Ceasar and his crew did a tremendous job. The job continued into the evening and they did not try to speed up and do a sloppy job, they were very patient and stayed as long as it took to complete the job right. Highly recommend them.Dec 5, 2018Verified
Cesar responded to my request for a quote on a walkway in our back yard. Ceasar was very profesional and set up an appointment right away. He gave us a quote and a date to do it and we hired him. Within a week of finding him he came and did the job just like he said. He knows his work and I definitely recommend him and will hire him again. The walkway came out excellent!Sep 22, 2016Verified
I was trying to be nice and only ask Cesar from CNX Concrete Construction to fix some of the less expensive mistakes that he or his crew may have made, but now I am not even getting calls or texts back. The original cement job was started on November 22. On the 23rd I started noticing problems like cement all over the decorative rocks that I asked 3 times not to get cement on. I even suggested moving the rocks before cementing, or covering the rocks with plastic before they got cement on them. I asked Cesar to fix the problems. Cesar said his guy would come out on Nov 25th to remove the vents and get the cement off the rocks. On the Friday the 25th, I asked Cesar why his guy did not show and he said his car overheated and would be there on Monday November 28th. When, I arrived home on Monday November 28th, I found my motorized driveway gate wide open, my tree branches next to the gate were broken, and the inferred light sensor reflector to signal the gate to close was broken off and laying next to the gate. This would probably cost me at least $100 to fix if I called an electric gate repair man to fix, but I fixed it myself. This same day it looked like Cesar sent someone back to get the cement off the decorative rocks and deeply scratched up the rocks with the tools he used to get some of the cement off the rocks and the whole length of the new cement was all scratched up by what looked like steel toed boots. I also asked Cesar to get the crawl space covers out that were held in by his molds that he used to protect the vent covers from getting cemented in, but when his guy came back he didn't get the crawl space vent covers out so I had to try to pull them out and mount them back in the right place before mice and rats get underneath the house. When I tried to move the vent covers in the right place myself on November 30th I found out that I could not get the the vent covers out because even though I removed Cesar's moldings, I found out that the actual vent covers were cemented in place which is not the correct place either because it leaves gaps for rats and mice to get under the house. November 30th, I bought $14 worth of tools to attach a one ton winch to the vents and about 4 hours of my time to attempt to pull the 3 vent covers out, but I was unable to get the 3rd vent cover out because it is cemented in too deep and the vent cover broke. I text Cesar pictures and asked him to replace the one vent cover and Cesar has not responded. Cesar's voice mail box was full last time I checked. On November 22, when Cesar first started the job, Cesar also ran out of cement about 5 feet short of the walkway being finished and he bought a different kind of cement without telling me it was going to be different cement. Earlier, Cesar asked if I wanted to have him have the truck come back with more of the same cement and charge me $400 more than we originally agreed on the whole job costing for the extra cement. I agreed because I basically had to since it would probably cost more to have a new person come out to finish the job Caesar started. But Cesar used a different cement from a local store, (maybe to save me money, or maybe to save himself time and bad feedback, I am not sure), but thankfully Cesar only charged me $250 more than the original agreed price even though we agreed on a set price over the phone. But now that the cement is drying and has stopped changing colors, I can see that the two different cements are two different colors and the color is not changing any more as the cement dries. The texture of this new cement also has ugly little craters in it where it looks like someone dripped water on the wet cement. Also, the pipes were just cemented over without a putting a boarder between the cement and the pipes which may in the future cause the pipes to brake if the cement settles or expands and contracts with hot and cold weather. I would estimate paying someone to crack open the cement around the pipes and fixing the pipes would cost at least another $500. I would like one new vent cover measured, made, and installed because it is cemented in the wrong place and broken. The other 2 covers should have the cement ground off of them and they should be re-primed and painted. I imagine this will cost about $400 for the replacement and repairs of the 3 vent covers. I could not find a place online where I can buy these covers, so I think they need to be custom made. The cement may need to be cut so the cemented in crawl space vent cover can be fit back in the right place and I don't have the tools for that. I would like about 125 new decorative rocks purchased from a local home Improvement chain, so they fit next to the cement like the old rocks did. I imagine this would cost about $700 or more to pay someone to purchase, deliver and put new decorative rocks back into place including paying to dispose of the old decorative rocks that have cement on them. I also imagine it would cost at least $500 or more to have the new roughly 5 foot by 5 foot section of cement tore out and put back in to match the other cement. I am thinking I can just deal with the ugly mismatching last 5 feet of cratered cement to be nice, but why should I keep being nice when I am not even getting a call or response back to help fix any of these problems. Maybe I should take this to arbitration. So far this job is looking like it will cost at least $2,214 to fix and that is not even counting the time I put into trying to get this fixed myself or the cost of the original job.Dec 8, 2016VerifiedCNX Concrete Construction's reply
It really sucks that's people can post a negative review on your account,I know even if I tried my hardest to have perfect reviews I can't,but I did reach out and I did try to make it right,my job was done correctly, but at the end of the pour he decided to go an extra 8ft,so we had to go down to the hardware store to buy cement bags, which we had to mix by hand, and he wants to complain why the concrete is not consistent,I try my hardest to satisfy my clients, but there is some people you can't satisfy, good luck Pete and hope all goes well when your future projects
I don't believe this contractor is licensed. He does not have business cards and failed to provide written quote with his contractor's license # on it. Further, when I expressed my desire to pay his vendor for the materials myself, he was visibly annoyed and rudely asked 'why?". I have had a materials lein placed on my property. He ended the discussion and later gave, by far, the highest quote received. Many red flags.Oct 4, 2018VerifiedCNX Concrete Construction's reply
First of all this guy Scott, was pushy from the start,he was telling me what he wanted and giving me the scope of the project which was a lot of work, almost two trucks of concrete,so I took measurements worked some numbers and texted him the price, then he text me back and then said I won’t it in writing,so I said look this is the price and if you agree to it we can go back write out an itemized contract sign it and get started right away,so long story short he didn’t like my price and decided to give me a one star review, you pay for what you get Scott, good luck on who you hire because for the price he wanted to pay me,I hope he gets the quality he wants, also for those curious about my license number here it is #1004261 and my partner is also Jim Balsamo,no red flags here
Caesar is a honest, hardworking professional, I would quickly recommend his company to any of my friends or family. The work was exactly what I requested and the price was reasonable.Nov 24, 2015Verified
