Full cleaning 2700 sq ft home - 9 hours. Best brokered or web-led housecleaning experience EVER. Michael is a smart (IQ and especially EQ) and articulate man who quickly became immersed (with a ton of energy) in our tasks with a high level of sensitivity to our particular home stage. He is a totally capable cleaner, sure - used a totally effective combo of his and our own chemicals, tools and methods - got the house lastingly clean (it's been 4 days since now, time to dispassionately inspect) in all the conventional ways, missed only a few nooks or crannies - and he sincerely wanted to know what we catch that he misses (we got the sense he'll remember for next time). BUT - what else? Most cleaners (especially on first time gigs) reveal a lot by how they handle the dusting / knick knack challenge - Michael got bookshelves and cabinets and chests and mantles and all that clean, "picking up" every little item to dust beneath, AND then surprised us by tweaking placement - staging - of MANY of the little precious things we've accumulated over the years and (not making this up) we had to agree 100% of the time that he'd put things back better than where he found them. He knew this was a scary thing to offer - told us some people ask him to refrain and he quickly restores things as they were ... but folks, this guy (he has apparently worked as a professional interior "stager") is genuinely talented - and this one housecleaning left us with improvements we really liked! So in addition to a VERY well cleaned home - we got insight and a freshening of how we live with some of our favorite little stuff. Hell of a deal - his rates are solidly in the middle of the market range for good cleaners. He has a great, informal way of handling scheduling and was totally candid upfront and easy about the business, personal space and performance aspects of a house-cleaning relationship. We'll have him back in a month for sure.

To create some additional space in the top floor of my garden cottage, I wanted to take advantage of the high ceilings and have a loft space installed. It was important to me that none of the floor space underneath was compromised, and wanted to avoid using supports from the floor. Jasper came over, took the time to understand my needs & vision, and offered a tremendous amount of support and advice as we pursued the design. He presented me with different options, and was sensitive to my pricing considerations. Ultimately, we decided it was best to pursue a minimally viable solution, and then expand on it as my needs changed. Within a week, Jasper showed up with his friend, a truck full of lumber, and got to business. He showed up at noon, and was done by 8pm. He was happy to make adjustments and modifications I requested weeks after completion (at no additional charge), left my home clean, and really took pride in his work. He was friendly, professional, and stood behind his work 100%. It was truly a pleasure to have Jasper come and turn my loft space vision into a reality that was far better than anything I could have imagined at a great price and on budget. I look forward to using him again for my future projects.

We hadn't realized he had a two hour minimum for doing any work. He did a great job fixing a cabinet door and did come twice to bring us back the door he'd taken home to fix. He also didn't have any receipts for doing the work.

We enjoyed working with Serena Zanello on our update project for our home. She is true professional. She began with a long conversation with us over colors, styles, preferences and patterns. As we worked with her design suggestions, we were able to come to consensus on furniture styles and wall colors; she was able to come up with colors that my husband and I could both accept. She was very patient as we worked our way through many choices, and she sent us many possibilities and combinations which would work together, give us the update we were looking for, and satisfy us both. She really opened my mind to new possibilities that took into account our preferences and needs. She chose two very professional subcontractors, to paint and to install the flooring. Their work was detailed, accurate and careful, and clean. We are very happy with the final process of floor, wall colors, tables, chairs, sofas and lighting that fulfill the functions we need and fit our sense of beauty and form. Her choices, suggestions and enthusiasm made the final result come together beautifully. We would certainly work with her again and recommend her highly.

Justin is top knotch! We originally hired him to do demo on our 1 story flat to prepare it for remodeling but ended up hiring him for the whole job. He works really hard and is really fast but does an amazing job. He is knowledgeable and had experience in pretty much everything we needed to accomplished for our remodel. Electrical, plumbing, gas lines, cabinetry, moldings, flooring,(both new wood floors and tile) home security, new windows and doors. He did is all himself or with a few laborers and we couldn't be happier with the results. We will definitely be calling on him again in the future!

