turning quickly out of the opponent's way. * Ryusui: Soft blocking - redirecting a strong attack with a circular or deflecting parry. * Raka: Hard blocking - striking an off-center or indirect attack with sudden maximum power. * Hangeki: Defense as attack - a good defense is offense. * Kushin: Springing - a reflexive, darting "out and in" kind of body, shifting from any angle.
