After a web search, my bride and I discovered iPicBooth. The reviews were positive. One service was the green screen that really attracted us to iPicBooth. The whole process was positive, great and easy! Saving the date, signing the contract, working out logistics - all straightforward. Stan, our primary contact, was responsive. His employee for the night was great with the guests and professional. The pictures our guests took at the wedding reception were great! There were numerous props and background choices. The process to print was smooth. The guests had a great time. From kids to teens to 40 somethings and seniors. There was fun for all with iPicBooth. I thought the cost was a great return on investment for the memories that were made. Thank you!

Tucker's reputation for amazing performance's is well known in the South Bay of LA. I was referred to him by a group of moms on Facebook who had all hired him for various private entertainment or music teaching jobs. He can sing over 8 hours of pre arranged classic songs and is willing to arrange specific requests if you want him to. He also is a phenomenal songwriter and rapper who can write and produce custom songs for his clients (which we are currently paying Tucker to do for us to give to a family member as a belated Christmas gift). His prices are unbelievably affordable and competitive and his custom service is also very professional. You can tell that Tucker loves entertaining people and that was what we loved most about his performance at our party. Definitely hiring Tucker Dale Booth again!

Ivan's photos of our corporate event were beautiful and really captured all aspects of the two days he was there. He was punctual and responded quickly. We asked him to send us a few (5-6) photos after the first day that we could share on social media, and he sent us MANY more than that. We would definitely recommend him!

Photonometry far exceeded our expectations, highly, highly recommended. They arrived early and set up the most wonderful display of props. The selection of props were wonderful, too many outstanding options to choose from. I would say that there are easily over 100+ props total with a great array of options from the cutest my little pony glasses to intimidating viking hat and everything in between to bring out your guests hidden devil or silly clown. Jay and Leila showed up in photonometry polo uniform, so that there is no confusing them for guests and were very professional. As your guests are in line, they help them get props organized and make suggestions. After your pictures are done, they place the props back in order so that your guests don't waste their time. At the end of the night, they provided us with a usb stick with all the photos, instant gratification!!! (i know other companies get this usb to you later) Accompanying our usb was the sweetest little note from Jay and Leila, were they thanked us for their service. Little details like that go a long way. Will definitely use again and again, they have earned our future business.

I hired LaBak the musician to entertain at my daughter's 8 th birthday party. First of all he was very easy to work with. Before the event, when I had questions he always got back to me very promptly. The day of the event he arrived on time and was very flexible with his schedule when one of the other entertainers arrived late, he accomadated my situation and started his show much later than we had discussed. Very impressed. He worked with me and put me at ease. My guests love that he went around to everyone and performed some magic before starting his main show for the kids. I absolutely loved that he made my daughter the focal point of some of his tricks. She loved it. She ended up with a Giant $100 bill a $10 bill and a giant playing card with "Happy Birthday and her name on it" All in all, the show was great and it definitely entertained everyone. One of my daughter's friends said she wanted a magician at her next birthday party. I was left very happy with LaBak and his magic show.

Lou Serrano is awesome!! I hired him for my Mom's 80th Birthday Party. We had 40 - 45 people at our home. Lou was very personable, and kept in touch with me by phone during the booking process (which was extremely easy), and on the day of the party. When he arrived, he was very polite, and mingled with the guests, who didn't realize he was a magician, until he surprised them with his strolling magic. He is excellent in slight-of-hand, and really delighted our guests. After a brief break, and setting up an area indoors, Lou performed a stage show that was absolutely amazing. My father had been an amateur magician, and Lou added an illusion into the show that my dad used to do, which made it very special. My guests are still talking about what a wonderful party it was. The magic really made the day. Lou is a very talented magician, and very professional. He's just a really nice guy. Not full of himself, like some entertainers can be. He is a member of the Magic Castle. and the show he performed was first class. You will NOT be disappointed if you hire him for your event!!

John was the DJ for my daughter's wedding and we had SO much fun! He was very easy to deal with pre-wedding, and kept everyone dancing. (In fact the bride never sat all evening!) Our guests really enjoyed themselves, in large part due to the music. John also acted as MC and paced the evening perfectly. The company was recommended to me by a co-worker - who gave John nothing but rave reviews - and he did not disappoint. Additionally, their rates are very reasonable. I would use After Dark Entertainment again and would highly recommend them in a heartbeat!

Mix together sheer talent and star quality with kindness and you have Jonathan Molo himself. He is a standout entertainer who is generous in spirit. He was the highlight of my booth at a huge community event—he mesmerized children and adults alike. I plan to hire him for future events because he is downright exceptional. I offer my highest recommendation.

My husband and I were planning a business party for about 300 people and wanted to make it special by having some "strolling" entertainers. Neither of us knew much about magicians but were really put at ease by Kristoff's responsive interaction and help. The night was so much fun and Kristoff was a big part of the night's success. He spent time before the party getting to know something about who would be in attendance and planning special tricks for specific groups of people...what a blast! Will definitely hire him again! His wife coming along for photo taking and guest interaction was a pleasant bonus! Worth every penny!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

  • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
  • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
  • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
    • Photo guest album services: $75.
    • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
    • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
    • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.