My experience with Decorating Den Interiors By Roynita was transforming. My home furnishings went from two items of the same kind packed into a very small condo example; two chaise lounges, two coffee tables, and just too clustered for comfort. Roynita help me by designing the areas where I spent the majority of my time, the living room and my bedroom. For eight days Roynita labor until the job was done.I was most impressed with Roynita's steady persistence that kept me cluster-free.During those eight days. Roynita's work performance at my home was outstanding. This was my first time to have a professional decorate my home. She was on time and very knowledgeable about fabrics and colors, or drapes and rods.Roynita Daniels will continue to do better in the future by reaching out to various economical bases.I did not think I could afford a interior designer until I met Roynita at Decorating Den Interiors.

For years, we knew we needed to declutter and reorganize our house, but we kept telling ourselves that we should just do it ourselves - but It had been years and we still hadn’t done it. So, We hired Adroit Interiors to help us de-clutter our apartment and help us reorganize and rearrange our entire house - and it was 110% worth it! We have been bragging about their work to all our friends, and have fallen newly in love with our apartment. Having all of this get completed with experts’ help and direction was such a huge relief. We are so much happier in our space now and so glad we worked with them. Michela and Jasmine helped us remove over 300 lbs of junk and clutter. Because they took care of making sure things were sustainably donated, recycled, or otherwise responsibly disposed of it was a stress- and worry-free experience for us. They were amazing at helping us work through not just the physical process of gathering, sorting, and removing things, but they also were amazing at helping us see things clearly and feel good about the process even though it can be surprisingly emotional to eliminate clutter you’ve had for a decade. Michela and Jasmine helped reorganize and better use our space. My wife and I now have an amazingly well-organized closet! My wife wears many more of her clothes than she used to and puts together more outfit combinations than before because she can see all her clothes now. Keeping it clean has been so easy now that they’ve given us such a well-designed setup. When designing her new layout/organization system, they took into account our own personalities and habits to make sure the system we are set up with was one that has been easy to maintain. During the process, Adroit also helped rearrange several of our rooms. They created 3D renderings of various layouts and showed us what was possible with our existing furniture and helped us source new pieces, as well as putting to use items that had been languishing in storage. By the end of our time with Adroit we had so much faith in their abilities that we let them reorganize our entire kitchen without us being involved. No exaggeration, the way they put things away is so well thought-out and considered that when we can’t remember the new home for something, we can easily figure it out because things just make sense now. Cooking and keeping the kitchen clean has become much easier thanks to them. We can not recommend them highly enough - Adroit Interiors lifted a huge weight off our shoulders and we are so much happier in our space than we were before.

Carol's design service was given to me as a gift to help design the interior of the home that I had just purchased. She did such a great job that I hired her to do additional work for me and my family. She has provided us amazing results that compete with designer shows and websites. She accomplishes this under tight deadlines and, more importantly, without having to spend a fortune.

These folks specialize in the hunt for the PERFECT things--whether furniture, accessories, paint colors, etc. --it reflects not only individual taste, but they create the atmosphere, the mood, the feeling you want. They are never pushy, but they are honest and will gently push you from being unsure when you're looking at a photo of something in a magazine to trying (and loving it!) in your home. They "get" people, and clearly take joy in making other people feel proud of their homes and businesses. I've seen their work in a number of places and every place is completely different--they can do ANY style. It's obvious they really know how to listen and achieve what their client wants.

When I moved to the SF Bay for a tech job out of college, I was tempted to go the route of IKEA and fill my house with flimsy, boxy, and sterile furnishings in the interest of just having a space to live. James taught me how to parse out my own personal taste (I prioritize functionality, but I also want pieces that will age well, and convey a history and emotion) and guided me toward new and old pieces that made my apartment a reflection of myself, all within my budget. Most importantly, he left me with the tools to make my own judgments on how to outfit my living space going forward. To this day, friends love coming to visit my home and revel in its unique atmosphere. I attribute this to James' skill at helping me discover my own taste and aesthetic preferences.

Andrea was a godsend! I was like a deer in the headlights trying to navigate a potential remodel and interior design work and Andrea stepped in, took the lead, and the outcome was spectacular. She had the contacts in place quickly for a contractor, electrician, plumber, painter, tile layer, hardwood floor refinisher, kitchen cabinets / counter tops, and the list goes on and on as well as furniture finds, both in-store and online. By purchasing furniture from a variety of places, my home has a personal feel. Andrea was readily available throughout the 6 month project and her attention to detail was incredible. Every time I walk in my front door, I smile and thank Andrea for all that she did to make my home look amazing and each time friends and family walk in the front door, they are in awe. I am quick to give Andrea credit! I highly recommend Andrea. She's a tremendous designer and now friend.

