Introduction: I have been trained by the best professors in the United States, such as Alexander Reisman (New England Conservatory)and Daniel Rothmueller (Los Angeles Philharmonic) Jeffrey Solow (protege of Gregor Piatigorsky) also participated in various seminars and workshops throughout the United States to improve my skills as a conductor and teacher. I love my job as a teacher. It is always rewarding to see my students improve every week even if it is one small task they achieved that week. And during my required student recitals that is held twice yearly my students show off what they have learned over a 6 month period and each and everyone of them have shown some improvement if not a great improvement. That is worth teaching. I always give an introductory lesson (FREE) so that all students can come talk to me and to play for me and gives us time to get to know how I teach and what is expected during the lesson.

I have been so thankful and pleased to take cello lessons from Arlette these past three years. Her experienced instruction has helped me improve bowing and fingering techniques, and her great coaching has enabled me to better voice my cello to a richer, stronger sound. Arlette’s advice on best posture and handling of my cello has made me feel more comfortable and confident with my instrument. In addition, Arlette has helped me use the written dynamics and note phrases to achieve a desired mood of a piece. Currently I play in a middle school/high school/community string orchestra. Arlette's patient, cheerful, and affordable instruction has been a great help in preparing me for the challenging music in the repertoire. Cathi (69 years-young)

Our son has been taking Cello lessons from Arlette for 1 1/2 years now and has improved tremendously. He is 14 years old and still looks forward to going to lessons every week. Arlette is really good at finding a student's strengths/likes to keep their interest, as well as finding the areas they need to work on. Highly recommended.

Best teacher I have ever had, she is very patient and takes her time explaining her lesson. She is funny and nice and I really enjoy her lessons.

Violin Lessons (for children or teenagers)

My daughter recently started violin lessons with Ms. Cardenes. So far, she has been extremely friendly, patient, and encouraging. My daughter is a bit shy, and she has made her feel very comfortable and excited about learning.

Violin Lessons (for adults)

Her knowledge of music is incredible and I have never left a lesson without learning something new. Her positive reinforcements encourage me to practice more and her relatability makes lessons come and go without frustration and gives me a sense of "everything is going to be okay". I have just started lessons with Arlette and I already see a huge improvement in my skill and my general knowledge of music. After my lesson I am always looking forward to my next lesson and I know that now that I'm working with Arlette I am moving in the right direction.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing is decided upon the other professional cellists in the Los Angeles area. Generally, lessons run about $75/lesson. I am from a mind set that all of us have bills, children to feed, and partners to take care of, therefore I try to be reasonable with my pricing, but to understand that I am a professional and I have had great success with my students.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When a new client comes to the lesson, I ask general questions regarding how much to they know the instrument and/or how long have they been playing. Do they read music? Do they know the major composers? And then I ask them if they have questions for me.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have my Master's Degree in Cello Performance, also my Bachelor's degree as well. I have won local competition, I have been to several Music Camps, I have studied with great cellists.
