We used MGB Relocations twice for our move to Menifee from Downey. Mario, Anthony and Oscar, did a wonderful job protecting our items, and knowing exactly how to position them in their truck for safety during the long drive. They wrapped items that we could not get to, advised us on the best way to package items for the move, delivered them to our storage until our new home was ready to move in. They brought supplies, when we had run out. We arranged to have them come back a month later (I did not think they would even consider that), loaded the truck again to move into our beautiful home. They are the friendliest professionals, with reasonable prices, hard workers that take special care to protect our things. I would hire them again in a heartbeat, and will recommend them highly to anyone that needs professional movers, with great attitudes, at a reasonable price. They were worth much more!! Thanks guys!

I received two reminder calls: one the day before and the second when the truck was en route. Very reassuring for someone in the middle of juggling a move. The truck arrived 30 minutes early (not late). The two gentlemen were polite and friendly. I appreciate the free wrapping of all my furniture. The only reason for 4/5 stars is that one couch leg was broken (I think it's salvageable but it will require some attention). Would use movers again. Also, the price was just right (and I shopped around).

Hiring movers was the best thing I've ever done and 5 Star Moving made it such an easy experience! I requested a quote to move from Carson, CA to Sacramento, CA, which is roughly 400 miles. After I reached out to them, Mike came to my apartment for an estimate. Just a few hours later I received an estimate in my email. I was looking at another moving company that my parents had used previously, who had quoted us a lower quote. 5 Star Moving matched the price when I asked them! A day before the move they confirmed with me via email and everything was ready to go. Mike and Azo were extremely professional, hardworking, and fast. They're very friendly and polite, but didn't waste time chitchatting. They moved my 800 sq ft apartment on the 3rd floor in under 2 hours and I was able to hit the road earlier than scheduled. They showed concern regarding the stress put on my cats while they were emptying the apartment, which I really appreciated. The guys wouldn't let me carry anything so I just sat back and relaxed! Before they left, they explained how many rest stops they would be taking and how long their breaks would be. On the road, they kept me updated with ETAs through text. Of course since they were driving a truck I beat them to Sacramento, but I wasn't worried since I knew exactly when I should be expecting them thanks to their updates. They unloaded the truck really quickly and nothing had been broken or damaged. They were no doubt tired, but said they were going back to LA the same night! With a total driving time of roughly 16 hours round trip for them, I really appreciate the quick and friendly service Mike and Azo provided. I would recommend these guys and 5 Star Moving 100%. The only thing I'm sad about is that they don't have a base in the Sacramento area so I can't hire them again the next time I move! =)

Barry and his team of guys were amazing! My fiancé and I moved into a new house and we weren’t 100% sure about how we wanted the furniture arranged. These guys were totally happy to shift things around for us here and there until we were totally happy. Really amazing considering all the heavy lifting and hard work. I would most definitely use Flash moving again and will reconmend then to anyone I know who’s in the process of moving. Thanks again guys!

It was a last minute moving request. We have booked an appointment with other moving company, but they didnt show up in the last minute. These guys really helped us. They quoted the lowest for moving between LA and Irvine out of 10 other moving companies that i talked to. The loading just took around 1 and half hours for one bed and unloadingn was faster than that. This is my second moving in last two years and all the previous movers were hourly based and took 2-3 hours just for loading alone. Over all it was a happy experience. I would like to recommend these guys to anyone!

Edward, Alec, and Vladimir were great. They arrived early, worked very quickly, and with great care. They were all very friendly and made moving as painless as possible. They also provided several new wardrobe boxes free of charge which made moving clothes quick and easy. Would definitely work with this team again and would recommend them to anyone moving in the LA area. There was some confusion with the company representative as to what insurance is carried. Note that this company does not have liability insurance but has automobile insurance covering the moving truck. If you have a picky HOA, that may not be enough.

I used Ben Hur Moving to move both my house and my office in the last month. I was very impressed with the professionalism and responsiveness of the company from my first contact with them. My house move was a big one and the team who came (arriving early too) really did an excellent job. Given that it was a townhouse with lots of stairs, they managed to make it look easy. We even had them move our grand piano and they problem-solved to get it out of a very tight space. The guys were very professional, courteous, careful and pleasant to spend the day with - and it was a whole day! Even a small issue relating to an additional truck was resolved by Nicole the day after the move. For my office, Nicole was very helpful and flexible regarding my dates. The crew arrived on time and got right to work. One of the guys was even part of the crew who had moved my house. This was a quicker move but required navigating through an antiques store. The guys were professional and made sure to be extremely careful with my property as well as all the antiques in the store which they had to navigate. Overall, I feel fortunate to have found Ben Hur Moving to look after what was a very busy and stressful month. They are extremely responsive to any issues, informative and helpful (I purchased additional insurance and we went over the parameters of that together), as well just making me feel like a valued customer.

What didn't we like is better question! This was our first time using Roadrunner and we were most impressed with their professionalism. We had a complex move that required a bunch of different moving parts and they were able to accommodate everything. They were efficient, fast, great problem solvers and very friendly the entire time. We will be using them ever move going forward. Lastly I would like to mention that we trusted them which is a big deal when you let strangers in your home :)

The crew I had Ed, Beibut where one of the most pleasant people to around when watching them I noticed they where very consistent in there work and didn't slack of or take many breaks. Everything I had including sofas, chairs, tables, and washer machines where wrapped quickly and handled without any scratches or marks, from my experience I can definitely say this was an amazing crew and lovely SafeNFast .

All I can say is wow these guys are great! I was planning on doing the move from Los Angeles to San Francisco on my own, but once I found out how much it would cost me to rent a truck and buy all the boxs as well as equipment need to do the job I was left dumbfounded. It's turn out it was a lot better to just hire a company. This moving company-was able to squeeze me in last mintue when others would not with out charge me this crazy fee. They were able to move a lot of my large furniture like if it was notting. Over all I did not have a single negtive remark to say. The whole experence was enjoyable as far as any move goes. I would recommand these guys in a heart beat. Once again thank you Moober moving company.

They arrived a little late, due to traffic, which was fine. The three men: Elmer, Alex, and Afir were competent, knowledgeable, and hard-working. They worked together effectively and transported everything without any significant issues. We moved into an upstairs apartment, so they effectively managed the piano, refrigerator, and large sofa challenges. We're moving into the apartment while we house hunt and will be hiring them back for the big move.

Really fast movers! They do not play around. They even showed up 10 minutes early (that literally never happened with any other moving company before) George and his helper moved my 2 bdr from Studio City to Irvine in 6 hours (plus double drive something). Not one lazy moment....they knocked that shit out lol Total was $700 which is damn near good price for how fast it was! Best moving and packing experience ever!

The movers at AmerApex Moving could not have done a better job moving our belongings over 2,000 miles away. The crew was on time, polite, very careful, and kept the move fun and in good spirits. Nothing was damaged and the price did not budge a penny. Thank you again for making my move across country stress free. I will be recommending AmerApex Moving to all my friends and family!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