WOW!!! Was I ever so impressed!!! She nailed it perfectly. She listened to what I wanted or envisioned and then executed it perfectly and beyond my expectations. This girl is truly talented!! She is delightful in everyway to work with and reasonable. You will not be sorry. I give her my highest recommendation. If I could have afforded more I would have done the whole house and gone more wild in the back yard. Due to my budget restraints she was limited in that way only. I am beyond pleased with the final outcome. In just 2 days she transformed this vacant home into an environment of 'AAH-MAZING' and inviting modern feel, with comfort & style!! I will indefinitely be using Kim's services with future listings. Thank you immensley Kim. Kathy Baker, Bradley Real Estate, Santa Rosa, CA

    About

If your home environment is out of balance, most likely your life is out of balance as well. The places we live in have a profound effect on how we feel, think and act. A home that is in alignment with our essence is more than just a place to live. It is a sanctuary, a haven from the stresses of everyday life and a temple for body, mind and spirit. If you are longing to transform your home into a vibrant and harmonious living space that supports your deepest goals and life intentions, I can help. I do home readings. I diagnose energy blocks and areas that are out of alignment and which may be affecting your health and well-being. Taking into consideration your personal style and design aesthetic, I will teach you how to create flow and harmony using the things that you already own and, if necessary, make suggestions for easy modifications that will instantly improve the feel of your space. One of my favorite things to do is help my clients birth their dreams by teaching them how to use their home's energy to intentionally accelerate manifestation. I use tools from many wisdom traditions, including feng shui, the chakra system, color therapy, energy healing and the alchemy of impressions. My approach is deeply intuitive, which allows me to quickly tune into an environment and diagnose areas that are out of balance. Additional services include design, color consulting and resource suggestions for anything, from shelving solutions to paint color to eco-friendly rugs. I love what I do, and nothing makes me happier than seeing my clients' lives improve. I'm a certified feng shui consultant, and have been practicing since 1993. I am also a life coach and energy healer.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does it mean to stage a home?

Home staging is the real estate strategy of decorating your home to be as marketable as possible to your target demographic. Home staging is done by interior decorators and other design pros hired by the homeowner or realtor, prior to putting a house on the market. Think of it as setting the stage for potential buyers to fall more easily in love with their future homes — and to spend top dollar to get them. It’s likely to be worth the investment: The Real Estate Staging Association reports that staged homes spend 90 percent less time on the market than those that are not staged. Home stagers can also be hired even if you’re not going anywhere. Stagers can consult on new layouts for your current home, much like an interior decorator.

Home staging can take place while you still occupy the house you plan to sell, or when the home is vacant. For an occupied home, the home stager will clear out clutter, rearrange furniture, and bring in decor and furniture as needed to create the perfect environment. Usually an occupied home has far too much of the current owner’s personality stamped on it, which makes it hard for prospective buyers to envision themselves living there. A home stager should neutralize and beautify the space. In vacant homes, a home stager will bring in furniture and decor so that potential buyers don’t walk into an empty house, which can be equally hard to imagine living in as a cluttered, occupied home.

How much does it cost to stage a home for sale?

Nationally, the price for home staging ranges between $750 and $1,500. The price varies based on how many rooms in the house need staging, whether furniture and decor are needed or the stager can work with the client’s belongings, whether the home is occupied or vacant, and the sale price of the home. Occupied homes typically cost less to stage as they are already furnished, and can require less time and resources than staging an empty house. The main tasks when staging an occupied home are rearranging and decluttering. Staging an empty house can be more expensive as furniture and decor need to be trucked in, requiring transportation, physical labor and potential rental fees. Here are some examples of average home staging costs:

    • 2-hour consultation: $200, includes DIY tips and guidance.
    • 1- to 2-hour consultation and design session: $250, including written report.
      • Additional design consulting: $65 per hour.
    • 8 hours of staging an occupied home: $800.
      • Hands-on staging involving moving furniture, hanging and moving art, and decluttering.
    • Starting price for staging a vacant home could be $2,200.
    • A home stager may charge 1 percent of the home’s selling price.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
