Kenshaka gave me acting lessons via video chat which is already a difficult task, but he was a great guide and mentor regardless of those obstacles. He is also very flexible and willing to be available for help outside of the scheduled lesson times. Excellent teacher and I would recommend him to others!

Bill is a very nice guy and a really good teacher who knows how to improvise. Second city taught him well. He doesn't yell at the students like some of my previous acting teachers. I've only had 3 improv teachers and Bill is the best teacher i've had.

My daughter Sarah was frightened to go before an audience. She even refused to rehearse her lines and sing in front of her parents. We worked with singing and acting coaches, but it was Theresa Finamore that really changed my daughter. Once we started working with Theresa, we dropped all the other coaches. Theresa was positive and vivacious. She brought fun to the whole acting and singing experience. She turned my daughter from a shrinking wall flower to the star of her school musical. The experience with Theresa changed my daughters life. She now has confidence and poise whenever she is in front of an audience.

I feel Jennifer and I have a great connection , we get along fabulously. She is a tremendously talented musician and singer (obviously ). Her abilities as a pianist and singer is equally matched by her ability to professionally yet pragmatically teach, mentor, tutor and guide one in the art of operatic singing. We have established goals. She is the epitome of promptness. I always look forward to my lessons with Jennifer. It is an honor to be her student . Sincerely - Dave

Actors Youth Academy is a great school to improve or begin to learn Spanish and acting skills (or a combination of the two). The teachers are passionate and insightful, experienced in their fields, and able to provide constructive and insightful feedback. This is a great place to learn, amongst the talented students and the inspiring instructors, and I highly recommend giving them a call right now!!

Gretchen is a fantastic voice teacher who, while she brings a great deal of experience to the table, takes a warm and personal approach to each of her students. She keeps her students skills, aspirations and interests top of mind. Gretchen is not only superb at teaching the technical aspects of voice, she also helps her students deal with the complicated and emotional aspects of musical theater. She is supportive and really connects with students of all ages. My daughter took periodic voice lessons with Gretchen for over the course of 9 months to help prepare for a role in a high school musical, and I could easily hear the difference in her singing ability. In addition, I know several of her other students who also rave about their experiences with Gretchen. She really knows her stuff!

I started with Brenda's group lessons as a bucket list item. I'd always wanted to sing onstage but never really knew how to go about being trained. I very much enjoy my time with Brenda and the other students. I've made new friends and brought another friend in to join us. I've been involved in several showcases now, as we do one at the end of each session. I have also started going regularly to local open mike shows where I sing in front of an audience. I have much more confidence in my singing and am willing to try things out in front of friends and strangers without too much anxiety. Even if I flop, and that has happened, I go back, work it out and try it again. I would never have dared to do something like that before I started with Brenda.

Andrea Morgan is a teacher that inspires her students creativity and cultivates a passion for the world of theater. Andrea is sensitive to students various learning styles, and is able to teach and direct in a very interpersonal way, in order to draw out each students strengths and further their creative growth. She is structured, respectful, understanding, comical, and committed to serving her students. Andrea's passion for the art of theater creates a learning environment that encourages her students to explore their own ideas and apply to them not only in the classroom, but out in the entertainment industry. I am a former student of Andrea's and can honestly say that it is because of her teachings and encouragement that I continued to pursue acting. I also worked as the theater secretary for Andrea Morgan's theater company, Chrysalis Stage. It was a great learning experience to watch her multi task as an actor, director, dialect coach, designer, and costumer. I Learned the art of theater making from Andrea, and have a much a deeper respect for all areas of theater because of her.

I offer a fun, interactive teaching style that encompasses more than 20 years of performing and 15 years of teaching experience. As a performer, I have worked as a professional singer, actor, musician and dancer. I have always had a passion for teaching, directing and composing. While my love for performing has lessened over the years, I have found my true calling: teaching, directing and helping others to find their passion for music and the performing arts. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies with a special emphasis in music, theater, dance and psychology. I am a graduate candidate working on completing my thesis as my final requirement for a Master of Arts degree in music at San Diego State University. I teach all levels of acting, working with voice, breathing and acting techniques. I do a scene study for theaters, as well as movies and television. Private, one-on-one coaching is also available.

About

Acting for film and TV is a practical application of the techniques students will learn in these acting classes. Our film and TV class explores the various forms of the medium technically and artistically: script analysis, the rehearsal process, scaling the character's levels of expressiveness, and revealing the inner life in close-up. Every week, every student will learn to break down a scene, actor attack it, apply our lesson directly by putting it down on camera, watching it back, and if time permits, doing it again with new actor choices you will learn. This class is perfect for every actor who really needs to hone the skills he already has, builds audition rhythm, and releases nerves in a positive way. Scenes will be provided from current television and films auditioning that current week.
